Dear TM, islamic rules say that a person should be covered head to toe while offering namaaz. And Zoya's kameez was almost till her knees and her legs were fully covered. Jeans is just the material of the cloth. Point is that the skin should be covered, and Zoya's was perfectly covered. Her arms were covered below her elbow too.

Coming from a religious family, I do wear jeans when I am offering prayers outside home. And i see many wearing it too,

It has nothing to do with being liberal or mordern, it just has to do with the fact that the rules are being followed even if worn jeans.

Yeah I did take offense to that. But I think the writers do that on purpose so audiences can think and question themselves about this topic. Just like you just did--go kudos!

But think about Tanu is an epitome traditional wardrobe, but she's a complete paradox. She's innately evil, whereas Zoya is modern in clothing but very good-mannered and respectful of her heritage.

I do believe the writers want people to think and go out in the world and debate this. And maybe those that feel this way change their opinions on clothing and culture.

Religion again...Lovely.
When will the people of this forum understand that a tv show does not take it upon itself to represent a religion. Everytime there is an outrage over something new...well no not new, always something related to Zoya's clothing. I remember last time there was a very long and painful debate about Zoya's skirt which just made most people in this forum seem like...nevermind. I wish I could say next time anyone has a bloody thought about Zoya's clothes keep it to yourself...but I can't even do that because this is a public forum and you can say whatever you want. Well so can I though.
Anyways, I doubt anyone lives their life by every single thing that is written in their religious book. So take a chill pill. Besides, just because a holy book says you can't do something does not mean people wont do it and neither does it mean you can't do it. People will do whatever they want and they will call themselves whatever they want...hindu, muslim, christian, jew. If truly we were to only call those people christians who abide by the bible, and those muslims who abide by quran (etc etc) then there would not be many religious people left in this world. Hey, which would suit me just fine.

I have to ask though...are her clothes really so offensive that people get so angry so quickly about her damn clothes. And why is there never so much debate about clothing and religion on any other forum. In IPK, they showed a live in relationship...yet no outrage there. Sure they didn't approve it, but still it wasn't going all into religion this and religion that. Not everything has to do with religion. Some things are about what makes us feel comfortable, happy.

To offer prayer in Islam: A woman's face, hands and feet below ankle are allowed to be shown- everything else has to be covered. No where does it say girls are not allowed to wear jeans. Zoya's jeans are covering her legs- which is a fulfillment of the requirements needed.

I volunteer at a mosque and participate at discussions with masjid Imams and other knowledgeable people. The Quran does not state a forbidden law against jeans. The basic code for prayer for women is whole body covered except hands, face, and feet below ankle.

Yeah right stoning women to death for adultery is treating a person like gem. Making it obligatory for women to wear hijab is treating them like gem. Allowing men to have four wives is treating them like gem. Needing 4 adult muslim male witnesses to prove rape is treating women like gem. Threatening women like Amina is treating them like gem. Allowing men to divorce women without mutual consent is treating them like gem. Allowing men to control their social and biological rights is treating them like gem . Hats off to your "irrationality".

No religion is free from faults. Learn to accept it .

I really didn't want to get into this.. but this particular comment of yours made me..

1) Stoning a woman to death because of adultery - Adultery in itself is gem isn't it? We should go around advertising it shouldn't we? And plus, you don't know, but a woman has to admit herself that she committed adultery with about 4 witnesses! That's when it's actually decided she's sinned and hence she's supposed to get stoned to death. Same applies to men.

2) Forcing women to wear hijab - I can assure you once I started my hijab I was treated with utmost respect everywhere! INCULDING UK! Islam advises women to wear hijab because it will not draw male attention to their body. It lessen the lustful thoughts men will have about you. It's protecting the women! That, believe it or not, IS gem!

4) Allowing men to have four wives - ONLY if he can treat them ALL equally! The reasoning provided by our Prophet PBUH was despite all the female baby abortions, there's still a higher ratio of women to men in the world. If this wasn't allowed, that would leave three times more women free in the world to do what they want. This would promote adultery for men, it would lead women to have sex before marriage. but bear in mind that the man can ONLY marry another woman IF his first wife agrees.

5) Needing four muslim men to witness - It's four witnesses! Not necessarily muslim men. And rape is a VERY sensitive issue which I haven't looked into so I really can't say much. If you're asing this on the Sharia Law of Muslim countries.. then you have no right to point fingers at ISslam because those countries have got many things wrong most of the time anyway! They change the laws subtly to suit THEM not to Islam. But I'd also just like to point out if the man says he didn't do it, he COULD be saying the truth. If the woman said he did, she COULD be lying too. So will you condemn an innocent man to death without knowing the whole truth? Asad and Tanveer example is right in front of you! Women like Tanveer DO exist in the world. They would do anything for power!

