Chapter-9
Khushi was mindlessly munching on chanas staring at nothing in particular. This is how Payal found her sister lost in thoughts when she came to sleep in their bedroom.
Khushi jerked her head as two fingers snapped in front of her.
"What is it now Khushi? Who is daring to keep you away from your sleep?" Payal chuckled.
When Khushi narrowed her eyes in response Payal sobered up "Ok tell me now".
She narrated the whole incident to her stating how she asked Arnav about his girlfriend and when he didn't comply, how she tried to blackmail him which resulted in the evolution of angry Arnav Singh Raizada for her. Khushi omitted the fact that Arnav pushed her one arm behind her back knowing very well the protective side of her sister. She knew her decision to not tell Payal was right as she saw her sister stood in front of her with one hand on her open mouth in a state of complete shock. The happiness bubble of Khushi burst hearing words from Payal.
"You are crazy Khushi" she said in complete disbelief.
"Jiji tum bhi" Khushi huffed.
"What tum bhi? Buaji is right, you are totally Sankadevi. Just because he doesn't believe in marriage you concluded that he is heartbroken! And that too when he calmly told you that it's nothing like that? He must have his own reason."
Khushi for a little moment thought that it would have been better if she had told Payal about Arnav mishandling her, that way she would have got distracted and Khushi would have been spared. Now how on earth would she escape her?
But Khushi also knew whatever it may look like Payal's argument has a point.
"You may be right. I'll ask him about it" Khushi smiled.
"You are not going to ask him anything" Payal told her sternly.
She continued when she saw Khushi opening her mouth to say something "He is your boss not a friend that you can ask him about his personal life. Why are you so interested in his life by the way?"
This effectively stopped Khushi as she didn't have answer to this question.
That night when Khushi drifted in her sleep the last thought in her mind was question her Jiji asked her. Why are you so interested in his life?
Arnav noticed the next morning that Khushi was avoiding him purposely. She did talk to him when they were in the meeting an hour before but even then she had not looked straight in his eyes. This was so unlike Khushi. The thought of her being out of character of warm, lovely and talkative disturbed Arnav slightly.
Khushi was in her own world trying to find answers but failed. She just knew one thing that Payal was right. She concluded the good thing would be if she stays away from Arnav. Everyone in her circle knew that she has minimum control over her tongue but even that little control seems to slip where Arnav was concerned. She decided that the distance between them can guarantee some sanity in her. The moment they are near her mind steps in an overdrive state making her at a complete loss of senses and she won't like to embarrass herself once again. Khushi accepted to herself that Arnav affected her though she had no idea as to why it was so.
Khushi was in the cafeteria having tea with Lavanya when a cheerful voice hit her ears.
"Having tea without me?"
Khushi and Lavanya turned in their seats. There stood a tall, fair and handsome man in front of them wearing a faded jeans and sporting a red jacket over a white t-shirt.
"Hey NK when did you come back?" beamed La as she did a hi-five with him.
Khushi took in the conversation and gathered they both are friends. Before she feels uncomfortable she saw NK turned towards her.
"Who is this zarurat ladki?"
Khushi scrunched her brows in confusion.
"Zarurat nahi Khoobsurat NK" La interrupted laughing.
NK held his one ear apologizing.
"This is Khushi, my childhood friend and this is NK. He heads marketing team"
"Khushi you mean your childhood friend, right?" NK asked as La nodded in agreement.
"It's good to finally meet you Khushiji. I've heard a lot about you from La."
Khushi could just manage a "Hi" in response still surprised. She kept listening to his chatter and learnt that he not only works here but also is a cousin of Arnav. He has been working in AR for last three years and was in London for last two weeks when she had joined. His great sense of humor made him more suitable for his job and added charm and flamboyance to his personality.
Within few minutes Khushi found herself laughing at his silly jokes and his broken Hindi. Due to being outside India for most part of his life before he joined AR his Hindi was a little messed up. The comfort level was instantaneous.
Lavanya left them as she got an important call. Khushi noticed NK glancing towards her and then shifting his focus back to Khushi.
"So how are you finding working in AR?" he questioned.
"It's good actually great. I'm doing things which I have always wanted to do" she smiled.
"And what about Nannav? Does he scare you too?"
"Nannav who?"
"Nannav means ASR"
Khushi's thoughts once again drifted to the person she had decided thinking against. She came out of her trance when NK told her that she doesn't need to be so scared.
"It's nothing like that. Arnavji has been nice to me"
"You are the first person who says Nannav and nice in the same line" He chuckled.
"Ask Lavanya, she will tell you the same."
"She says this now because she is working here for almost two years now. You should have asked this on her first day"
Next minutes passed smoothly as NK shared details of Lavanya's fresher days with her. He told him that after knowing and befriending NK for a week one evening she blasted ASR in front of him not knowing that they were cousins. After learning about their family connection she had told him "I am sorry for my earlier ranting but it doesn't change the fact that your cousin is rude and arrogant".
Khushi chuckled hearing that and knew only Lavanya is capable of doing such thing and could get away after that.
When NK conversationally told her that Khushi can consider him a friend now like La, she decided to ask him a question which was nagging her.
"You love her right" Now this was not exactly a question but a statement as NK sat muted in his chair for a minute before nodding slightly.
"But I don't think she thinks like that" he sighed.
"Have you asked her?"
