Are we saying that when we see such things in other religion it is permissible but when it comes to our religion we make an exception!!!!

Why do we have to treat a show with muslim background different than other??

A show is work of fiction...which needs lots of drama..and so certain scenes are created for that purpose...why compare it to normal life??

I agree.

Much as I love this show and am big fan of asad and zoya, I don't see the show fighting the stereotypes created about muslims but yes solidiying them as you say.
Every wedding is a scene of forcing and violence and the positive characters are not given enough space to counter the negative views.
I'd like to see Qubool Hai challenge these wrong doings in the way Balikha Vadhu is...now that's a show with a strong social message.
I'd love for Qubool Hai to be revolutionary in creating new views of Muslims
And yes in this day and age when islam is under attack from every corner of the world it is vital for shows to represent muslims in a positive light...and not captur stereotypes the way Hollywood has been doing for years.
I think those of us disappointed were thinking this show would be working along the lines of Kingdom of Heaven or My Name is Khan

Can I just give you an air hug?? lol!! I am not saying that because you agreed but because you summarized what I wanted to say and made it more clear. Please don't mind me not adding to what you said because honestly, you said it ALL! 😊

Thanks to a few of the people who agreed. Those accusing me of raising my voice just because I am Muslim, you are not understanding what I'm saying so it's better to not argue because I replied twice to 2 people and wrote a long post, but people are STILL arguing about the same things and Im getting bored. If you don't want to read my posts then ignore them but dont make accusations. Disagreeing and making accusaions on the TM are different things.

From what I see, this show is like any other daily soap. It has the good characters and the evil characters. Even other shows based on Hindu characters have some evil characters doing a lot of bad things but it isn't really interpreted as portraying Hinduism in a bad light. Here too there are good characters like Asad, Zoya, Dilshaad, Najma, Ayaan, Nikhat... and then there are evil and not-so-good characters. I don't particularly find this show to be portraying Muslims in a bad light but then again, I'm not a Muslim so I may not be the best judge. And issues like dowry-demanding or forced marriages or honour killing do happen among some people even though religion is against these... so I don't particularly mind it if the cvs want to touch on these issues.

I wasn't very impressed with today's episode because there was way too much negativity in it. I spent the whole weekend (betweem studying), commenting on KSG and Surbhi's profile to increase their rank, and imagining what will happen in Monday's episode. However, what happened today was a below average episode. The last scene and song choice was heart-wrenching. KSG rocked as usual, but what is up with the wide range of negative characters on this show?!
They are making a show with a Muslim backdrop after ages on Indian TV, and they are showing only bad people with bad character like :
1. A selfish and greedy Mom- Rashid's Mother who told him to marry Shireen for moolah!
2. Haseena Bi- Another greedy woman and a bad mother who values moolah more than her son's choice which is Nikhat.
3.Razia- Another ridiculously manipulative and disguisting Mother
4. Rashid- who is apparently so helpless that he can't defend his son
5.Shireen- A brainless woman who doesn't trust her son, but only what she saw and what Razia says.
6. Nikhat- A spineless girl who can neither speak for herself nor her brother.
7.Humaira- A girl who is so weak that she is ready to harm herself, but cannot stand up for what is right because of fear!
Surbhi had once said in an interview that she is excited to the show because of the Muslim backdrop and that she saw some famous Pakistani dramas like " Dhoop Kinare", and "Humsafar" to learn how to play a Muslim character. KSG said he wouldn't show his tattoos and took urdu classes. If the actors are so into their characters, then why are the CVs bent upon messinge everything up? Gul had once said thats he will remove the stereotypes from peoples minds, but I just see her creating new ones and solidifying the old ones. Her previous shows had 1or 2 vilains. Here we have 4 . I just don't get it.
I agree that they can't show a perfect Muslim family and they need a villain, but the negativity is going overboard and the only normal people seem to be Dilshad, Najma, Asad and Zoya.
Also, what is with the uncivilized people in every wedding? We have already seen two girls, namely, Zoya and Maryam who were forced to get married. Well, if you're going to make a Muslim show and wanna show people's hypocricy then don't repeat the same idea twice. In Islam, the marriage is null and void if the girl or guy is not happy with it. Can the audience please be educated about these things without showing muslims like Akram and Mamu's family trying to kill anyone who gets in the way of their wrongdoings??
In short I just wanna say that this show was ONE of my ways of getting away from academic stress and everyday routine of life, but the storyline is getting disappointing and as a viewer, I have the right to express my opinions. There are a lot more issues that they can show, but they choose to show manipulative, weak women and fights and girls being forced to get married.
The last scene did bring tears to my eyes, I LOVE KSG and SJ and ONLY for them, I will hang on for as long as I can, but in between, I will voice my opinions because I want the show to be remembered as a piece of good quality drama and not just something that came and went because of fanaticism.

