I disagree with your statement about using the characters to write a story not based on the show. This is fan "fiction", after all, as the word suggests.

I agree that a writer like yourself would decide to not write explicit scenes, and that is your prerogative as a writer.

BUT

Nine year olds on the forum... I don't even know what to say about this...

Their own parents should monitor what they're even doing on the internet, and the writers on the forum shouldn't be restricted because of moral policing. Honestly, I have a child and I would not expect website owners to censor what's happening on their site, because I am not watching what my child is up to.

Disagreeing is fine but there is a point at which Fan Fiction is not Fan Fiction anymore. At that point it has to do with the definition, not opinions. By definition, fan fiction takes characters written by someone else, such as TV and movie characters or stories. The character is someone else's and you are are taking it as a fan. So you can put them in different scenarios and try to keep to the character as best as you can. That is the only reason the readers are reading it, they want more of the same.

I place them in situations that the characters may not be in, I made Khushi a princess once, but her personality, her character had to be the same. It eased in to her being a royalty. So there is a way of taking liberties without violating FF rules. But if you start off the story with, Khushi is a prostitute in my story and Arnav a client and their personalities are completely different (true story, someone wrote that). That is a different story that is just using the name of the characters to get readers but writing a completely different set of characters and stories. Later we found out the girl plagarized the whole thing. It was a completely different story of someone else's that she stole and changed the names to Khushi and Arnav to get readers and comments here. That is a point where it is not FF, it is just taking a readership by using character names. This is how Fifty Shades of Grey became a separate book by the way, it could no longer be the Twilight Fan Fiction is originially claimed to be.

As for young kids being here, parents nowadays are not fast enough to police everything. The internet is a place where kids can really access a lot. Parents can try, but I gurantee they kids will see the po*nography one way or another, and worse stuff on the internet. So I as a writer try to use my best judgment about what I feel comfortable with them reading. It does not hamper my creativity. I am not saying writers should not write sex scenes anyway because of it. There is a tasteful way of doing it. I would rather a kid read a sex scene than watch graphic violence. IF has regulations about how much explicitness they allow anyway, so creativity to write graphic or explicity sex is limited anyway.

Not a PM, I wish to receive on a Monday morning, nonetheless moving on.

I didn't quite comprehend the intent behind this post, so I quickly skimmed over the comments and grasped the possible reason for the concerns raised, if this has extended from readers' comments/feedback on a particular fiction which is undoubtedly an exceptional read, its ridiculously unwarranted to categorise those comments and feedback as a demand for explicit content or constant romance.

As a reader and source of neutral introspect, it is safe to establish, writers do not wish to connect with their readers and the possible variation of mentalities therefore only desiring glorified and positive feedback.

The disconnect between writers and their followers are alarming, in respect of the above distresses, writers should perhaps include disclaimers to ensure they receive the content of feedback they desire to avoid this constant blame game, and general disregard to readers, this is ultimately a give and take relationship which lacks equilibrium.

P.S I find an argument over cyberspace pointless rather than mind stimulating.

P.S.S No offense ChocoBerry Mom, but this topic is becoming exasperating and over drawn.

THATS IT

But Di don't u think we reader have a right to give our POV weather its negative or positive&u r taking that right away from us which Is not fair.

Abi you're not getting my point here lil bro

My point is that if a writer has already given you 10 chapters of romance and you loved it, but as soon as there is a twist introduced you start complaining about no romance.

That is my concern. A story cannot be just romance. It has to have its fair share of ups n downs.

That's a lot of anger on the TM's opinion esp. from someone who finds it "pointless rather than mind stimulating."

You are taking the TM and blaming all the writers for their "alarming" "disconnect" with their readers. Have you read all our writing and seen our relationships with our readers? Every writer is a different person entitled to a different point of view. We all know that readers wants romance and esp in the form of erotica, that is preferred in most FFs. But if we write, we are allowed to write what we feel comfortable with and the readers who stay with us stay for the quality of the writing, nothing else. We are always writing, responding and thanking readers who comment on our pieces.

There is no disconnect just because a writer asserts her opinion on the whole business too. The reason writers here sound so frustrated is because we hardly ever get comments, reviews, or criticisms. All we get are DEMANDS, demanding sex scenes, demanding this or that. Writers are not here to offer their services to the reader and wait for their approval (that is for people who depend on TRPs), they are here to write what they like whoever reads and reviews that (good or bad) is free to do so.

You can't write a story like that. They need to understand a story has many layers and romance is ONE of them.

I agree. I face alot of these comments on KJBB. When I can't give AsYa scenes now, they still demand for it. I don't understand why can't people read the story and let the writer write what he/she has planned for it. 🤔

Feedback, both negative and positive are welcomed but demands and predictions are something that really gets on my nerves.

Nice post. Honestly said i dont read all asya stories here. But those which i read i always try to appricate them. There r many writers who wrote a story with every thing in it. Be it drama, romance and emotion. And i just love them. I dont said any negative words towards the writer. Cause i know how much effort they give. But its also true that being a asya fan whenever i saw in a story that asya r going to b seperated or something which as a fan i dont like i told the writer directly that i dont like this idea and want it that way, but never force them cause know that they have some plans for it. But whenever i read that asad abusing zoya i always give negative comments. Cause as a asya fan it hurts me to read this. And i also dont expect romance and explicit scenes in every story. But here r also some writers who only knows some same types of story where asad either abusing zoya, manhandling her, raping her, forced her to something against her will. Frankly speaking i hate those stories and dont like the writers also. Though i dont read those stories. Hope i not harsh. Dont know i make any sense or not.

Ok Yeah, I get that. Look I mean there's only so much that can be done with the characters in their show , so changing it up a bit doesn't hurt. Even playing around with character traits should be OK. But yeah, Edward is a loved character. Turning him into Grey... not my cup of tea. That was creative liberty at its worst. In fact, I've seen similar on this forum but let's not go there.

The internet... bane and boon, especially for parents.

In short, any nine year olds... Please stay away from my stories;)
