I am a die hard fan of classic Hindi cinema and always search for pure gold from the "real Hindi cinema" days.

Just came across Nautan and Balraj Sahini's classic movie "SEEMA" on youtube, and it as a heart touching beautiful classic to say the least.

A real treet to watch for REAL hindi cinema lovers... don't miss it.

sure...😊
I am glad people have good taste here and not only running after post 2000 lifeless factory products in the names of movies :(

I watched it for the first time, and loved it ... "mann mohana bade jhoote" and "choti si gudya ki lambi kahani" were heart touching ... they were the REAL movies made by heart imo, not by corporate sector's investments to mint and doubling their monies, which is a sad case nowadays :(

I can recommend you some real beautiful movies, if u have not watched them already

1. "PATHER PANCHALI (song of the little road)" part 1 of Appu's trilogy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CurcGnmI-IQ

2. "APARAJITO" part 2 of Appu's trilogy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_N0m4XcGjdE

3. "Apur Sansar (the world of Appu)" part 3 of Appu's trilogy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjqWGMoXJlQ

DO NOT MISS APPU'S TRILOGY AT ANY COST.

4. "SHATRANJ KE KHILARI" (another great great classic by satyajit rai)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uk6sIRGFsU&feature=related

5. "
UPHAAR" (simple & beautiful)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NdiCd0fmXI

6. "
BALIKA BADHU" (child bride)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YBqnQQiGmM&feature=related

7. "
SAUDAGAR" (most beautiful film of Amitabh, infect the only movie I liked of his young days, rest were all formulatic craps)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhe0xFmGX2Q

8. "
BACHCHA-YE ASEMAN (children of heaven) :
Superb Iranian movie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7KXhPimJjw

Wow! Great to find lover of old movies and songs! 😊

I've seen most of these films and that too several times except the Apu trilogy.

All movies called great nowadays are not even fit to hold a candle to classic cinema of yore.

Music, lyrics, acting, singing, story, dialogues, cinematography, screenplay...just about everything used to be top notch.

Nutan is what acting and natural beauty is all about unlike over-celebrated actresses of today's times.

There's never been a more natural and understated actor as Balraj Sahni ever again in Hindi cinema.

What I like about classic cinema is the conviction and heart with which these films are made. These films were not made with eye at any award, film festival or box office or any specific section of audience. These films were made because the maker wanted to make them! This feeling is missing in cinema since late 70s and moreso post 2000.

Films are business now. They are no longer an art, a creative calling...Dhanda hai isi liye ab ganda bhi hai.

Tanya, is there any classic cinema forum where one can discuss these films at length? I only know about Memsaab's blog and Upperstall. Wish there was some place to discuss themes explored in classic cinema.

Thanks Skepbuln... its also refreshing for me too find atleast some people who r discussing and interested in real hindi cinema, instead of searching high handed westernized socalled actors on airports and how many boyfriends socalled actresses of today changes every week 😆

OMG u have not watched appu's trilogy 😲 satya jet ray got an Oscar for this... it should be opne NUMBER ONE of your must watch list...
here is the first part... do watch with subtitles
patthar panchali (song of the little road)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7P1b6KjKoMa

than I will send you the remaining two parts too that r apparjito and apur sansar... its basically a story of a young boy's life divided in three parts... SHEER GENIUS and brilliance...

If you have not watched yet, do watch Rahul Bose's great movie

1. Slipt Wide Open (very controversial themes but yet true to core)

and abhay deol's

2. Road, movie

Do try to watch MG Husaain's Gaja Gamini (Madhuri, Srk, shabana azmi, naseerud din shah) too ... but its too abstract to understand at the first watch... I watched it couple of times and than understood it to a certain extent