I COULDNT AGREE ANYMORE..
WELL SAID
I DONT KNOW WHY BUT THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHERE THEY TRY TO SHOW AS IF ISLAM IS SO HARSH ON WOMEN...

You know, had this been a real life situation, Zoya wouldn't have escaped alive. Forget the religion here. This would have been the same had any other woman of any religion dared to take such a bold step. Unfortunately, that's the truth of our villages in India.

Aw. I'm glad you've said what you have because it's the truth and i completely understand your viewpoint.
Other shows may show negativity, murder, face change but religion is emphasized at being the root of the good that gets rid of these evils. However here religion is blamed for the evils and is never shown to cure them.
e.g we never see asad, zoya, any good character praying and seeking help from god as we see in hindu drama's
Nobody emphasizes through speech that the evil characters are going against Islam.
If this was just a love story...why did the makers stress that it was a show that would redefine islam or atleast muslims in the eye of the viewer?

AshRun,
I agree that there was so much negativity. Life imitates art and vice versa. So, if they are showing forced marriages, there could be some in those rural areas. I don't know. I have been out of the country for more than a decade and cannot really comment on that.
Coming to the point of villains -
Who is the ultimate villain here? That is the question. I still have not pinpointed who the main villain is.
1. Razia - She is mean, a witch and a bitch, but is she the ultimate villain of the show? I don't think so. There should be some reason for her to force Ayaan and Humeira wedding. I remember in one episode herself saying that they cannot afford to send humeira to somebody's house after nikah with her husband in a conversation. Is it because Humeira is sick with some kind of a disease and they want to hide it ? Or they have nothing of theirs and everything is in Shireen's name so humeira weds ayaan and becomes the owner of all the property? Don't know and until the story unfolds, I will reserve giving her the title.
2. Mamu - Could it be him. If yes, what is his ulterior motive. I can only think of money through Shireen if that line is actually true.
3. Dadi - Did you guys see how Rashid shuts her up when she tries to say something? I believe she is not one of the strong characters. Could it be she lived in a village with her husband when all this Rashid, Shireen fiasco happened and had no role in it? Was Rashid's love marriage with Dilshad that she opposed and hence no attachment towards Dilshaad and her kids? She could've just come and started living with these people after her husband passed away. She is basically a dummy character then.
4. Rashid - With the story so far, if you ask me (a feminist), he is the villain of the story. He cheated on his wife. If he had not, then nothing like these would've happened. Unless, Razia did the same trick with Rashid and Shireen to retain Shireen and money under her husband's control. Maybe Rashid was working for Mamu and Razia placed this plot. If she did, won't it strike something in Rashid's mind now?

So, until there is more unfolding of the past, hard to say who the villain is. The main one I mean. Hasina Bi is not a villain by any means. She is just a greedy woman. I don't know much about Muslim culture, but lot of movies and soaps have been made based on dowry problems, so it is okay to show someone as a greedy person taking advantage of culture or tradition.

My opinion, no offense to anyone.

It has nothing to do with religion... It's Indian culture.. Many movies and dramas have shown all of this before from a different religions perspective..
I think they have a lot of negative characters so that they can create a lot of twists and turns quite easily.. It gives the show a good and solid base and can easily change the track when needed...
Just my opinion!
