Mohanlal has confirmed that Drishyam 3 will release in cinemas worldwide on April 2, 2026. The announcement puts an end to months of speculation around the next chapter in the popular thriller franchise and signals the return of Georgekutty to the big screen.

The actor shared the update on social media, along with a short announcement teaser. While the clip does not reveal plot details, it sets a sombre tone. Mohanlal wrote, “Years passed. The past didn’t. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide Release | April 2, 2026.” The accompanying line, “The Past Never Stays Silent,” hints at unresolved truths resurfacing once again.

Drishyam 3 continues the story that began in 2013 with the original Malayalam film. The first part followed cable operator Georgekutty as he tried to protect his family after a crime linked to Varun Prabhakar, the son of senior police officer Geetha Prabhakar. The film was praised for its restraint and tension driven storytelling.

The second instalment, released in 2021 on an OTT platform, explored the long term emotional and psychological toll of living with secrets. Georgekutty’s careful planning kept the family safe, but the sense of threat never fully disappeared. The sequel ended on a note that suggested the past was still watching.

Directed once again by Jeethu Joseph, Drishyam 3 is expected to pick up from that lingering unease. While the makers have not shared story details, the announcement suggests that earlier actions will have consequences. The release plan also clarifies confusion around the Hindi adaptation. The Malayalam version will arrive first in April 2026. Ajay Devgn’s Hindi Drishyam 3 is slated for October 2, 2026, which falls on the actor’s birthday. The six month gap gives the original version a clear theatrical window.

Mohanlal returns as Georgekutty, with Meena reprising her role as Rani. Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Murali Gopy, and Siddique are also part of the cast. Their return keeps the emotional continuity intact.
