Today's Take - The Past That Binds edt

Where to start today ... with the last scenes, the shadows of the past that hang heavy over both Rudra and Paro? Shadows that cast a heavy darkness over their present too ...

Or with the first few scenes ... the tender budding of new emotions, unfurling their delicate petals under the light of a hot desert sun ... two pairs of hazel eyes meeting again in the mirror ... words unspoken, emotions as yet unfamiliar, stirring in two wounded souls ...

Both are quiet, both are reticent, sparing of words ... keeping their thoughts imprisoned inside their hearts ... he is an emotionless soldier, his only relative his father ... she is a dutiful obedient daughter soon to be married to another.
Yet why did Rudra stop and turn at the mention of Paro's marriage? Why did Paro caress his blood on her sleeve?

The episode - starts with the last scene of yesterday, Paro stands frozen by the fire, horrified at the sight of her nightmare coming to life, so horrified that she can't move a muscle ... frozen to the spot despite the heat of the fire ...
and Rudra comes running back for her , vaulting over the wall of flames, just in time to catch her as she faints into his arms ...
(SN - how can a person faint standing? Not possible!!!)
And he stands for a long moment, transfixed by the delicate beauty in his arms ...

dil ki dhadkan sooni sooni
saansein bhi adhoori
aadha aadha mile to hove
kamiyan saari poori
Rahe kyun rootha rootha, man basiya
Rangrasiya rangrasiya
Rangrasiya rang jaave rang rang ne sapnon mein rangrasiya

Till his men drive up and he carries her away from the fire to safety ... revives her with water with a worried Bindi ... stops his men from questioning her ... orders that she be dropped safely home ... Rudra, the protector.
And as she opens her eyes, the first person she sees is him ... unblinking, direct, his gaze on her, hers on him ... till he turns and walks away ...
Bindi tries to explain ... they were only carrying byah ...
Whose byah?
Paro ka byah ...
And he turns ... and looks at her again ... a question in his eyes ... as though asking ...your byaah? how can you ...?
And she looks down ... as though in apology ... yet with a tiny frown, as though asking herself, why am I sorry? Why is he angry?

Because you are his, and he is yours ...

His man tries again, overruled ... 'drop the girls home.'
And two pairs of eyes meet again in a mirror ... meet and cannot look away ...
Till Rudra breaks contact again ... and Paro meets her old friend Rukmani the butterfly (or her great-great-great-great granddaughter 😛)

Back in the haveli ... the Rajmata is very fond of Paro, like a daughter, it seems ... and is as bitter with the BSD as her husband.
And Paro touches a blood stain on her sleeve ... his blood ... a soft touch, a caress ... a memory, a man running to save her bag, then running back to save her ...

While Rudra cauterises his wound with alcohol ... and drinks the rest .. is he too, remembering ...?

Bindi is all praises for the new BSD officer, Thakur-sa is not pleased at all ... he hates the BSD!!!

Rudra investigates the dead man ... he's an infiltrator from across the border.
Cutting, biting words for his junior ... you must be tired chasing two girls? And you let the main culprit run away. Go rest.
That officer must have shrivelled up in his shoes!

Memories of the past ...Paro's maami finds her mother's wedding lehnga for Paro ... and asks about her doll. Paro says she gave it away ... and she remembers the crying boy in the bus.

Rudra remembers his father ... bitter, harsh, still twisted in his memories of his unfaithful wife ... his refusal to come back to the place she betrayed him ... as long as Rudra's mother's eyes look at him, from Rudra's face, he can't forget his wife.
And by not forgetting, he doesn't allow his son to forget either ... beautiful women are not to be trusted ...
Both men trapped in the shadows of their past ... a betrayal one cannot forget, and does not allow the other to forget.

And Paro trapped in the nightmare that is her past ... a nightmare that she can't escape from, no matter how much she tries ... a nightmare reinforced today by another BSD man and another fire ... another day that almost brought destruction into her life ... the man's face lingers in her memory ... is this fire saviour or destroyer?

A rather emotional and sentimental dive into the past..Which leaves me with very less to say and hoping to read a lot tonight..
A totally jhakkass beginning with Rudra leaping across the fire right in time to catch the fainting Paro.. Loved how he carries her so effortlessly and that with a bullet lodged in his shoulder.. 😳😳

The rest of the BSD team, in the typical Indian police in films style arrives when all the action is over..And is quick to blame the girls😡 Rudra takes the side of the girls repeatedly.. So when he sees Paro with the weapons, he will feel all the more betrayed..

Thakurain takes care of Paro so sweetly.. Thakur sa comes in and Bindi baisa provokes him to say his epic dialogue and she leaves in tears.. Dont any of them smell anything fishy in his over- reaction ??

Loved today's flashback- Paro's face as she reminisces the episode!!😊

The scene of a shirtless Rudra was hot but going with the mood of the episode the memory that remains in my mind is of him pouring alcohol coldbloodedly into the wound.. Hope he got the bullet removed though..

How does a tattoo of a scorpion imply the goon is from sarhad paar?? Mhare understanding ke bahar hai..

Paro is to wear her mother's bridal dress.. Now this is traditionally considered lucky but for Paro, me shudders!! A very sentimental moment perfectly enacted by Sanaya!

Rudra reminisces.. I dont know what it was about that flashback but it almost had me in tears feeling sad for Rudra.. A father who should have been his support has instead become like a festering wound in the body.. His father's bitterness eats into any remaining humanity in Rudra and leaves behind a hollow shell of a man who only has alcohol to soothe his pains.. He is so hardened even a well meaning colleague's words only drive him deeper into the dungeons of his despair..

