Amazing episode today. although there were times when I was like, what? One of those was when Rudra is happily staring at an unconscious Paro while a fire is raging right there, next to them. And then he walked through fire. 😲 That was me.
But overall, an amazing episode. Thakur-Sa already showing his true colours. And scolding poor Bindi. Hmm, looks like Thakurain buys into his BSD-is-evil-incarnate crap. Or did she say that just to please him? Rudra's memories are so painful. Although Paro had a worse shock when her parents died, she was brought up with love. While Rudra had to make do with a father who still hasn't gotten over the betrayal of his beautiful wife. And one who reminds Rudra everyday that his presence is the reason for it. Because he has his mother' s eyes. About the JO Rudra dissed today- that one is going to come back with a very strong argument once Paro's baraat is caught. He'll probably taunt Rudra, I-told-you-so style. And that will only reinforce Rudra's belief that beautiful women are heartless, faithless. And that she played on his empathy.

Hehe ...walking through fire - cinematic liberty ... I get to see some Sunny Deol movie promos in the breaks ... those are truly horrendous! 😆 Action sequences in this show seem heavily inspired by Rohit Shetty and the likes ... to be admired, but not really taken seriously 😆

The relationship between Thakur -thakurain is going to be another interesting one ... waiting for the layers to peel off there ... especially if, as predicted, she really is Rudra's mother. She seems to pay lip service to Thakur's views on the BSD, but her expressions at the haveli, when he could not see her, were very different.

Rudra Paro ... a common tragic past ... different nurturing environments ... who is worse off? Rudra has one living parent, and there seems to be some affection there ... and probably his mother is alive as well ...
Paro has no one of her own, although the whole village seems to have adopted her ...

The JO will come back strongly with an I-told-you-so when Paro is caught with the guns ... she is in for trouble. Rudra will feel betrayed already ... a stormy start to the relationship.

great post! 😃

Great post Diya. Today's episode was lovely. I loved how Rudra ran to protect Paro from the blazing fire. Although he intended to punish the culprit, Paro became his priority and he ran to protect her. This is an indication that in the future he will leave his duty as an officer to protect and stay with his love. Poor Paro was grief stricken by the current happenings and the possibility of her nightmare becoming a reality. She faints from fright and exhaustion. Her savior Rudra comes on time to hold her in his arm as he prevents her from any injuries. For a moment, Rudra is shocked and overwhelmed to have an unconscious beauty in his arms. He looks at this innocent beauty and carries her securely in his arms, away from the fire and any other harm. I liked seeing Rudra's caring and protective side as he held an unknown and helpless girl. She was vulnerable and at his mercy and yet his only focus was to get her to safety.

Paro awakes to see Rudra's face first. Rudra seems to be kind today as he lets the girls off the hook. He doesn't feel like interrogating them as they have already been through a lot. He is momentarily surprised to learn that Paro is the bride. I suspect that he was partially disappointed but the officer in him masks his feelings. He glances at the beauty one last time in his rear mirror and he catches her gaze at his direction. For some reason they can't keep their eyes off each other, be it curiosity or simply attraction. Paro is probably surprised that a BSD officer saved her and her dignity. She has been raised to believe their cruelness and yet she is exposed to the generosity and civility of Rudra. On the other hand, Rudra may have kept a distance from women as he is an army officer, thus it's weird to be around a lovely and innocent girl.

I liked how Paro was worried about Rudra's injuries as his blood had stained her blouse. This is yet another connection that she is now tainted or bonded with his blood. Rudra risked his life to protect her and Paro is still overwhelmed and surprised by his actions. She knows that she would not be safe and alive if it was not for Rudra. But what about the tales she heard against BSDs, could Rudra be different?

It was interesting to see Tewajat and his wife verbally show their displeasure of the girls praising Rudra, a BSD officer. Tewajat angrily shouts at Bindi to stop praising the evil BSDs, he'd rather take the praises of a dog than these men. It is probably the first time that the girls are exposed to his anger, Paro is shocked while Bindi is in tears.

