Few days later..
Sharon had returned from New York after Fashion Week. The show had been a huge success. Her designs were a huge hit. She was relieved. She was also excited because her's and Rey's birthday was the next day. But not excited like she had been 2 years back. But she knew that Swayam would come to meet them on her birthday. He will, won't he?
A lot of her friends birthdays were also on the same day as hers and Rey's. Sharon,Kria, Rey had been invited to one of their friend's party in the evening. She was getting ready to go to Rey and Kria's house when her phone rang. "Sharie! Happy b'day." Preetha said. "Hey. Thanks." Sharon said. "I'm coming over to your house today." Preetha said. "Um'actually I won't be at home today. I will be at Kria's the whole day." Sharon said. "Why are you going to Rey's and Kria's place when they should be coming to your house. It's your birthday!" Preetha said. Sharon had no interest in explaining but she had to do it anyway. "Because Rey is my brother and it's his birthday too. And I always go there. We hang out on our birthday every year.It's kinda like a ritual." Sharon said. "Oh okay I'll meet you later then." Preetha said. "Okay Bye." Sharon said, and hung up immediately. "Phew!" Sharon said, and went back to doing her work. People kept calling her to wish her. One call was from her Dad. "Hello princess. Happy birthday!" her dad said. "Thankyou Daddy! What are you surprising me with today?" Sharon asked. "Uhuh..Then what is the surprise? You'll know when we meet." Her dad said. "Please tell me that you ARE coming to Rey's house today. If you don't then I'll not talk to you." Sharon said. "Your Mom and I will come but we can stay only for an hour or something. Sorry honey. Have lots of work." Her dad said. "Fine. But promise me that you'll come home and stay with me the whole day tomorrow." Sharon said. "Okay princess I will." Her dad said. Sharon loved it when her dad still called her princess. "Wait your mom wants to wish you." "Hello Sharon. Happy birthday." Her mom said. "Thanks Mom." Sharon said. "So what are your plans for today?" her mom asked. "Nothing. Same old." Sharon said. "Listen I'll be bringing photos of guys for you. Think and tell me." Sharon's mom said. "Moomm!! Not today please!! I already told you. I don't have any intentions of marrying anyone else." Sharon said. She was getting very irritated with this. "What will people say? That the daughter is at home and the son got married before that and all ." her mom said. "Mom, first I don't give a damn to what people say about me alright. Second, this is AMERICA. No one even bothers whether the guy gets married first or the girl." Sharon said. "I don't want to listen to all that. I'm bringing the photos that's all." Her mom said. "Whatever. I gotta go bye!" Sharon said and hung up.
She left to Rey's and Kria's house. She reached late due to the traffic.She knocked on their door. Kria opened it. "Sharuuu!!!!! Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!" Kria said, pulling her inside and hugging her. "Thankyou Kria." Sharon said, hugging her back. "Where's Rey?" Sharon asked. "Rey!! Look who's come." Kria said. Rey came. "SHaronn!!" Rey said, and ran to her like a little kid. "Happy birthday little sister!" he said. "Happy birthday to you too, big brother!" Sharon said. Rey loved it when Sharon addressed him as her big brother even though he was older than her by just four minutes. And she secretly liked being called little sister. "Sorry I'm late. Got stuck in traffic." Sharon said. "No prob. Come in. So what cake do you want today? We had blueberry last year." Kria said. "Yea, we'll make something. Whatever you make is tasty." Sharon said. "Awww'I'll go search something in the receipe book." Kria said, and went. Meanwhile, Sharey's parents came. Sharon hugged her dad. Also her mom. They wished their children happy birthday and then they started talking. Sharon's mom handed her an envelop which had the photos. Sharon took it but didn't even look at it. She asked her dad for her surprise. Her dad said it hadn't come yet so she'll have to wait. After an hour, Sharey's parents left. It was just the three of them again. Kria decided to try walnut cake. Then Kria remembered something. She didn't want to do it but she had to.She took a small box which was lying on the table and handed it to Sharon. "Sharu! Um'he'.he'I mean'.Swa..Swayam told us to give this to you." Kria said. When Sharon heard Swayam's name, she looked up at Kria and took the box from her which was wrapped with pink giftpaper and had a small bow. Kria looked at Rey. "Do you mean to say that he'd come? When?" Sharon asked. "Um'he left before you came." Kria said. "Oh. I see." Sharon said, controlling herself from crying. She opened the gift. It was a beautiful silver bracelet with her name written on it and a few hearts on the side. She caressed the bracelet and then put it on her hand. "Shar.." Rey said, but Sharon shook her head.
