Shah Rukh Khan brings home first National award & Gauri Khan has special plans: "Now I'am......"

After more than three decades in the industry, Shah Rukh Khan finally has a National Award to his name. At the 71st National Film Awards held in New Delhi on September 23, the superstar took home the Best Actor trophy for his powerhouse performance in Atlee’s blockbuster Jawan. It’s a landmark achievement for the actor who has ruled hearts since his early theatre days in Delhi and gone on to become one of the most recognisable faces of Indian cinema.

The evening turned even more special when President Droupadi Murmu presented him the honour. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, introduced him with words that captured the nation’s admiration: “The man whose smile crosses borders and whose dialogues have become part of our collective vocabulary receives his first award… he is not just a National Award winner but the King of Hearts.”

Gauri’s Proud Tribute

Back home, Gauri Khan shared her excitement with fans. Posting a striking photo of her husband, she wrote, “What a journey it’s been @iamsrk. Congratulations on winning the National Award!!! So deserving… it’s a result of your years of hardwork and dedication. Now I’m designing a special mantle for this award.” Her heartfelt message mirrored the emotions of millions who have followed SRK’s remarkable journey.

At the ceremony, Shah Rukh looked every bit the star in a classic black coat, seated next to his longtime friend and co-star Rani Mukerji, who herself won Best Actress for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.

The Road Ahead For SRK

Jawan, directed by Atlee, showcased Shah Rukh in a dual role and broke box-office records with its mix of action, drama, and social message. With this win, the film cements its place as a career-defining milestone.

The actor isn’t slowing down. He’s currently working on King, an action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand and slated for a 2026 release. On the production side, SRK is cheering for his son Aryan Khan, whose debut series The Ba*ds of Bollywood** recently launched on Netflix under the family banner.