So apparently Paro is not allowed to leave her home without her doli. She's momentarily kept at home for the fear that anything bad may happen to her again. I loved the scene where mamisa gives Paro her mother's wedding attire and tells her that she can wear it for her wedding. Paro has tears of happiness as she embraces her mother's clothes. She feels as if she has her mother in her arms as she smells her fragrance from the attire. It was such an emotional scene. Sanaya was excellent in this scene. We could feel her longing and great love for her mother.

On the other hand, Rudra recalls his last talk with his father about leaving for Birpur. His father angrily denies going with his son only to be called by his name. Rudra tells his father to forget the treacherous woman who was his mother but his father claims he could never forget her as Rudra has her eyes. This scene was interesting for me as it shows a reversal of roles. When Rudra was a child, his father shoved a plate of roti in front of him and tried to force him to eat, he even said that his mother must be forgotten as she belonged to no one in particular. At that time, his father was the dominant one and now Rudra dominates his father. He gives a plate of food to his father and shouts at him to forget his ex-wife. It is interesting to witness how time has changed people and to what extent. Rudra has experienced a drastic change in character over the years and now he is ruthless and nothing but ruthless.

Paro experiences yet another nightmare but this one terrifies her further since she recognizes Rudra as her tormenter from her former nightmare. She is torn between reality and her dream. The precap is terrifying. I can't believe Tewajat kills Bindi so that he could not be exposed. He has fallen even further in my eyes. I'm excited for Paro's wedding and Paro-Rudra's next meeting. Ashish, Sanaya and Tarun were brilliant in today's episode.

Love your take, Sidda!

@red ... I had the same thoughts ... his focus changed from chasing the goons to running back to get her to safety ... an indication that she will always come first for him?

@blue - I like this a lot ... their upbringing has shaped their thoughts, hers about the BSD, his about beautiful women ... each will change the other's POV.

And we have four connections now ... the doll, the rudraksha, the mirrors and now the blood, his blood on her blouse ...

@pink ... despite the fact that she has been brought up with so much love and affection, Paro misses her parents ... beautifully shown by Sanaya in that scene.
On the other hand, Rudra, despite having at least one, if not two parents alive ... lacks a parent's affection ... BUT he at least has a sense of belonging, which Paro does not.

Rudra's scene with his father ... I have the same take as you ... a reversal of roles here, Rudra has done the parenting, his father is too lost in his bitterness and hate ... Yet there is a bond there, a rough affection ... an unspoken understanding of each others' wounds.

Nice write-up Diya.

I wanted to wait to the end of week to post just to see how it would unfold. The show has thankfully kept interest all week and the story is intriguing. What is nice so far is that many important characters have been introduced but a little at a time, nothing has been rushed, yet they have kept pace without dragging too much. Everybody seems to have a back story and that is interesting. And we have yet to see two important characters - Laila and the character played by Ananya Khare, so something to look forward to.
The cinematography is good and although the direction could be better at times (the fainting or running through fire or single handedly fighting all goons), there have been many lovely moments like the doll throwing, the shine of the mirrors, Rudra shielding Paro, the look in the mirror etc.
I think all the main cast has been chosen well. Ashish has been good in his body language and his expressions and I am glad. the show has a strong male character so we know there will be a story of him as well. The Thakur is also good; like him as the wolf in sheep's clothing. I have so wanted to see Sanaya in an emotional role where she has little dialogues and I am glad she is like that - there is a certain 'tehraav' to her which I wanted to see. I am still concerned that Paro may not be written as well as Rudra is - if this is an intense and edgy love story, the writers must pay attention to both. Too early to say, but would really like Sanaya's talent to be exploited and for her to do well.
Hoping the show doesn't lose momentum and doesn't fall victim to TRPs - it has much potential.

Nice review, kashi ... agree with all your points, especially the last ... about Paro's character. The recent articles have highlighted Rudra's character, but unless Paro's character is given equal importance and depth, the story will fall flat.

The show was initially advertised as Paro's journey ... the story of a girl who believes in love, and what happens when she meets a man who doesn't ... so I'm hopeful the makers will keep to that ... So far, Rudra and Paro's stories are being given equal importance, both are wounded souls in need of their other half. Hope they keep it that way.