NK bobbled his head in negative.
"You shall ask her before deciding on that. As far as I know her she likes you more than a friend. May be she is not sure but she is supposedly there. From the time we have met she talks maximum about you" flashing a toothy smile at him.
Arnav looked over from his cabin to find Khushi smiling at something NK was saying. Lavanya joined them soon and the trio was laughing without a worry in the world. Arnav felt a little satisfied watching Khushi smile but also felt a tug in his heart that he was not the one to make her smile. He mentally chided himself for such thoughts.
Khushi was going towards the design studio when she bumped into someone. As she moved her eyes to the face of the person apologizing at the same time she found Anjali in front of her.
Anjali dismissed her apology with a smile. "No need to be so formal Khushi"
Arnav joined them with another man beside him when they were chatting.
"This is my husband Shyam Jha and this is Khushi" Anjali introduced them.
"Khushi means the one sale sahab"
Before he could complete his sentence Khushi interrupted "Yes the one Arnavji said who's crazy". With that she walked away from there.
Anjali could sense some change in her behavior from the last time they met. She looked at Arnav to ask him about the matter but he excused himself and walked in the direction Khushi has just gone.
Shyam stood dumbfounded there thinking what has just happened. He was not going to say anything like that. Anjali has told him that Arnav has met Khushi for marriage but they both have denied and now that girl was working with him. Shyam might have been startled for a moment with the incident but he was smart enough to know that there is more to it than what meets the eye. He has seen Arnav flanked by many girls, some of them being top models but never ever in his span of knowing Arnav for three years has he seen him so engrossed in a woman. They may not have talked to each other but the undercurrents were visible to him. The way Arnav was intently glazing at her from the moment she came in their visible range spoke volume.
Khushi took refuge in the first deserted room she found which happened to be the store room. She had no idea why she behaved in such a childish manner but she knew it hurts. Beyond that she won't even like to analyze the logistics.
Arnav found her standing in the middle of the room slightly bent, her hands on the table in front of her with her back facing him.
"Khushi" She heard her name in soft husky voice. When she turned Khushi found him in front of her at two feet distance.
"I know you are right. I am crazy. What else could be the reason of my behavior otherwise? Last night also I behaved inappropriately. I have no right to question you about your personal life. It should not matter to me but strangely it does. I am such a fool" a tear trickled down from her eyes to cheek.
"Sshh Khushi. I am sorry. I hurt you last night. I am really sorry for manhandling you" Arnav tried to stop her crying.
But Khushi continued as if she had not heard him at all "I should have known my limits. We have nothing beyond professional courtesy. I am nobody to meddle with your life and tell you what to do. You have been so nice to me and I always prove myself as stupid. I try to control myself but it just doesn't happen. My words give away without even knowing"
Khushi continued her rant with tears flowing freely now assaulting Arnav. He was holding her face in her hands wiping her tears trying to calm her but nothing was working on her.
"Stop crying Khushi" he shouted jerking her but not leaving her face.
Words seized on her mouth but a lone tear rolled out from her right eye. He wiped her tear with the pad of his thumb.
"I am really sorry for manhandling you" he said earnestly looking in her eyes.
Arnav leaned forward and kissed her forehead. There was a change in the air as he moved down his face further. Khushi started breathing heavily feeling as if all the air has been sucked out from her lungs. She closed her eyes feeling his breath on her lips.
The moment their lips met she felt a shiver run down her spine. They felt as if they were electrocuted. The sensuous warm ones moved intimately over the luscious soft ones.
Khushi moved her hands from her side and made its way to his gel set hairs. She felt weak with the strange sensation which she was sure would melt her in his arms today.
She took one step back under the pressure and her knees most probably turning into jelly hitting the table behind her. This movement jerked them both out of their reverie.
They took few steps back as they returned to their senses. She looked at Arnav who had his eyes closed and one hand sweeping forcefully through his already disheveled hairs. He turned on his heels massaging his temple starting to move out of the store room when he heard her.
"Arnavji hamein aapse kuch baat karni hai"
"Par mujhe tumse koi baat nahi karni"
"Karni padegi" she said sternly
"Iss sab ka kya matlab hai?" she questioned.
"I said just leave me alone" he told her harshly and went out of there.
Khushi stood there rooted to the spot thinking about what has just happened. The earlier event was replaying in her mind when she found him in front of her again.
"I am sorry for the way I behaved. I should not have shouted at you. I should have thought before doing what I did few moments back but I am not sorry for kissing you. The truth is if given a chance I will repeat what I have just done".
Before Khushi could understand his words Arnav walked out once again leaving an unsettled Khushi behind him.

Arnav Singh Raizada is not letting Khushi sleep in peace too! Yes, yes, mera bhi yahi question hai...why is Khushi interested in Raizada's personal life?😆
NK and Lavnaya is a couple in the making! Hope NK confesses soon!
Good that NK is working in AR unlike the show!
Arnav notices everything about her! That how she wasn't her usual self around him, how she was cheerful and her smiling self with NK and La, how she was upset when she spoke to Shyam! And he wants the ever smiling and ever yapping Khushi back!
Okay! What just happened? They kissed, he walked away, she questioned him, he shouted at her and then came back to make himself clear! Uff! So much in one update! I enjoyed reading it nonetheless!
This kiss was a result of u being sleepy!? Ahan! 😉
