I'll disagree on this. He after-thought, his epiphany could have potentially been about any human being, especially if he knew him/her not just someone he feels something for. In the threat of the moment, he walked away. Once the immediate threat of guns and swords was gone, the realization of leaving someone/anyone to die of suffocation may have hit him invoking guilt and humanity (reasons 1 and 2). Given that that someone was Zoya, the potential feeling of attachment might have been an additional reason (reason 3) for his return. Reason 3 could explain his frantic, emotional nature of the search but it does not solely explain the initial cause of returning, to me. For a guy like Asad, I think reasons 1 and 2 would have sufficed to make a return.

I think we're mixing what the PH's intention was vs. taking the scene at face value leaving the director's intentions out.

of course Asad new, but he also knew that he alone could not fight all those men with guns and swords. they would both be dead with no one to help or to know what happened to them. Asad is a triditionlist but he is not back word. i think his main concern is not Zoya intefering with other people problems, its her getting into trouble for it. if he didnt care for Zoya he would not have come to her rescue after she helped maryam escape.
he never wanted to leave zoya there, it was evident in the way he kept looking back at her, and pleading with mamu to let her go, when he realised there was no reasoning with these people he had to walk away to come back.
and i believe it was the smart thing to do.

Which one are you?

I'm the spade a spade realist. Number 2. I think you are number 2 as well.

I yearn for romanticism (number 3) but I am number 2 by all means.

This makes sense.

He would have returned for anyone but the emotional outburst was Zoya induced.

i have to disagree with you...Asad was in a mess. He and two guns to his head and a sword. You move a couple of centimeters and you are getting sliced. Ever been in a fight? Ever tried to fight someone? No. Even in martial arts training the first rule of thumb is to get away.

Asad had NO choice; what would he have achieved if he tried to fight - he would have died. He would have been no use to Zoya. His first goal was to STAY ALIVE. He did that. He got to the bus stop and it was not a realization that he must save Zoya it was a chance for him to save her...all along I believe he was looking for that opportunity. He kept looking over his shoulder (and to me he was making note as to what was happening, where she was buried etc) because to me, Asad was going to come back and save her and when he knew he could save her, he want back for her.

Asad was a real hero here...he could have been killed if the men were still there, but fortunately they were not and he had a chance to save Zoya. He could have been a real jerk and never gone back but he didn't. I don't think once that he never intended not to go back.

agree with u

let bygones be bygones
in short mitti pao..ki farq painda aye...
zoya is alive and asad hugged her madly...this was enough for me to forget the insanity of CVs 😆
but tell me how can a man fight with 20 goons having weapons😆even blood relations would choose to save their lives first..so dont expect much from asad.

Only thing i was a bit disappointed about was the fact that he waited a moment at the bus station before he ran back :/ but everything else was justified.

OMG I AGREE WITH YOU 100%

But what I had to re-assure my self with was that at the end of the day, this is drama and not real!!! Only that way I could get over it!

I never ever ever ever expect the hero of any serial to leave a girl in danger for even a second! I guess even if this is so typical situation of an Indian serial, I don't mind! I can't have it or digest it any other way!
