Hilarious! Loved the whole commentary but that was definitely the icing on the cake. Agree for the most part. Realistically, he couldn't do much but you're right..soaps are not about reality...one guy beats up 20 bad guys with one quick sweep of a wooden stick in serial-land so why couldn't Asad in this moment. I will say that he did look kind of in shock like he couldn't believe what was going on and at the same time, he was listening to his own uncle tell him the nightmare of the tale of Myriam so its possible that he was just not in the right mindset. Anyways, love your post! great writing!

OMG I SWEAR I THINK IVE FOUND MY TWIN. MUMMY!!!!!!!!! I HAVE A TWIN!!!!!!!!!!
Like I can't even EVERY SINGLE WORK YOU SAID was like a mirror image of my thoughts on that whole thing.
I had a whole post of why I began to even watch this show.
Zoya is like my life! Like I can't even begin to explain how much I love this crazed chick because exactly what you said, she has a heart of freakin gold!!!! I sooo want her to leave Asad like super bad so he can like you said have the infinite flashbacks with "bin tere" in the background. OMG I swear honest to freakin god I think we are related cause (going at the way this post was written) I love incorporating taunting humor into my serious posts! OMG like we are related, it's probably one of those Kumbh Ke Mele type stories.
Anyways yeah the fact that he would have left her there if he hadn't found out about the rapist or the fact that he just left her there in general. You don't do that and ESPECIALLY if you're the "hero".
He KNEW they were gonna kill her but what does he do, walk off until he gets this epiphany to save her out of no where. "To not let her die THIS WAY."
I don't I just can't get over it either.
Anyways twinsie, I shall take my leave.
Adios!

It was strange that he walked away...didn't he fight with handcuffs on before? They could've shown him to have struggles a bit ...maybe he was confused and overwhelmed... But can't let someone just die like that..

i have finally watched the episode and i think hat entire scenario was just a little too much and was really really not needed. first W*F is up with zoya always getting beaten up in the most brutal ways? how many near death experiences can one person have within like 2 weeks?

and yea i found it rly hard to swallow when asad was leaving without even asking mamu what was gna happen to zoya or putting up any kind of a fight. but at the same time i mean i think it was just a really crazy experience for him too and he knew he would get killed right then. the other times he fought, there weren't guns involved.

i wish they filmed it in a way that made it clear that Asad always intended to go back for Zoya and was just looking for the right time. They way they filmed it was a bit confusing and made everyone question Asad's humanity more than anything else.

Im and just sooo sick and tired of the Zoya in trouble, Asad fight n save Zoya game that we have been playing. I hope it finally ends.

Kulfibai,
Nice writing, no offense but when it comes to one's life, everyone behaves completely differently. Asad stood no chance of saving her with so many people with weapons. What he did was sensible. I would've been disappointed if he had got on a tractor or a bus and then got out of it, but he just waited for the goons to drop him off and turned back.

Forget about all these scenarios - have you read the story of the goat drowning with her baby? She makes the baby goat stand on her until (I repeat until) the water level gets to her nostrils. Then, she puts the baby down as if a step stool and stands on the top of the baby who would be dying to save herself. That is what reality is. I know this is a show and fiction but there should be some realistic story for us to feel the emotions. How many people cry when we read the story of Rama asking Sita to give agnipariksha? Probably very few because we know she is a goddess and nothing will happen to her. To me, it was realistic. If he had fought all the goons and saved her, I would've laughed at the whole show.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm kinda on both sides here. Like I really did expect him to put up a fight and not leave her like that. And I'm sure we've seen scenes of one hero beating up even more men than there was there, yes, Indian serials have the tendency to be highly unrealistic at times.
And then how he waited for a bit before he ran off to find her. I was like what in the world does he have to think about, why isn't he running the second those gundey were outta sight.
But then to see him going absolutely mad looking for her after, that was nice. Well portrayed.
So I guess it was a toss up between seeing him beat up a bunch of guys to save Zoya, or to see him searching for her like a mad lover. The prior we have already seen twice. So I guess the cvs wanted to show another facet of his love for her.
I mean yeah...I didn't like how he left her there. But really really irked me was how he paused and then went to search for her. But...bechara, he's new to this whole emotions thing.

Asad had NO choice; what would he have achieved if he tried to fight - he would have died. He would have been no use to Zoya. His first goal was to STAY ALIVE. He did that. He got to the bus stop and it was not a realization that he must save Zoya it was a chance for him to save her...all along I believe he was looking for that opportunity. He kept looking over his shoulder (and to me he was making note as to what was happening, where she was buried etc) because to me, Asad was going to come back and save her and when he knew he could save her, he want back for her.

Asad was a real hero here...he could have been killed if the men were still there, but fortunately they were not and he had a chance to save Zoya. He could have been a real jerk and never gone back but he didn't. I don't think once that he never intended not to go back.

I absolutely agree with you, I know some people love those male characters that fight with men with guns and stuff but I personally think it's a dumb move, if Asad had done what everyone had expected him to do then he would have been sliced and diced and Zoya would have died. What he did was logical and keeping to his character, he knew there wasn't a chance of him saving Zoya if he tries to take on all those men on his own so he bought his time, he went along with what the guys wanted and got to bus stop, and as soon as those goons left he ran to save her. And to be honest, the desperation on his face when he was searching for her body was far more heart touching than him trying to fight all those goons single handedly, in that one moment he showed how much he cared for Zoya.

lol seriously???
didnt u notice "some GOONS" holding guns and swords to his head?
what should he have done? tried to fight them off in his usual way and get killed? i dont remember whether in any of his previous fights there were so many guns invoved...it was mostly hand fighting...plus he was closely surrounded by all the goons!! how the heck was he supposed to fight them?
also didnt u see him always turning back to look at Zoya? he never had any plans to leave her...he was just waiting for a chance to go back and that chance came when he was left alone at the bus stop...after the goons had LEFT...maybe u didnt notice the disdain with which he pushed off his mama's hand as well...clearly shows he wanted to fight them but had the common sense not to...the odds were against him...20 to 1...what could he have done???
i feel that even if he didnt know about mariam he would have still gone back for her!
and i m not saying this cos i love asad or something...i have many more favrites b4 him...but i thought the writers pretty much were able to show how he was helpless!

i do agree with u ...yes for a moment it did seem like asad did not care but then i agree with Laila 2009 too he did smart thing to get away from the scene and come back again...it was the most realistic scene.

he must have calculated that he may come back and save zoya rather then break into fight which may harm her even more plus he too would be dead here cvs tried to show Asad more of normal human then a brainless superman

Plus cvs wanted to show realisation thing in Asad, the realisation that Zoya has always been right and its he who is stubborn enough not to understand her broad point of view about things and her very kind heart .which is now making him fall in love with her
