Those accusing me of raising my voice just because I am Muslim, you are not understanding what I'm saying so it's better to not argue because I replied twice to 2 people and wrote a long post, but people are STILL arguing about the same things and Im getting bored. If you don't want to read my posts then ignore them but dont make accusations. Disagreeing and making accusaions on the TM are different things.

take a chill. why so intolerant? 😡Even in geet, there were plenty of evil stuff shown where her own family wanted to kill her as she is pregnant and didn't wanted to abort the child. In maryada more evil stuff were shown than these, never seen anyone say anything to that. i hate when certain people aspect preferential or different treatment and bring their religion up to create disharmony in society.

In my opinion, they are making fun of the word Nikaah! Rashid leaves Dilshad, Raziya manipulates the truth for daughters "Nikah". Girl is forced to get into Nikaah with her rapist, Zoya is forced for Nikaah by being kept at gunpoint. By the way, the good characters are only 3/ 15!! Very small amount indeed!! and How could I forget that they kept the Qaazi at gunpoint: the guy who was reading the surahs for Zoya-Akram.

What they are showing is that in life we have some terrible incidents of young women forced into marriages. These are important incidents when it comes to Asad and Zoya's which is one that is going to sincere and honest - at least from Zoya's end. It is an attempt to contrast their love as pure.

Guys,

This thread is under the Dev Team's review but it will NOT be closed until we find a strong reason to do so.

Religion should NOT be brought into this topic, as it is NOT religion BUT culture which the show is trying to influence. But more than that, this is a SHOW, a FICTIONAL show and that does not mean it will tend to agree with everything which happens.

Please be careful, do NOT get defensive and please understand it is NOT religion but culture which the show is talking about. Religion does not teach anyone to be greedy [I am pretty sure], it's the way you are brought up and INFLUENCED by the things and people around you that make you who you are.

So please NO more religion talks!

Thanks for the reply!! Yes, it was disturbing, and I wouldn't think that it is a religious implication had it not been for the fact that her previous shows did not have so many evil characters. Here we have Haseena, her brother, Raziya. Mamujaan, Rashid's Mom, and occasionally Rashid. We are Indian-Muslim, but my Mom had pakistani dramas in mind and wanted to see some good aspects of the culture, and not just these negative things in every single episode.

Seriously blaming religion is pathetic and shallow! Go and watch the k serials by Ekta Kapoor, there were a million evil characters most of which were woman, it's quite offending to a Muslim regarding ur claims, I'm a Muslim myself!

Hey Ash...great post! These things which are being shown, do happen especially in India more so in the rural sides and that is regardless of anything to do with religion. As for the vampy or weak women that are being portrayed to me are very real as in our society/culture we do have such women who are their own enemy or a fellow womens enemy for not taking a stand for their own justice or for the rights of their fellow women. It is women like Hasina and Razia which are a disgrace to womanhood and the soul reason for the ruination and mass destruction of themselves and other woman.I think Gul has done a commendable job of portaying such women with the contrast of a woman like Zoya who is very much a today's woman who wont take no nonsense, who will stand up for what she believes is right and what is right in the eyes of humanity and she will never let another woman be wronged.I do agree that there is an overdose of way too may negative female/male characters and there should be more shown of the real beauty of the Indian/Mulsim culture and religion and what it is like to be a part of a noramal day to day member of a Mulsim family...right now it is just coming across as that most Muslims are all brutal and attrocious people which is so not the case so they need to strike a balance between the two.

Thanks for a well-balanced post, you partly disagreed with me but in a manner which wasn't rude 😊
Yes, I know Gul did a good job of showing Zoya to be the complete opposite of the other women. Like I said in my post, she seems to be one of the normal people in the show LOL! I loved ALL of your post, and I highlighted the parts with which I agree the most. and BINGO!! Balance is what I want to see too. Maybe it doesn't have to do with religion, but the whole concept of Nikaah is being ridiculed like there is no tomorrow lol! Besides, moonstruck also posted two excellent posts explaining why I thought that way. I don't want to bring it up again because there is a DT note asking us not to, but if you have time, please read moonstruck's comments, she worded my thoughts brilliantly!

I cannot believe that anyone would report this thread. A viewer has been frustrated about the portrayal of Muslims, she comes here and instead of a good discussion about the show and if indeed it is an issue that needs to be addressed, do other viewers feel the same way or is it a misconception, people feel the need to close this post. I found this thread to have some healthy posts.

It does disappointment me that we cannot engage in healthy discussions on issues and instead feel the need to close down posts that offend our sentiments. I see no bashing or insulting going on here.

Thank you for not closing this thread.

The show is not focusing on Religion atm. It's got to do with culture. I for one applaud the creatives for bringing these social crimes and realities on the society up in the show. Gul said in the beginning that she will touch on these social issues. You can't ignore the existence of these problems. Shows like Na Aana Iss Desh Lado, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Keejo, Balika Vadhu have raised these types of issues too. This has nothing to do with religion. We need to understand that the makers are trying to say that the societal crimes and standard are NOT what Islam or any other religion teaches. Society, some cultural practices and the so called set standards are far from what any religion teach.

I COULDNT AGREE ANYMORE..
WELL SAID
I DONT KNOW WHY BUT THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHERE THEY TRY TO SHOW AS IF ISLAM IS SO HARSH ON WOMEN...

Unfortunately Zayah, there are aspects or interpretations of Islam that are harsh on women. It is only recently that women have learned that they have a say-so in whom they can marry. That was not the case even 20-25 years ago when a number of women were forced to marry. If you visit even western societies, we still encounter forced marriages. Britain has had numerous problems with this and has had to form a undercover squad to help rescue people who have returned to Pakistan, India etc who are being forced into marriages.

It is not just within Islam but in all South-East Asian cultures that this happening.
