ROFL! Your last paragraph literally in the real literal sense cracked me up. I LOLed at that! Because I always so wish Zoya was real so she could be my bestest friend and we could do all those things together. š š³ I adore her as much as you expressed you do and my heart breaks into pieces even when she is remotely sad.
However I don't entirely agree with you. Asad fighting would've been inappropriate. Especially cuz he was at multiple gun points and sword points. The guy is a very practical and calculated man. He would never leave if he knew he had even the slightest chance of saving her without leaving. I do believe he was processing and assessing the situation as they were escorting him away.
Like you though I wished they had shown a bit of a struggle... pleading, bargaining, a physical refusal to walk, mentally searching for an escape plan from the car, etc. It would've added more realism to the situation. It would've shown that he wasn't contemplating on whether to save her or not but on how to save her, which is much more Asad-like. He's too honorable to not try at first chance. But, I know where you're coming from. It just depends on one's perspective. Personally I'm content with what was shown. Him being forced to leave showed his helplessness which caused a greater emotional impact on us viewers as he went bonkers looking for her. It was a smart literary n cinematic trick.
My poor poor Zoya... Asad you better repent!
