Hi Laila,

Yup...I thought the same thing...it's just that the writers are a bunch of sexists and mysogynists who still believes that in a patriarchal society it's welcoming to slap a woman into submission. They are trying to show Zoya progressive by making her wear a skirt...because in their twisted head they think that wearing western clothes makes one progressive...little do they know that one has to change the way they think...it's just a pathetic thought process.

But, nevertheless I am elated that Zoya took a stand even it's for a skirt.

Its not wearing a skirt that makes u progressive...its not judging somebody wearing one on the basis of it...and let me tell u...judging a woman by what she wears is as sexist as slapping a woman...Zoya is not progressive because she wears a skirt..she is progressive because she does not draw conclusions about someone's character based on the fact that they had worn a skirt...

Circumstances drive ppl to do stupid unimaginable and incorrigible stuff.

Slap could never be justified but both Asad and Zoya were on altogether on different plane then.

When someone you love is fighting for their life i really don't think someone who's strong yet emotionally a sensitive person would think about themselves. What would you expect from Zoya then? Shout at Asad in hospital and create a scene? Was she in that frame of mind then? It was her love for Dilshad that had her stop from retaliating, not her weakness or acceptance of Asad's ways. She have always kept her love for other's above herself and that has been inane to Zoya's character.

But today, scenarios have changed. Zoya is no more a guest in the Khan house. Asad is no more just her saviour, host or acquaintance. He's her fiance! And when they are entering matrimony, its only justified for Zoya to expect understanding from Asad but when he keeps reiterating the same stuff, she's bound to react. Asad was nobody when he slapped her but in present, he isn't nobody. And in a relationship she has whole rights to speak her mind.

(Shakes Head).
I am stunned at the responses. So Zoya does not need to speak up when she is slapped - we can find multiple excuses but when she dresses like (clearing throat cause you don't want to know what I want to say here), she suddenly finds her voice and gets all defense. Clearly a confused value system presented on this show. Very confused.
And which liberal Muslim girl here does not like sarees? Seriously - we're all finding execuses to wear them even my conservative cousin who wears a hijaab wears them!
It sad this had to be a Muslim show. I'd rather they were any other religion or none at all.
The show is a total insult to Muslim women.

Although Asad was as wrong then as he was now, the first time Zoya let it go. I'm in no way justifying his actions but Zoya knew his mother was in the hospital fighting between life and death and no matter how upset and hurt she was, Zoya's heart was a little too big to attack him at such a time. I also wanted her to scream and teach him a lesson but I understood her choice to remain silent even though Asad did deserve it.
