Kim Sae Ron’s family pushes ‘forensic extraction’ claim as probe around Kim Soo Hyun deepens

The conversation around Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress Kim Sae Ron has taken another turn after her family’s lawyer claimed that the leaked private chats were retrieved through what he described as forensic extraction. This development comes at a time when the controversy has already raised strong reactions in South Korea, especially after the actress’ mother repeated her allegation that the Queen of Tears actor dated her daughter when she was still a minor.

According to the family’s lawyer, the messages between the two actors were collected and handed over to the police as evidence. The lawyer maintained that more details will be shared in court. In his statement, he said, “To prevent any further misunderstandings, we will disclose the contents of the KakaoTalk messages obtained via forensic extraction and submitted to the police as evidence to prove that Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun dated in 2018. Kim Sae Ron’s side has participated diligently in the ongoing investigations, submitting all electronic devices which belonged to Kim Sae Ron to the police."

The late actress’ mother had earlier shared her own claims. She repeated that her daughter was involved with Kim Soo Hyun when she was a minor and accused the actor’s legal team of spreading false information about the family. She also revealed what she said was a memo from Kim Soo Hyun’s device dated September 28, 2017, a period before his military enlistment. The mother further alleged that before a planned meeting on April 12, 2018, the actor sent messages to her daughter saying, “I want to see you immediately," and, “I’m completely undressed," which she stated “proves they were lovers."

Kim Soo Hyun has rejected the claim that he dated her during her minor years. At a press conference, he addressed the issue directly and said, “I’ll address the biggest concern—I did not date the deceased when she was a minor. We dated five years ago for about a year, long before Queen of Tears aired."

His legal representative recently urged the authorities to complete the inquiry soon, noting that a major part of the investigation is already done and calling for a “swift conclusion" to the case.
