Mallika finds her man

Dharamsala-based Vijay Singh won the reality show, 'The Bachelorette India - Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika', beating 30 other competitors vying for Mallika Sherawat's heart.

Talking about this and about emerging as Mallika's favourite in the five week show, Vijay says, "I am very happy, though I was initially nervous, my confidence increased when I got the first rose from Mallika.

"I was a bit tensed during the finale as Karan Sagoo was a strong contender, but I just told Mallika that I wanted to be with her all my life and she liked my confidence and romantic nature."

When quizzed about how the couple planned on taking their relationship ahead and if there would be an engagement or wedding any time soon, he says, "We have a good mutual understanding and now that the show is over we have the time to discuss our future plans.

"How we go ahead depends on Mallika. She is flying to LA for a 10-day commitment, when she returns we can discuss things."

Vijay adds that it was their common middleclass background that helped the two connect.

"Mallika, like me, belongs to a small town and both of us have a middle-class state of mind, which is how we connected.

"My family is very happy with my win and are also fond of Mallika's mom," he says.

There had been quite a buzz recently when Mallika locked lips with Vijay on the show and he confesses that it was something special.

"My most special moment on the show was the date at Taj Mahal and my lip-lock with Mallika. It was so romantic that dimaag ne kaam karna band kiya tha. We were lost in the romantic setting and the kiss just happened."

Vijay is a model by profession but Mallika had maintained that she does not want someone from the modelling or entertainment industry, which is why he promised to give up modelling.

Speaking about the same, he says, "I have been in Mumbai a year now and was one of the winners at the 2003 Gladrags Manhunt pageant. As of now I'm participating in the upcoming Pune Fashion Week, but in the future, I plan to join the family business back home in Himachal Pradesh."
