Nupur Sanon credits Kriti Sanon for standing by her relationship when their mother hesitated

Nupur Sanon recently spoke about the role her sister Kriti Sanon played in supporting her relationship with singer Stebin Ben. The actor shared details after her wedding celebrations, offering a glimpse into how family conversations shaped her personal journey before marriage.

On January 10, Nupur married Stebin in a Christian ceremony held in Udaipur. She wore an off shoulder white gown for the service. The following day, January 11, the couple completed their wedding through Hindu rituals. For the pheras, Nupur chose a Manish Malhotra lehenga in coral peach tones, reflecting a blend of traditions.

After the ceremonies in Rajasthan, the newlyweds returned to Mumbai with their families. They later hosted a reception for friends from the film and music industry. Soon after, Nupur spoke about her relationship, revealing that Kriti was the first person she confided in when she began dating Stebin.

In an interview with ETimes, Nupur said, “The first person I told about Stebin was my sister Kriti Sanon. We're five years apart but extremely close, we are like best friends. At that time, Stebin had just started professionally, so there wasn't much to show career wise. I spoke more about him as a person.”

She added that she played Stebin’s songs for her sister, who responded positively. According to Nupur, Kriti immediately recognised his potential. She recalled Kriti telling her that Stebin had a magical voice and immense talent. That early reassurance gave Nupur confidence during a phase when Stebin was still establishing himself in the industry.

Nupur shared that informing their mother took more time. She said, “A few months later, I told my mother. Initially, she was a little unsure, like most mothers, cautious about seriousness and the future.” She explained that Kriti stepped in and told their mother, “I've met Stebin. I've heard him. He's extremely talented and hardworking,” which helped ease concerns.

Nupur noted that Stebin’s own nature also played a role. She said he leaves a strong impression when meeting people, which helped matters progress smoothly. The couple dated for five years before marrying this month. They chose two ceremonies to honour both cultures, marking the start of their married life.