Paro's nightmares again, but now she clearly associates Rudra's face with them.. Will this lead to a positive result with her overcoming her fears or worsen it??

And the precap!!😭😭 I really like Bindi in spite of her blunders.. Thakur's devilry knows no limits.. But the reason why I dont like this is its making his character so one dimensionally evil.. Where are the shades of gray we were promised..😕

Today's episode makes me feel more sad for Rudra than Paro not because his pain is greater but because he's bearing it all alone..😭

Sanaya - 👍🏼
Ashish -👍🏼

Ensemble Cast - Perfect so far👍🏼
Behind the camera crew - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I sincerely hope they are able to balance the characters out especially Paro's as while everyone seems to be clear on Rudra's Character-sketch, there does not seem to be much clarity and maybe too much flexibility with respect to Paro's (warning bells at-least to me as I do not want an ounce of comedy from her in this show😡).

You have the Thakur who is two-faced and apparantly not an MCP as he made it clear today.

If the younger sister had been a boy, she would be buried in sand by now for praising BSD, so yeah that is different😕 . Also thankfully we still do not see him lusting after gals only guns, again
hatke.😳😆

You have the Thakur's wife who is all motherly especially towards Paro express her concern about a new BSD officer to her hubby - makes you wonder how closely involved is she with her hubby's dealings? Maybe it is her way of keeping a check on her hubby ki he is obsessed with guns not gals😈

I do wonder how the girls ended up in the Thakur's home , weren't they supposed to be dropped in their own home?

RP scenes that I absolutely loved - The first time she sees him in the mirror, the way he looks up at her in the rear-view mirror and his reaction when he finds out she is getting married in a week

Waisay bitwa/bitwa-sa/bit-sa/...? is following the glorious tradition of ladki dekhi, dimaag on vacation funda - When the junior officer tells him he suspects the girls' , R-sa brushes it off.

Kyon bhai the junior officer is not on a desert safari, has been longer in Birpur than him, chances of him knowing the locals and having some intelligence info are pretty good, but nope, R-sa decides to cut him off - CLINCHER for me as I got a character who is going to have less or no dialogues and by chance mil bhi gaya toh will be constantly cut off.

Faltu Gyaan - Every good show will have one character who may be a real bhai, cousin bhai, almost bhai with little or no dialogues - Show superhit hai boss!!!😉😆

p.s. - The Junior Officer👍🏼, I am 99.9% sure is the same guy who was the rich bratty kid in Pappu Can't dance saala song😎

Je mhara spot hove hai!! Samjhi ne chorii!!! 😆
Lo main aa gayi apna hak jamanne!!

To begin with beautifully put words, Diya!! Indeed the moment when Rudra looks at Paro speaks about a strange sense of loss that he feels. He has no intention to interpret or apprehend it, but then he is visibly disturbed even if that lasts for a nano second!

And boy! I love Rudra. He is everything that a raunchy sex appeal should be! And what a taunt! I am loving Aashish! All I can say is Game On Baby!!!

Beautiful post, as always..

Especially the way you start these days, with something touchy and striking..

Like today, their past and how that past is shaping their present day life.. I felt really bad for Rudra. He is living a life of hell..His own anguish get renewed every time he encounters his father.. Both are troubled by the same person, his mother.. he tries to forget and advises his father to do the same, only to be reminded that it is his eyes that wouldn't let him forget.. making him hate himself..

Paro on the other hand is comparatively in better situation so far.. She has a loving family to share the burden of her painful past, a friend like bindi and a butterfly - a breathing space, Rajmata is also close to her.. In fact her hell-life is yet to start although not very far... unfortunately that will be in the hands of her hero!

Wonderful episode.. In fact the whole week went perfect. The set is ready for the love story to begin.. Each episode surpassed the next and the excitement level went only higher..

Great show.. wonderful feeling.. really proud of sanaya, ashish and the whole team..

What I am loving in the show diya is the overall intrigue in the story ...we donot know how will each person react , hell we havn't been introduced to all the characters as yet . Unlike yesterday which was a spectacular episode in itself , this was " an ongoing story " episode which is much needed in a daily show
Their are so many dynamics in different relationships ..
We saw various relationships ...
Rudra - his father : complicated but with some affection
Paro- mamisa : beautiful and poignant
Thakur - bindi : dictatorial , arrogant
Thakur - thakurain : mysterious

The characters of rudra and paro are getting defined slowly. The 2 scenes which stayed in my mind was ...the ghost of a smile on rudra's face when he realises that his father is not picking the phone .their is affection there ..in all the hurt and crudety in their language / behaviour ..their is love .

The second being the poignant scene between mamisa and paro ...lovely and I loved the way it has been shot in lantern light ...paro is this beautiful , quiet simple girl who is hurting a lot inside and has internalised her pain . From the outside she is all sweet and smiling but inside is dealing with her nightmares and fears.

One more thing I noticed today was sanaya's voice modulation ..her voice is a lot deeper in this show , their is a theraav in it ...I am liking it 😊

Fantastic first week of rangrasiya . I will watch all the 5 episodes together over the weekend ...

Di, detail wala discussion will happen later but i want to add a one small point.. It is possible to faint while standing.. Personal experience of fainting countless times in school morning assembly, so much that I was finally excused out of it..😆😆 Its a different thing there was no Rudra around to catch poor me.. Instead it was my classmates, all girls..😭😭
