Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is Google's most searched celebrity in India, furthermore she beats Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in a poll to be the most powerful actress in Bollywood in 2013.
Got to give this lady some credit to be at the top of her game with no acting skills and lesser important roles in big budget films.
A lot of backlash, a lot of negative comments, that's what is expected for this report. But frankly even the greatest Katrina Kaif fan will accept that she is just a Bollywood Barbie girl, not an actor.
This is not about 'I hate Katrina Kaif'; this is about how one can make this actress act. After all, that's the prerequisite being in the acting business, right?
So as Katrina celebrated her 29th birthday, boyfriend and actor Ranbir Kapoor must have had some surprise up his sleeves but we suggest his greatest gift would be some acting lessons during all their clandestine meetings.
Who could be a better teacher than the Kapoor boy who is dubbed as the next best thing in Bollywood, be it for his commercial success or his profound choice of movies.
As for Katrina one can only hope it's not too late to learn (lot of catching up to do).
Till now her best 'work' has been - blink...smile...blink...smile, sway in slow motion and strike few poses in beautiful locales with co-actors who have impeccable Box-Office record.
And let's not forget her ticket to stardom - some scintillating item numbers (remember 'Sheila' and 'Chameli', of course!).
One can argue who needs acting skills when one has claimed the top position only through her wooden expressions, pouts and Barbie Doll image.
That reminds me of Soman Kapoor's comment at Cannes 2012 when she said that one needs a certain kind of commitment and shamelessness to do things the way Katrina Kaif does.
"I would like to give Katrina a bouquet of flowers." When asked why, Sonam said: "I don't know how she does that. You need a certain kind of commitment and a certain kind of shamelessness to do certain things. You get that may be with stardom or with confidence in your talent or with who you are as a person. I need to develop that before I do films like that."
Well, we do not endorse Soman's comment but we couldn't ignore it.
To be completely honest, Katrina Kaif knows her limitations and probably that's the reason she stayed away from meaty roles.
And she isn't exactly vying for those roles and she made that clear, rather ex-boyfriend Salman Khan made that clear.
When asked why she doesn't choose more serious and powerful roles, Salman replied on her behalf saying Katrina has lot of time for serious roles. She can continue doing what she is does now (meaning just being visual relief).
Well, Salman is a thing of past. Now it's Ranbir time, so maybe with the influence of the present boyfriend Katrina will start acting - just maybe.
So let see some magical, alien concepts called 'expressions' and 'emotions' and 'action' by this ravishing beauty. 👏
