ARHI SS : BEYOND WORDS
So here i am again with a new story. This work is purely a figment of my dream that I had even before I wrote Yes Boss. I know this is coming really late but I had left it after writing a little and I got busy with Yes Boss too. Today finally I wrote some more and here it is.
It is different and I hope I have done justice to it. Do tell me how it has turned out. Do let me know what you think of this. Happy Reading!!!
Chapter-1
She woke up early today. She had to be there on time. Without disturbing her sleeping sister next to her, she tip-toed to the cupboard, took her clothes & went to bathroom to freshen up. She got ready wearing the black formal trousers, teaming it with a blue striped shirt & her favorite black blazer. She wore her favorite black pencil heel strap sandals to complete the look. She combed her hair & tied it lightly with pins to keep them half open. With a dab of lip gloss, she was ready for the day. She took a last look in the mirror to check her appearance & then told herself smilingly "You look too good Khushi Kumari Gupta"
She gave a look at her wrist watch, then panicked suddenly noticing the time. "Hey Devi Maiyya, I'll be late. Raksha karna. Hope everything goes fine. Wish me luck for today's meeting" After sending her prayers she immediately grabbed her bag rushing out of her home suddenly stopped by a voice "Khushi, have your breakfast"
"Jiji, I'll be late. Don't worry I'll eat in office."
With that, she just dashed out of her home leaving a half-smiling, half-amused Payal behind.
Looking at her watch she knew she was on time. She sat on her seat & was going through her presentation one last time just to be disturbed by her boss in between.
"Khushi, have you checked the presentation one last time?"
"Yes sir, everything is ready. No need to worry. I've double checked everything"
Mr. Mittal was an elderly man nearing the retirement age though still full of life. He has been a successful designer for years. But age was not on his side and so his company was a bit suffering. Not in any trouble but he now had comparatively less work unlike his early years. He was banking on this new project immensely both financially & personally.
Meeting was in the afternoon. So they headed for the conference with the prospective client after lunch. The meeting was good building in hopes of a future collaboration of working them together.
Khushi was relaxed thinking that she can get some rest now after weeks of hard work & sleepless nights. It was evening and she thought of heading straight to home. But when her plans have been fulfilled? Today was no different. Mr. Mittal told him that they've to go out somewhere before retiring for the day. Now how can she deny her boss, so she was ready for some boring meeting.
She had just thought to herself few minutes back that she'll jump in her bed & sleep for sometime before dinner but all her plans got dumped with this end minute meeting. She sighed thinking about all this.
Their car came to a halt in front of a club. Stepping out of the car, Khushi was able to get a good view of the place. The entrance of the club was highlighted with purple and white orchids taking an arch form. There were pink drapes in the background to enhance its soft look. Lightning was done very tastefully. The little water body with floating candles inside it was making it more classy and romantic at the same time.
"Let's get inside" These words brought Khushi out of her reverie. Why were they here? This is not a place for professional meetings. But hasn't Sir told me that we're here for a meeting or was I imagining it all by myself?
"What happened?"
"Umm'. Nothing. Sir, what are we doing here? I mean what kind of meeting do we have?"
"I'll tell you but first let's move inside. Everyone is waiting"
Everyone?? Who comes under this everyone, she thought. Are we here for some official party? Is everyone from office also there? Let's get inside Khushi, only then you'll find your answers. She told herself.
She entered the hall which was full of so many people. The interior of the hall was beautiful. No doubt it was a hi-profile club frequented by the elite class. Mr. Mittal made her meet his family that was waiting for them already. She knew them quite well and thanked her stars for knowing few people here; otherwise she would have been bored to death.
"Are we late" Mr. Mittal queried
"No, They're still not here. So we have little time" Mrs. Mittal answered his anxious husband.
In the meantime their daughter came to Khushi hugging her going ahead with the pleasantries. She was busy talking to Sapna when she heard her name and turned to Mr. Mittal who was talking to Mrs. Mittal smilingly. She took a good look around herself and wondered what the hell she's doing here in formal wear surrounded by beautiful people in expensive ethnic dresses.
She asked her boss if she can leave but was denied the permission and then she got the shock of the day. Mittal family is here to attend their friend's anniversary party and they've one more important task and that is to make Khushi meet a potential boy they've chosen for her.
Khushi was already upset that she is attending someone's party who she has never even met in her life. If that was not enough, Mr. Mittal rattled her more by letting her know that he has made a set-up for her to meet a guy, correction some wealthy guy for marriage purpose.
Khushi knew her boss has a knack for this match-making activity but she never imagined he'll do this to her and that too without even telling her. "Wow!! Now I'll have to meet some random guy without even my family knowing about all this set-up. Hell even I was unaware of it." She thought to herself. Her thoughts were interrupted with Sapna praising this stranger who is supposedly very handsome and rich. In fact Sapna would have married him if he was not younger to her and also if she was still single. But sigh! She was not only married but also a mother of two mischievous sons - Vikram and Nishant.
Wish Sapna was single. I would have been spared this torture!
Sapna pulled her along to another corner where there was a group of girls surrounding a guy in a golden sherwani. They all were busy teasing that guy and he was stealing glances at her.
Hey Devi Maiyya!! So he is this guy named ' whatever. He is wearing this sherwani as if today itself he's ready for the engagement. God! What will I do??
Sir should have told me at least about it, so that I won't be looking stupid in this suit. Wait! Am I seriously thinking to get married to him? Nooo.. But what will he think about me. I am the only odd one out here in these western formals. There is a thing called first impression. Even if we're meeting for the first and last time. Even the men here are in kurtas and sherwani. Yes everyone has come prepared except me and sir. But well he has done this purposely. I can't even say anything to him. I know he is a father figure almost Bauji's age but he should have bothered to ask me.
Khushi was busy ranting everything in her mind when suddenly she felt something and her eyes moved on her own accord to the steps of the double height hall. She saw a dashing man standing at the middle of the staircase in plain blue shirt and charcoal grey suit. She didn't need to confirm it. She somehow knew that he is the one she is supposed to meet today. She suddenly started feeling nervous when her hazel eyes locked with those chocolate browns. They kept staring at each other for few minutes oblivious to everyone else present around them.
A/N: Yup I had a dream like this. Boss, sherwani guy, thoughts and then ASR ' it was all there in my dream and obviously it was me instead of Khushi. Do leave your likes and comments.
