Laila, My sentiments exactly! I was thinking the same thing-the show took advantage of the Delhi gang-rape case and now all is back to "normal" sucks bigtime!

the most frustrating part is:

GUL makes people FOOL...like me...

Previous serial the heroine was not that educated and sophisticated, if thats what it is called...Hero abused her..

In QH, GIRL is labelled as New Yorkian...same..treatment...just label there..
They make us believe zoya is different character who stands for her rights and fight...but NO NO NO NO...she has no stands for her grounds in front of her MR. Sher Khan

Hey Laila, I am so glad you made this post. It needed to be made. I am so unhappy with the way this entire storyline is being handled!

Was that even an apology??? What he should have said was no matter how bad the situation it was absolutely inexcusable of me to raise a hand at you and threaten you. That's what he should have said!! Really, does it take a grown man his mother telling me him to realize he has behaved badly?

A childish part of me really wished she had spat that coffee all over his holier-than-thou face! It would have been the least he deserved.

This is just horrible writing! The writers are writing this as if the two of them will get into an abusive relationship where she keeps bearing it and he keeps "apologizing"...oh yeah with romantic music. *rolls eyes*

I don't understand how people think this apology was adequate. I have asked this question before but I'll ask it again- what if he had beaten Zoya up so bad because he was upset about his mother that she landed in the hospital?" Would people be saying his behaviour was justified??? Because essentially, right now, thats what they believe. The belief is if you are upset and in this case she (in Asads mind) was the cause of the situation then any thing is justified. So, surely that would be to.

So, on the redemption...what a load of crock!

If they want their viewers (or at least viewers like me) to ever like AsYa again they better do a whole better job on the redemption!

The whole apology was a disaster - Zoya's surprised look as though she did not deserve it, her spitting out the coffee...I too wanted something of that kind...(I mean here the part that is hardlined in your post) the minute she accepted the coffee was a disaster...I agree...it is one of the worst writing I have ever seen (although I have to admit there is a lot of it on Indian television that could still be considered even worse) but for this show, I was totally aghast. As I said, it looked like it was written on the back of a napkin.

People accept it because they do not know any better; they don't know that this is not acceptable. They want this jodi so bad that they will take anything handed out to them. They will brainwash their minds to believing this is fine...they want more...I can see it in some of the posts...but they don't know any better...

Did Asad even ask her about her hand? How she hurt it? No, he did not care...he was not apologizing for hitting her or insulting her...just the wrong person.

This was not an Apology...by AAK...not even near. I am actually not going to talk about Asad for a while because I simply cannot take his nonsensical behavior...I am going to instead focus on the woman who has really suffered immensely...Zoya.

She is one strong selfless woman. She is the one who has been violated every possible way...physically ( I do consider any kind of deliberate infliction of pain as a violation)...emotionally...psychologically...she is hiding behind a smiling mask. But...if Asad had the heart to look through it he would have recognized a wounded soul. But alas...the patriarchal societal norms will be repeated and the women will be crucified without any fault.

Let alone a lovestory...I cannot even see them as friends...it's absolutely absurd.

Great post, Laila!
Asad's apologies today were ridiculous. Not once did he look like he understood the gravity of his offences. There was only mild contrition in his expression. I wondered if he was more embarrassed at being in the wrong than regretful. There was no soul-searching. No swearing. Even the apology was qualified with an excuse: "I was afraid that ammi..."
I was glad that Zoya stood her ground initially. But the riot-act she read him on the bench was anything but. It was so subdued, as if Asad had beaten the spirit out of her.
And then the directors saw fit to truncate the apology with the 'spitting scene'. Followed by giving Asad the opportunity to find fault with Zoya yet again. And now Zoya herself excuses Asad, almost fondly, for being 'black and bitter'.
I never expected much in the way of redemption from this PH, but today was really disappointing.
