I know I am late. But I have posted this update when it got ready. I would have posted it in the morning if not for the electricity cut for the whole day. Not proof-read, so sorry for all the mistakes.

Chapter-6

Khushi sat on her chair scribbling designs for the Ethnic Indian theme of the fashion show. She was putting all her energy and focus on this design from morning but she felt something was still amiss. The choli was perfect but its skirt lacked the perfection she was aiming for. She sat there looking intently at the sheet in front of her randomly shaking a pencil in her hand when it struck her. The intricate design comprising of zari and motifs was pleasant with its border but it needed a thin plain border to achieve the flawless perfection. Khushi smiled as she completed her design which seemed perfect to her and suddenly got reminded of someone's words.

"Well Miss Gupta I really don't appreciate people who miss out on details. I consider such people as unfocused and they are quite a threat for my company's image"

It has been two days since that unfortunate incident happened. She had expected him to scold her but that never came. He had simply walked out of the cabin leaving her raising a hand in an attempt to stop him. She had wanted to follow him and she had actually taken a step further when she was stopped by Lavanya and Jeff. To her confusion they both looked relieved in complete contrast with her worried expressions.

Khushi had thought about it while lying on her bed at night after Payal had a good laughing time at her expense. She knew she had crossed the line by saying so much about him. She might not be in her senses and was controlled by a sense of upping him and his intimidating style but it is wrong to say such things about your client who is also her boss presently and that too directly to him. But was she alone to blame? She was fed incessantly by Ria about the CEO of AR Group. She had described him as if he was always on a mission to find faults with others and scream at them. She had pictured a man with beard and a permanent sneer accompanied by invisible horns as ASR, in short someone like a monster. She had not met monster in her real life but in movies bad men are well visualized as bad men. She had watched so many movies with bald or guy with moustache as villains. Now Arnavji was nowhere close to that description. She wondered how anyone can describe him as ruthless and short-tempered. He had been so well-behaved with her when they had met previously on two occasions. She would have laughed at Ria if she had known that it's Arnavji whom Ria was describing as ASR but now the joke was on her.

In office she was showered with mercy as everyone thought she had come out alive from a lion's den but at home there was no relief. Payal was still teasing her for last two nights and days enquiring about "Arnavji, no ASR".

Khushi jumped in her seat as two hands hugged her from behind. She turned to find her friend beaming at her.

"How is it going Chamkeeli?"

"I have made few designs, lets see what Jeff thinks about them" she said pointing towards her desk.

Lavanya leaned in the direction and picked out a paper having a anarkali designed on it.

"This is awesome. I love it. I'm sure Jeff and ASR would like it too"

"Has Arnavji come too?" she asked feeling nervous suddenly as last incident replayed in her mind.

"Obviously he is the one you're designing all these for. This fashion show is for AR Group. Anyways you haven't told me how you know him?" asked Lavanya.

"I met him in anniversary party of my previous boss" Khushi answered smiling weekly. Lavanya smiled in return telling her to reach conference room in half an hour for the meeting.

She felt guilty for lying to her friend but she also knew telling her truth meant adding member for her teasing and Payal alone was enough for that. Moreover there was no point telling her about the marriage set-up thing when they both were forced to meet each other and had mutually declined it. She could tell her in future about it if she feels the need. She better not take any risk at this time.

After consulting Jeff Khushi went to conference along with him and other members of the team. Meeting went smoothly with Arnav giving his inputs when required and asking important queries. The only thing that upset Khushi was his normal behavior. He was behaving like a professional with her as if they had just met, traces of acquaintances nowhere to be seen.

May be he doesn't want to let anyone know about it the way you had lied to Lavanya. It won't be a good scene if people get to know that an employee was considered as a prospective match for her boss. Or is he upset with me over the last meeting? Khushi wondered to herself.

She was back at her seat with other members leaving Jeff and Arnav to discuss other details regarding the show. She once again got busy in her work oblivious to the gaze that followed her until she has rested on her seat.

"ASR La has checked on the arrangements of the venue. You need not to worry about it" said Jeff.

"Yes ASR. Everything is in control. The background for the stage has been finalized as per your choice" added Lavanya.

"Jeff finalize models for the new added designs and get them into stitching. Are the previous one ready?" asked ASR as he continued working on his laptop.

"It will be done by tonight and earlier designs are ready too, just cross checking the fittings"

"Make sure everything is perfect. I don't want any kind of problems later" shooted Arnav looking at Jeff and Lavanya as they nodded at him.

As he came outside and saw everyone working hard for the upcoming show Arnav knew he has chosen a right team. He saw Khushi walking from one seat to another grabbing variety of fabrics in her hand.

"How is Miss Gupta doing?" he asked Jeff.

"Oh she is great. She is an asset to the team, very sincere and hardworking. I was skeptical when I had first appointed her due to her inexperience in working for fashion shows. But she has a lot of potential. The skirt that you liked a lot was designed by her" smiled Jeff.

Arnav nodded in response, his eyes still trained on the movements of Khushi. Her being a nice person was one thing but her talent was another. He would be damned if he ever let his personal equations get in way of professional growth. He has strived hard to gain top position in the fashion world.

Arnav was initially angry when he had heard her describing him in those words.

"I have joined today but have heard a lot about the young, arrogant and ruthless ASR. He is quite famous here among the staff for his short temper"

His jaw had hardened on the audacity of this girl who has barely met him two times and has made such an image of him. He had immediately left the cabin to let go off some of his anger. After few minutes of pacing he remembered her words "I have joined today but have heard a lot", it wasn't her it was his staff who has fetched such details in her little brain. He couldn't blame his staff too. He knew well how he portrayed himself in front of the whole world. He remembered his own succeeding words related to details and the way her face looked when truth had finally settled on her. It appeared as if she has seen a ghost with her pale face lacking its natural color, her saucer wide eyes and mouth opening and shutting with some incoherent words.

He was not angry on her after that but she didn't even bother to apologize. This rattled him. If she could behave as if nothing happened then so could he. He was not dying to talk to her. Really! Then who was the one tossing and turning in his bed for last two nights thinking about her, a voice peeped in his brain at that exact moment. He shook his head to clear such thoughts from his mind realizing he had left his phone in the conference room itself. Instructing Lavanya to get going to office he entered in the studio heading straight towards the conference room.

As he turned picking up his phone from the table he saw Khushi standing in front of him playing with her fingers as she tried to say something.

"Who.. I.. mean.. last time.." she tried but failed. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath moving her tongue over her suddenly dry lips shifting his focus from her eyes to her delectable lips.

Did I just say delectable?

Khushi opened her eyes and started speaking immediately before she gets nervous once again looking at him "I am sorry for the last time. I shouldn't have said that. Trust me I would have never said that if I had known you are ASR. I am not mad to tell this to my boss on his face" she closed her eyes slamming a palm on her forehead, "No I don't mean that I say such things behind your back. I am not that kind of person to gossip about others. I was just irritated and blurted out whatever I had heard about you. I realize my mistake and apologize for the same" she took another long breath. "Now I should go back to my work since I have apologized" saying this Khushi fled the scene before Arnav could reply.

Arnav looked at the now vacant space in front of him where she stood not more than few seconds before and then towards the door which has just closed.

"Unbelievable! She will make me crazy along with her if she continues like this" he muttered to himself as one side of his lips raised in a lopsided grin.

Though Arnav was angry on Khushi's comments, he didn't yell at her? Khushi already has the calming effect on him.

Arnav is all impressed with Khushi's talent as well the person that she is! Ab sirf express karne ki der hai!

Arnav is not acting really friendly with Khushi and that is not sitting well with Khushi...