6) Threatening women - NO WAY are men allowed to mistreat women! Give me ONE ayah in the Quran, please! In fact, women status was SO low before the Prophet PBUH came into the world. The status that women have to day is because ISLAM gave women rights to own properties! ISLAM gave women a right to say no. ISLAM gave women rights that enabled them to stand up for themselves and not be treated like dogs or wh**es as they previously were if not from a rich family. So please do not even go into that!

7) Men divorcing women without mutual consent - I don't know much about that. But the Man obviously must have a good reason eg if she committed adultery. And the woman is allowed to divorce men as well without mutual consent in probably the same scenario. Islam does NOT force you stay with someone who tortures you! People do! Society does so don't blame Islam for people's small minds!

8)Allowing Men to control their social and biological rights - Examples please!

So basically, I don't know about other religions, but Islam is perfect for me. So you want to be an atheist, sure, go ahead that's your right. But critisizing other religions, and pointing out what you call 'faults' without doing research is NOT your right!

And the only reason people are getting offended by your comments is because you're targeting ISLAM not people! Furthermore, QH is supposed to be based on ISLAM so it should show something about ISLAM which it does.. but also goofs up..ie she was praying fajr once the sun had already risen apparently. Hence people get irked and give their opinions. But even so.. pointing at Islam because of that.. cheap shot.

As long as you are covered and wearing decent clothes, I don't find any problems in it. Besides, shalwar kameez is decent according to our culture, but if you go to arab countries like Saudi Arabia...they find it indecent! So, the thing is that everyone has different views about it. Neeyat is what matters, and Allah knows what is going on in our hearts...

Being a Muslim doesn't mean that you follow every stupid custom, had it been that I don't see why you even watch the show or even use internet as that too isn't allowed in Islam. Religion is open to interpretation and isn't set in stone. Stop being so damn judgmental about everything.Give some one a little breathing without bombarding everyone with religious propaganda that doesn't even matter. Clothes are clothes , they don't make or break a person. It is whats within oneself that does. Grow up!!!

please wd most respect.. the topic maker is nt judgemental neither v r who agreed, she/he juxt statd an opinion, whch v all hav a right to.. we r nt arguing abt wearing a jeans or nt, v juxt said it shuld b other than jeans, whch wl luk better, n i found ur cmnt a lil rude, while talkng abt stupid customs, u dnt hav any right to insult customs or relign, when u dnt kno abt it... n let me tell u, juxt sayng abt jeans n all, dnt mean that v r judgemental, or judge people by their clothes, i thnk the thng we want to say doesnt fit to ur minds whch r wearng jeans, v dnt feel offended to u people... thats all its a thnkng of two different people, whch wl never, plus religion is nt at fault, at least i cn guarantee abt my religion, whch is very deep... so its better to stop here...

Thank you so much for replying
I was very upset when I saw this comment and was going to reply
but glad you did
people should just stop saying things about someone's religion
when they don't know anything about it
if you don't know anything it's better to be quite because you are hurting someone
and what you are saying is wrong
As a Muslim I must say I was very offended by some of the comments that I saw
the best thing to do is go read about that religion instead of believing what stupid media says
and being judgmental
A request to all to stop mocking a religion or bringing your false information and sticking it
to the religion
Islam is a peaceful religion and way far from what hating media is saying

when i started the topic, i simply wanted to state an opinion because that particular scene from the show disturbed me. i have always been told that namaz is not allowed in jeans. at my hostel, my home and other places i see people changing their jeans and wearing salwar suits before offering prayers (i did the same). i think i formed an opinion with limited knowledge based on observation of my own..
however, im glad i made the topic because i got lot of new information and opinions from more knowledgeable people across the world. i read up the rules regarding the dress for namaz and it isnt stated anywhere specifically that jeans are not allowed. but still most people consider it inappropriate to say prayers in jeans. however, im sure the most important thing is to offer the prayer with a pure heart. most people have to wear jeans to college and work and they would be missing their prayers if they had to change so its better to pray in whatever you are wearing so long as it covers you properly.

however what hurt me most was the bashing of islam i saw by some people on this post. i never intended this outcome. the bashers have been given fitting replies by you admirable guys and i applaud you for that. 👏
this post was my first on QH forum and im sorry if anyone was offended by it coz i never meant to criticize islam, i was only criticizing qh makers.

so, peace here please, my name is Ayesha, btw, i've been a silent reader for a few months and love this forum 😊