Diya
So agree about the depth to be given to the character. We don't want the amnesia that Khushi's writers developed after the initial months. Although there is slight nervousness that the chemistry factor might take precedence over the story as happened with IPK. It would be total short-sightedness if that happened.
For now, as you said the two stories seem to be moving in parallel, so hoping it would be so.
I saw the SBB segment - does it not seem that they are unmasking Tejawat really quickly? From a hint of greyness on the second day, they have gone totally black on the 6th day with him trying to get rid of Bindi? Plus if Paro is being suspected of being hand in glove with him then it means unmasking before Paro too. Or is this for viewers only and villagers will not know for a long time? Or maybe because the outdoor shoot has to wrap up they are finishing Tejawat's role.
Sorry, I am being a wet blanket here perhaps, but I always suspect that creatives of most TV shows easily give up ownership of the story and what results is lazy writing. Very much hope I am wrong especially if they claim they have penned 200 episodes. Anyway that is pessimist and guarded me.
Wanted to mention about Sanaya's voice modulation which I know you enjoy too - I particularly liked the scene with the camel - just a few moments and the accent not totally there, but there was a soft, quiet concern in her voice and in her expression that I liked.

the hidden gem scene of the day , for me, was the rudra-ranawat convo.
the ease of the relationship with his dad.. how his dad has always been the bitter poisonous man, and cuts his call.. and rudy smiles. he is comfortable with the reaction, even expected it.. that was such a man's man connection. he is the adult in that relationship now.. his father is still stuck in the past..

i really like that the writers thought to include the father-son dynamics in the story, though it is so insignificant at this point. yes, ranawat's bitterness shaped his son's life, but his son is made of sterner stuff. he wanted to be strong, he became the strongest he could legally.. a BSD officer.. says more about rudra than that scene where he pours daaru on his scrape.

now i am scanning all the females in the cast.. which maata has hazel eyes?

To begin with beautifully put words, Diya!! Indeed the moment when Rudra looks at Paro speaks about a strange sense of loss that he feels. He has no intention to interpret or apprehend it, but then he is visibly disturbed even if that lasts for a nano second!

And boy! I love Rudra. He is everything that a raunchy sex appeal should be! And what a taunt! I am loving Aashish! All I can say is Game On Baby!!!

Am glad you felt it too! 😛 The moment was emphasized because he left Paro's side the moment she started to revive and turned and walked away ... the moment Bindi mentioned Paro's marriage, he turned around, the camera focussed on both their expressions at that moment ... he felt disturbed, strange ... while she was confused, almost guilty ... she lowered her eyes immediately.

Both are very good actors ... so what we see is exactly what they mean to show us.
Rudra is awesome! Ashish is doing real good! 👏 An actor to match Sanaya completely ... am so glad!

Beautiful post, as always..

Especially the way you start these days, with something touchy and striking..

Like today, their past and how that past is shaping their present day life.. I felt really bad for Rudra. He is living a life of hell..His own anguish get renewed every time he encounters his father.. Both are troubled by the same person, his mother.. he tries to forget and advises his father to do the same, only to be reminded that it is his eyes that wouldn't let him forget.. making him hate himself..

Paro on the other hand is comparatively in better situation so far.. She has a loving family to share the burden of her painful past, a friend like bindi and a butterfly - a breathing space, Rajmata is also close to her.. In fact her hell-life is yet to start although not very far... unfortunately that will be in the hands of her hero!

Wonderful episode.. In fact the whole week went perfect. The set is ready for the love story to begin.. Each episode surpassed the next and the excitement level went only higher..

Great show.. wonderful feeling.. really proud of sanaya, ashish and the whole team..

Thanks, Monica! 😳

Both are living a life which is shaped by their past ... both have been traumatized.

Which one is worse off ... while on the surface Rudra is worse off, he at least has someone to call his own, someone he belongs to ... while Paro has no one of her own. But she is better off in many ways, because in lieu of her parents, the whole village seems to have adopted her, especially the thakurain. She has been brought up surrounded by love ...

While Rudra, though living with a parent, has had to assume the parent's role ... and the bitterness his father feels has been completely internalised in Rudra. Neither has forgotten their past ... the hate in Rudra is fomented by his own father ... the hate in Paro takes the form of fear of the BSD and fire, the two elements she associates with her parents' death.

The stage is set ... the actors are in place ... the show starts now!
