The official trailer for The Bluff, starring Priyanka Chopra and Karl Urban, was released on Wednesday through Prime Video’s YouTube channel. Running over two minutes, it gives a glimpse into the high-stakes action and drama that defines the film.
The trailer shows Priyanka’s character fiercely protecting her daughter from a group of men led by Karl Urban’s character. She uses her bare hands, knives, stones, and a sword in confrontations that escalate into intense, brutal moments. Her rugged and intense appearance reflects a former pirate whose past comes back to challenge her, forcing her to confront situations she thought were behind her. In the trailer, she is referred to as “Bloody Mary.”

One user wrote, “Finally Priyanka is getting her due in the west. Can’t wait, queen. This trailer looks so promising!” Another commented, “Let’s just take a pause for Priyanka Chopra’s wonderful action. She deserves an Oscar for the acting.” Social media was filled with remarks such as, “Everything looks stunning… but my eyes refuse to look anywhere else but you @priyankachopra. Brave. Powerful. A true warrior. An absolute alpha.” On Instagram, one user added, “Priyanka, you are better than Karl Urban.”
Besides Priyanka and Karl, The Bluff features Temuera Morrison in a key role. The film is directed by Frank E Flowers and co-written by Flowers and Joe Ballarini. Produced by the Russo Brothers under AGBO and backed by Amazon MGM Studios, it is set to premiere on Prime Video on February 25.
Speaking to Variety, Priyanka shared insights about her character and the film’s approach to pirate life. “We are making an attempt to show what it was actually like to be a pirate in the 1700s, rather than recreating Pirates of the Caribbean. It was fascinating to research the lives of real-life pirates like the Irish woman Grace O’Malley,” she said.
She added that the film, shot in Australia but set in the Cayman Islands, depicts the islands as a hub where pirates from different regions—Scotland, Africa, India—interacted. Priyanka noted that this diversity provided a strong foundation for a varied and powerful cast, adding depth to the story beyond the usual fictional pirate portrayals.