"Sharon!! You don't even have time for me." Swayam said. "Swayu!What do you mean? I told you not to throw any party for me!" Sharon said. "But I wanted to make your birthday special! Come with me!" Swayam said, pulling her with him and going out from the house. "Where are we going?" Sharon asked. "You'll see." Swayam said. Swayam took her to a place and asked her to close her eyes. He went and switched on the lights. "Okay! Now open!" Swayam said. Sharon opened her eyes to be mesmerized by the sight in front of her. Swayam had decorated this small place with lights and all. He held out his hand, asking her to come with him. From somewhere, music started playing and they started dancing. After sometime, snow started falling on them. It was beautiful. Sharon had always loved the snow, and being with Swayam she loved it even more. "Oh no! I think we should go inside!" Swayam said. "Shh! Stay! Look at the beautiful sight. Everything in white!" Sharon said. "Nothing is more beautiful than you are." Swayam said, to which Sharon blushed. He placed his lips on hers and kissed her tenderly. "Happy birthday Sharon! I love you!" Swayam said. "I love you too Swayam!" Sharon said. "Thanks for making this birthday special." "Anything for you." Swayam said. After a while of talking, they got up. "I think we better go inside now. People might be wondering where the birthday girl is." Swayam said. "Okay!" Sharon said, and they went in to enjoy the party for the rest of the night.
"Sharr'he didn't want to leave. But he had to because he got a call from work." Kria said. "Yea , I'm fine. I don't mind." Sharon said. After a while, someone rung the door bell. Kria opened it. It was Preetha. "Heyy!!!" she said. "Hey. Come in!" Kria said. Preetha went inside. "Happy birthday Rey, Sharon!" she said. "Thanks." Sharey said. "How are you? It's been a long time since you came home!" Rey said. Kria rolled her eyes. "Yea, Didn't get the time." Preetha said. "Actually Rey! She's going to get married soon. So she's busy with that." Kria said. "Oh that's wonderful news! When is the engagement?" Rey asked. "Well, after 2 weeks. You all have to come." Preetha said. "Yea, we will definitely." Rey said. "Shar! What is your birthday dress?" preetha asked. "I'll wear it in the evening to Lily's birthday party." Sharon said. "Oh okay!" Preetha said. Sharon rested her head on the table. "What's wrong with you?" Preetha asked Sharon. "Nothing." Sharon said without looking up. "Hmm'" Preetha said, and before she could say anything else, her phone rang. "Oh!" Preetha said, a smile on her face. "Who's it?" Kria asked. "My soon to be fianc." Preetha said. "Ooo'.Take the call." Kria said. "Yea, excuse me for a minute." Preetha said, and went out to talk. "Shar! Get up!" Kria said. But Sharon didn't. Kria heard her sniffing. "Sharon! Are you alright?" Kria asked. "Sharuu!!" Kria looked at Rey. "She's crying." She said, but in a tone in which only Rey could hear. "What?" Rey asked, and went and sat next to Sharon. "Sharu!! Look at me!" Rey said but Sharon wouldn't. "Sharu please!" Rey said. Sharon got up and hugged Rey tightly. "Rey!! Does he even love me?" Sharon asked. Rey looked at Kria again. Kria had a worried expression on her face. "shh!! It's okay.." Rey said. "He didn't even want to see me'not even on my birthday'. He didn't feel like'.like'call'ing'me'to 'wish'.me" Sharon said, crying harder. Rey kept patting her back. "It's okay'Sh'.don't cry! Sharu! Don't cry on our birthday'.shh'everything is going to be fine! You want to see him, we'll go meet him'okay? Stop crying Sharuu!!" Rey said. "Nooo'i..don't'.want'to'see'him'He ..never'loved..me'if..he'had'he'would'have'come'to'see'.me'" Sharon said. "He will come'don't worry. He will." Rey said. Kria also came to her. "Sharu!! It's okay. Everything's gonna be fine. Don't cry. Please?" Kria said. Sharon just hugged Rey tighter. Preetha returned. "Hey what's wrong? Why is Sharon crying?" she asked. "Nothing..it's just." Kria said. "Hey Sharon! Why are you crying? Birthday girls shouldn't cry." Preetha said. "Preetha, it's nothing. Just leave her." Kria said. "But why'?" Preetha started. "PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE FOR SOMETHING PREETHA. I'm CRYING BECAUSE MY BOYFRIEND DIDN't COME SEE ME ON MY BIRTHDAY! OH SORRY! MY EX-BOYFRIEND." Sharon screamed. "Okay okay! You don't have to scream. And usually ex-boyfriends don't come to see their girlfriends after a breakup. And why didn't you tell me you had a boyfriend?" Preetha asked. "I was stupid to think that mine will. I didn't tell you because it wasn't necessary." Sharon said. She knew she was being very rude. "Take a chill pill. I'm going now. Meet you in the evening." Preetha said, and left. After a lot of consoling, Sharon stopped crying. But she was very hurt.
