An Ibuprofen for Your Thoughts
(I'm sick so pennies aren't going to do much)
So I mean I should introduce myself but that's not really important right now.
I initially wasn't going to watch this show because after IPKKND ended I thought it was time I get back to my real life and stop obsessing over shows as a whole but after reading the inevitable articles posted about this show I couldn't help myself.
So here are some of my thoughts:
Characters:
Zoya: I don't even know where to begin. I absolutely LOVE her character, everything she stands for is everything I firmly believe in. I love how she refuses to remain silent and she always listens to her heart. She doesn't believe in the term "Maryada" because Indians have redefined the term into something so regressive and submissive. Maybe it's because I see myself in her but I absolutely love her character and she steals the show for me every time.
Asad: In contrast to Zoya, Asad's character is not my favorite per say. Simply because I mean the dude tells Zoya to shut up at times when he should support her, but I guess that's his character. I do however like that his only "khataa" is that he's just very rooted in traditions and values and blindly believes in them, but he's not a kameena. When he heard that Mariam was being forced to married with the guy that raped her he was raged and that restored my faith in Asad but other than that I'm not really a huge fan. But then again that's why Zoya's there, usse line pe lane ke liye. I do love his respect for people though and his relationship with Dilshaad is admirable.
Ayan: I don't know much about his character but I feel like he's being scapegoated for everything in is family. It's getting kind of ridiculous. I mean first and foremost pyaare mamu HE AND THE GIRL HAD THEIR CLOTHES ON. If Mamu Jaan knows anything about the human reproduction process he should know that you can't "do it" with your clothes on. Well at least your pants. Mamu jaan makes me facepalm so much. Anyways Ayan seems like a moralistic guy, a caring one, he's bit more fun than his bro and when he said "Main Mohabbat ke bina nikhaa nahi kar sakta" my dil went . It showed that he's not that blindly into "Maa Baap ke ghulam bano" mentality (when your parents are wrong that is) and I feel really bad for him but I do really think his character has a lot of potential.
I'm not really gonna talk much about the other character except Rashid, I mean COME ON MAN, I bet worms have more of a spine than he'll ever have.
Actors:
KSG: I am aware he has an army of fans but I've never seen any of his shows so I'm not a crazed fan, I did see his TMLS short film and I loved it. He can really act and he's pretty hot.
Surbhi Jyoti: I can't be bias about her cause I love Zoya, and so I don't really have the right to say anything about her or any of the actors as people but as actors, she's really good (from what I've seen) and I love her eyes!
Rishaab Sinha: Ok I have a boyfriend but seriously this dude it CU-TE! His acting and dialogue delivery is getting there (can't be bias cause I think he's cute) but once again I think he's fudging adorbs!!
Story Overall:
Well todays episode, one thing made me laugh and I feel kinda bad cause it was inappropriate timing but when Asad started searching for Zoya and "Jaane Nahi Denge Tujhe" came on I was like REALLY? COME ON! Are they REALLY playing that song!!!
I don't know I just didn't feel like it fit. Ugh.. Don't mind me I'm just weird like that.
Getting back to the story I like this stage (the honeymoon aka the first falling in love stage) and I like how he who never really gave a shit (well never consciously gave a shit) about Zoya sort got a wake up call and realized that she actually means something to him. He's not exactly in love yet.
Muslim Portrayal and Social Statements:
There are posts about how this show portrays Muslims but honestly I don't see it as "The Muslim Show". Why is everything and anything that concerns Muslims all of a sudden become a social statement. I am not Muslim but I have Muslim friends and they tell me how they hate being constantly judged by everything they do, say, or feel. If someone or something is Muslim and they are doing/portraying something that does not make whatever that something is a political or social statement.
Have you seen the Ekta shows? I can't even begin with it but there are so many ridiculous things that go on. But they aren't saying anything about how Hindus are so why take whatever happens in a show where the backdrop is Muslim and then make it a statement? It's an Indian Serial, (serials=idiotic melodrama is natural) the stuff that goes on happens in Indian households regardless of whatever religion the family is. And "Indian" is a nationality NOT a religion.
Ok so I'm really sick and my throat is super dry (DARN YOU FLU!!!) so I must take my leave now, do leave me an ibuprofen for my thoughts and share yours.
Quick Intro (that I skipped in the beginning): My name is Shweta, I'm an Indian my parents are from the state of Gujrat and no I do not enjoy Kakhras (I do like dhoklas however). I was an active member of the IPKKND forum from where some of you may know me and I did recently join the Madhubala forum. I don't do much on IF now a days due to work overload, illness (like today), and other time restrictions. I love chocolate and Sidharth Malhotra so if any of you have his number PM it to me and that's about it. Bye!
