However I don't entirely agree with you. Asad fighting would've been inappropriate. Especially cuz he was at multiple gun points and sword points. The guy is a very practical and calculated man. He would never leave if he knew he had even the slightest chance of saving her without leaving. I do believe he was processing and assessing the situation as they were escorting him away.
Like you though I wished they had shown a bit of a struggle... pleading, bargaining, a physical refusal to walk, mentally searching for an escape plan from the car, etc. It would've added more realism to the situation. It would've shown that he wasn't contemplating on whether to save her or not but on how to save her, which is much more Asad-like. He's too honorable to not try at first chance. But, I know where you're coming from. It just depends on one's perspective. Personally I'm content with what was shown. Him being forced to leave showed his helplessness which caused a greater emotional impact on us viewers as he went bonkers looking for her. It was a smart literary n cinematic trick.

My poor poor Zoya... Asad you better repent!

LOVE your reply! And your view point (like many others who have kindly disagreed 😊) makes a lot of sense! I guess I am stuck in my 'realm of the romantic' where I want whatever happens to my OTP to be perfect.

I live in a dream world, eh?

And OMG it would be SO AWESOME if Zoya was our best friend. I'd totally plot ways in which Asad and Zoya would end up in cutesy situations and play cupid for them 😃

But I don't completely agree. I'm glad they did show him fighting 15 people with swords, guns and shovels and their own man-power. I hate it when they show Asad fighting off 50 times the number of goons. And especially when he punches them and they go flying. What the hell is that?

This was more realistic. I don't think it took him that long to get that "Oh shit, I was wrong." He realized it a lot sooner but obviously with pointy things and crazy people around you, the smarter option would have been to walk away at that point.

If he had done something about it, they would have both died and although it seems like the brave thing to do, at least this way both of them would have a chance to survive.

At the end of the day, don't worry too much. The hero always saves the chick. And they'll start fighting and Zoya will start "Allah Miya"-ing pretty soon. In fact, that's probably what her first words will be when she's conscious!

LOL šŸ˜† So true! I love Zoya : )

I don't think he was formulating a plan. Like someone mentioned in one post, it was an 'aha, now I will run back' moment a minute after getting off the bus instead of the 'Im running back as soon as I get of the bus' moment as soon as he stepped off the bus. On this account, the PH has failed to clearly depict his thoughts if he was indeed formulating a plan. They might show it as a flashback tomorrow but as of now, that's how I feel.

Remember that in anger or in spur-of-the-moment situations this guy is not at all, in any way, calm and calculated. He is short tempered and very impulsive when angry. When he is angry, he shoves Zoya, tells her to get the hell out of his house, he repeatedly tells Firoz that Ayaan is his brother while beating him to death without thinking of consequences.

For me the scene would be more than good enough if he had pleaded. No physical force, no resistance, just verbal pleas and requests would have been perfect along with an immediate running back to the site after making sure the gundas are out of sight.

He was silent because he contemplated leaving her there. Just for a second.

To me that made it all the more real.

Asad doesn't feel anything romantically (or so he thinks) for Zoya. He has a family at home he needs to get back to.

When people have guns to your head you think about yourself not someone you think is unwanted in your life.

But he came back. That's the message here. He came back. That says something about his character. And where this story is going.

The characters are flawed. Asad was wrong in leaving Zoya. But that's what made it that much more believable.

Well to me at least.

I am okay with this point of view of yours. I'm ok with accepting that he was being realistic. I'm okay in admitting that he was flawed and selfish and human and non-heroic in that moment. I'm ok with calling a spade a spade. Definitely agree with that.

What I'm expressing dissent on is the idea that he was formulating a plan from the moment he walked away from Zoya. That to me is rationalization by the viewers because of an interest in holding Asad above the blame of being too practical. That to me is apology.

Same here.

For me it was a split second epiphany. Asad is human and I really liked that. He is not that typical God Complex hero whose main aim is to save the damsel in distress.

Which has me thinking suppose it was some one else not Zoya who was being buried alive, would he have come back?

Was his reaction humane or because he felt something(not yet love but definitely attachment of some sort) for Zoya?

^I think Asad would have returned for anyone. It was humanity, not love.

Interesting.

I'd love to hear what others think about this. Would Asad have returned had it not been Zoya but someone else?

I know some people have said that he couldn't take on so many gunday, it wouldn't be realistic, but HELLO, this is a show! Since when do we look for so much realism?! TV serials for m are a form of escapism. They've shown one-hero-gagillion-gunday scenes several times before. Heck, even Asad has had a scene where he took on so many gunday!

Realism is good. It's all good. But in real life I would NEVER leave my unconscious house-guest (or any innocent person for that matter) alone in the jungle with KAMEENAY GUNDAY WHO POSSESS GUNS AND WHATNOT OH AND DID I MENTION SHOVELS, AND THEN LEAVE SAID INNOCENT PERSON, ARRIVE AT THE HIGHWAY, SUDDENLY REALIZE, "OH, actually, no, I don't want her dead" AND THEN DECIDE TO GO LOOK FOR HER, KNOWING SHE'S PROBABLY BEEN BURIED ALIVE ALREADY.

šŸ‘I agree with everything you just said! Especially ^. People are talking about realism and Asad being practical..umm..ok..where did this sudden practicality come from?! we've never seen it before!

If he would have come back for anyone then there was no need for the epiphany or leaving and then coming back or the guilt and regret that he felt.

Was it because of obligation/guilt or done with the heart? Now that question can only be answered with time.
