My predictions success rate is 10% but I am going to try it out nevertheless:

Fri : 11cr

Sat: 12 cr

Sun: 13-15 cr

Weekend range: 35 cr - 40 cr

Lifetime range: 85 - 95 cr

1) the hype has stayed consistent. There's enough titillation for the audience to watch the film. 😆 the songs have been received well. SLB, though has not had a great record, still is a big name...plus this film of his is completely different from his recently released films.

2) reviews will be good probably! which will help the numbers sustain!

3) it has a wide release.

4) the only things which will hurt its business: Krrish...it seems to be still popular; GTPM releasing within the next week which seems more family friendly and lighthearted with chartbuster songs.

SLB is a chalaak lomdi. Right before the release, he's gotten so much coverage due to the "national ban" controversy. People know it's releasing this Friday and if the reports of Advanced booking is anything to go by, then we know it shall open big...if nothing else. Seems like Sachin's match will not slow down the film much at all.

Opening day: 16 cr
Weekend: 50cr
Lifetime: 120cr

BOI:
Opening day: 10cr
Weekend: 35 cr
Lifetime: 80cr

I am not good with predictions. But Sachin's last test match will surely have an effect on the daytime shows. If India gets to bat first and Sachin is on crease Friday morning that will have an impact on the opening day collections.

I do agree with points 1 to 3. Adding on to point 1 the audience I think wants young well matched pairs in romantic movies. Irrespective of the content some films with a young lead pair did well this year.

Coming to point 4...K3 will lose out screens to RL in a big way if RL is really getting 3000+ screens. Because max capacity of screens in India for Hindi films is 4000 screens. With 3000+ screens even if occupancy is 20-25% on weekdays the numbers will still be high.

What will impact the film though is GTPM and Sachin's last test match scheduled on the same weekend.

I am still not sure why there's always a gap between Taran and BOI numbers. :S my prediction is somewhere between your 80 cr and 120 cr...I think 80 is too low for a film with such stars and release; while 120 is a bit more on the high end! 😆

I am not good with stats and film's economics AT ALL...but let me try to put forth some reasoning! 😆 I think in today's time with a wide release (that is 3000 screens!), it is very easy to put up big numbers on the opening day and the weekend...plus with prices hiked up also, it's not too far fetched when people like you and I predict above 10 - 12 cr for the opening day. It's quite reasonable. Now, I was browsing thru K3 threads, and apparently Rajjo is releasing as well next weekend and folks were speculating that the film will be allotted at least 1000-1200 screens...then there's K3 which is going strong so that will be allotted a good amount of screens as well. So with all that in mind, do you still think RL will be provided 3000 screens?...especially since 4000 screens is max as your pointed out.

Such gaps will become the norm now after K3. For producer's figures imagination is the limit. 😆

I would have given a higher number for BOI if GTPM, Bullet Raja were not releasing in subsequent weeks. These films are sure to take away screens.

39cr - Opening day

112 cr - First weekend

185cr - First week

310 - Total collections

But more realistically

8cr - Opening day

35cr - Weekend

75cr - Total

^LOL..Oh come one, I don't think any DP fans are being delusional about the product. 😆 Lots of people are happy though with its buzz, the pairing, the director, the songs etc so the fans are expecting it to fare well. I do agree with your "realistic" numbers, except I think the total would be in the 80-90 range.
