Other shows may show negativity, murder, face change but religion is emphasized at being the root of the good that gets rid of these evils. However here religion is blamed for the evils and is never shown to cure them.
e.g we never see asad, zoya, any good character praying and seeking help from god as we see in hindu drama's
Nobody emphasizes through speech that the evil characters are going against Islam.
If this was just a love story...why did the makers stress that it was a show that would redefine islam or atleast muslims in the eye of the viewer?

Thank you, you're response is refreshing!! Coming to your post, EXACTLYY!! They should've never created the hype about " Oh its a muslim show and we have set out to eradicate geenralizations about a particular religion." If they told me to look at this as another love story then I wouldn't care about these things, but the whole issue is that not only did they create the hype, but they also said that Gul herself is Muslim so I thought she'd be genuinely interested in creating understanding b/w Muslims and the other religions in India. OMGG, I agree on that too, and I swear I was going to add in my previous response to U that I never see the characters praying, but I thought you would think that I want to see a religious show lol!! It's just that I never see them having religious ceremonies like there are in other shows on TV. Whenever there is a problem, no one calls upon God to help them. They can't show the God in some form but they can show people performing Salaah or talking about doing it right?? Muslims are required to pray 5 times a day, but in 61 episodes I only saw Asad and Zoya pray once. And yes, no one is telling Mamu that forcing a girl for Nikaah is haram. No one is telling Razia that what she is doing is wrong from an Islamic perspective.
What bothers me the most is that, Zoya always does something for a good reason, but her justifications include nothing about Islam. If the show was to remove stereotypes then she needs tov voice these things as the protagonist. I mean who ELSE is going to do that if not the leads?? They just keep saying that something is wrong based on their moral values, but never on the basis of religion. Comparatively in Himdu shows, we see the lead girls talking to their God and indications that their God is listening to them via flowers falling or the sound of bells in temples.

This show is shown as Indian muslims. If this were to be based on Pakistani cultures it would have been different.

Like any show it has the negative people it has nothing to do with the religion, but I think the biggest problem is how marriage is prorated every time in QH.

For once I would like to see a happy marriage going on in QH.

No, Muslims aren't the only one that face these problems you don't even have to be Indian it could be any race and culture.

There's definitely a track going on in this show that every Muslim wedding that is going to happen in this show it's going to end up bad so on that sense it is portraying Islam in the wrong way.

This show from the start lacked the proper Muslim and Islamic ways.

i totally agree with @Racha , its not matter of religion Muslim, Hindu or Christianity, its just the culture and society in which we live, its not about India. everywhere in the world money and manipulation is more important than values, morals and LOVE.
cv's dont just create such villains from their imagination, (they do stretch the negativity sometimes) but these characters also come from every day life. that one person in home that's always trying to mess things up intentionally or unintentionally.

As much as I hate to admit it, but I have to say that despite being the largest democracy in the world and a so called progressive society, in India these things do happen. Child marriage, female infanticide, rapes, marital abuse etc are still rampant in our country irrespective of religion, caste and community. Since this show is set up in a muslim backdrop, we are seeing all good and bad things related to them who happen to be muslims. That doesnt mean people from other religions are not involved in such heinous crimes. These are all social crimes nothing to do with showing any particular religion in bad light😊

I agree.

Much as I love this show and am big fan of asad and zoya, I don't see the show fighting the stereotypes created about muslims but yes solidiying them as you say.
Every wedding is a scene of forcing and violence and the positive characters are not given enough space to counter the negative views.
I'd like to see Qubool Hai challenge these wrong doings in the way Balikha Vadhu is...now that's a show with a strong social message.
I'd love for Qubool Hai to be revolutionary in creating new views of Muslims
And yes in this day and age when islam is under attack from every corner of the world it is vital for shows to represent muslims in a positive light...and not captur stereotypes the way Hollywood has been doing for years.
I think those of us disappointed were thinking this show would be working along the lines of Kingdom of Heaven or My Name is Khan

Agree with every single word you said 👏👏

While watching Qubool Hai i get the same feeling of frustration which i get when i watch a documentry or programme on India in any western country and they never show any positive thing about India but only negatives like slums/poverty/lack of educations/social problems etc

Those who are saying that the show is not based on religion then as far as i remember show was presented as story focusing on muslim background/community and so i expected some elements of normal muslim families/traditions but until now i have come across nothing of that sort sadly. Besides with all the negativity about muslim community worldwide it won't do PH any harm if then can show some positive thing about muslim culture.