In the evening, all of them went to Lily's party. Lily was a good friend of Sharon when she was in college. Sharon was wearing a black, kinda-shimmery party dress. It looked pretty on her. She wore a long chain which had an S-pendant and hoops for earrings. Her hair was let in loose curls with a silver clip pinned to one side. She was also wearing the bracelet which Swayam had gifted her. Lily saw Rey,Kria and Sharon coming. She went to them and hugged Sharon. "Shari!! Happy birthday! Look at you!! Gorgeous." Lily said. "Lils! Happy birthday to you too. Oh I'm nothing when compared to you. You look like an angel from heaven." Sharon said. Sharon introduced Rey and Kria to Lily and they were talking. Preetha joined them too. Lily cut the cake. She made Sharon eat the first piece and then everyone else took one piece from the tasty cake. "Okay! Now time for some fun!" Lily said. "Hey guys!!Listen!!" Lily called out to everyone. Everyone in the party turned their attention towards her. "Now Sharon will sing for us! She is an amazing singer!" Lily said. "Lily! No! I'm not singing today!" Sharon said. "I don't want to listen to anything. You have to. Your original song, okay? Any song, happy, sad, anything!!" Lily said, and sent her to the middle. Lily also gave her the guitar. Sharon was nervous at first because she was singing for the first time in front of an audience. Very few people knew that she could sing. She started strumming her guitar and started singing a new song which she had written a few hours ago called "Long Distance." It was about Swayam . Lily was the only friend from her college who knew everything about Sharon and Swayam. "This is a song..that I wrote for someone really special. But I wrote it after'we..broke..up. If he's here I hope he still knows that I love him and will always do. So, if you're here, I hope your listening." Sharon said, before starting. Then she closed her eyes and started singing, just letting the emotions flow.

Somewhere in the party, someone was talking to a guy.When he heard the voice."That voice!" he said. "What happened Swayam?What are you thinking about?" the other guy asked. "Nothing'who is singing?" Swayam asked. "I don't know. Some friend of Lily's. But I must say she has an amazing voice. And that song. It has soo much pain and emotions in it. Like she still misses her guy so much or something." The other guy said. "Yea,Rick. I'll be right back." Swayam said, and proceeded towards the place where Sharon was singing but he couldn't see her because all the people had surrounded her. It was impossible to even move an inch forward. But he knew it was Sharon. He could recognize that voice anywhere.

Sharon had tears rolling on her cheeks by now. She tried so hard not to cry but she couldn't control.
But it makes a good story anyway

After she finished the song, she heard claps. Then she came into reality. She had gotten so lost in that song that she forgot that she was in front of an audience.
Swayam spotted Rey standing. He went to him. "Rey!" he said. "Swayam. Dude, that was Sharon singing by the way." Rey said. "I know. I can recognize her voice anywhere." Swayam said. "I think you should talk to her. She cried so much in the morning when she came to know that you had come and left without meeting her. She really loves you man. And it's hurting me to see my sister hurt. If it was someone else other than you, they would have been dead meat for hurting my sister like this." Rey said. "I love her too , Rey. I really do. But I don't have the strength to face her." Swayam said. "But'" Rey started, but before he could say anything more, someone called him and he had to go. Some of Swayam's friends pulled Swayam and started talking to him.
"That was amazing Sharie!" Lily said. "Yea, I din't know you were such an amazing singer." Kria said. "Haha, shut up I'm not." Sharon said. "Don't try to deny it. You are." Kria said. Sharon shook her head. She was hungry. She went and asked for orange juice as that was her favourite. She sat on the chair next to the counter with Kria and Lily next to her. People kept telling her about her singing.
Swayam was talking to his friend when he turned to one side. He saw Sharon sitting near the drinks counter. He kept looking at her till his friend snapped his fingers in front of Swayam's face. "What?" Swayam asked. "Where are you lost?" his friend asked. "Nowhere. What were you saying?" Swayam asked. His friend continued the story but Swayam was not listening. He was looking at Sharon. At how beautiful she looked. He wanted to run to her and hug her. He even walked two steps when his friends pulled him back.