There is too much of negativity - more than a normal indian soap . This is the 1st show i have watched where majority of the characters think in a negative way .

Leave aside all the masala they are filling in with all the fighting every week with all the guns, knives and talwars and what not (i agree that it's enjoyable to a limit), they have made a joke of the word Nikaah and turned it into a forced marriage/qubool nahin hai every time.

But with all the negativity i applaud the actors playing all the characters and they are the ones who have made it worth watching so a qudoos to majority of the actors and i will continue watching it for them until i can tolerate it.

I think religion is a factor in this show, but not a very huge one. The characteristics of the people u mentioned have nothing to do with their religion. I think dowry, honor killings and forced are more a part of culture then religion, and are common practices in the underdeveloped areas of both India and Pakistan.
As for the negative roles, i think belonging to a certain religion does not give u superiority over another person. Plus there has to be kitchen politics and negativity in order to balance the romantic track.
There is no prejudice involved in what i just said, its my honest opinion.
P.S I m from Peshawar, and i love this show

Dear Ashrun- I can understand your frustration. Honestly, the entire village track was in keeping with the honor killings that is "real life' news. As for the "rape victim" being forced to marry- yet another case of "real life"- the makers of this show are certainly trying to make this topically relevant and also make the viewers think about serious social issues that are still prevalent in some pockets of our nation. Had this show picked a "hindu" family, they would have shown the same storyline, just that the women would have worn a big bindi and more saris.

Please do not read into it as being "negative" against muslims- on the contrary, the very character of Asad, Zoya, Dilshad, Asad's grandma, Ayan, ayans' sisters, all of them show modern Indian Muslims in a very good light- people with voices, people who think for themselves, people who are ready to take their life into their own hands and question authority when wrong but submit to traditional values- be it agreeing to a promise demanded of their mother etc.

Just the other day, I was commenting about this very nature of modern youth in India- there is no "muslim youth or Hindu or christian youth- there is a "rural" youth and an "urban" youth in India today- their value systems are defined based on their cosmopolitan growth reflected by the opportunities they are exposed to. Religion has become a very small part of their lives. They respect it, in their own way but do not allow it to dictate how they lead their lives.

In every Indian soap, there are villians and most of them are women shown to be bitching around. There would be a lot of difficulties to try to move a story forward without something at least a little bad creating some conflict.

Razia is doing this for some ulterior motive and if she's ready to go to this extent, it must be pretty big. But agreed that she's borderline evil, if not evil right now. But then again, desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Haseena is pure evil.

Shireen isn't evil at all. She's just plain dumb most of the time.

Rashid isn't evil either. He's something worse – he's a spineless man that cannot stand up for something he loves. But still not evil.

For all the girls in the family, you have to understand that this is a very conservative Muslim family. And if your own father is practically in debt to a man who's house you've been living inside for all your life, you can't really go against that person without some hard core proof to prove your point. And that's why Nikhat isn't speaking up.

What Humaira did today was too extreme for me. But again, if you've grown up you're whole life being so sheltered and only loved one person your whole life. For that girl to lose her childhood love and drop so low in the eyes of all her family, that's like stealing everything she's ever owned. It was a big step. But I believe she will be able to stop the engagement with Ayaan and she will stand up.

I think showing realities of a village is not really that bad. It does happen and it can happen, so why not show it? Just look at the infamous Delhi rape case. It's utterly disgusting but it's reality and if they want to show this side of an Indian culture, it doesn't mean they're showing them in negative light. While one girl was shown to be weak and committing suicide, Zoya was also another Muslim girl who was shown to help her and not care for her own life.

I think given time, the show will slowly change and the women who seem feeble right now will become stronger and develop a voice of their own. Just because a few characters are evil doesn't mean things can't change!

well i dont think anything they are showing really has anything to do with religion. these characters could have been any religion. and i dont think that just because they are muslim they cant be villains.

i do agree that there was no need to once again show a girl not wanting to get married and then all the entire family go on a hunt to kill the bride. but i think that again has more to do with small town and village culture more than religion. and also the show did give good messages like zoya's and dilshad's strong personalities, ayaan's speech on repecting women, being helpful with all the stranger uncles helping zoya in her search for her father.

i dont think they is any misrepresentation of MUSLIMS in this show because no one is doing anything in the name of religion. There is misrepresentation of WOMEN (haseena, razia, humaira, nikhat) but thats in every indian show and even small towns. But the current track with the whole villiage thing, that is something that happens or atleast I have seen news segments about instances like that.

and i do with they stopped with all the fighting and manhunt episodes and just had a little fun.
