Next day, Anjali told them that Kamlaji was willing to meet them. Akash, Payal, Anjali, Arnav and Khushi were at the Blue Nile restaurant.
"Di, the jeweller called. He said the entire cost was XYZ amount..." Arnav said. Looking at Khushi's questioning gaze, he explained about the ring and money to her...
Anjali pursed her lips. "That is a 1000 less than what I gave him..."
"1000 was how much he had paid me to keep silent about this..." a new voice came.
All looked up, to see a stern-looking woman looking at them with hesitation. "Namaste. I am Kamla." the woman said.
Everyone exchanged glances. "Namaste. Please have a seat Kamlaji." Anjali said kindly.
Kamla sat down, looking at everyone, and finally her gaze rested on Arnav. She gulped in fear; Arnav Singh Raizada... She feared him greatly; though Shyam Manohar Jha was decietful and fearsome, she rather make enemies with Jha than Mr Raizada.
"So Kamlaji... You know what we want to know..." Arnav said, taking on a full-on ASR mode.
"Di, we will leave to Laxmi Nagar" Akash, said getting up. Payal got up as well, and both of them left as Anjali nodded once.
Kamla gulped and began with her story.
"I work in the court as a peon. My salary is very low. I was talking on the phone to my husband, and we were disucssing our financial troubles. Thats when Mr Jha came up to me. I am sure he must have heard our conversation. He told me that he would pay me a 1000 rupees if I could do a job for him. Initially, I was horrified. I could not believe he was cheating in his wife, and intended to steal money from her; but then I got news that my daughter was ill, and I needed money desperately for atleast meds. So I-I did what he asked. I don't know WHY he needed that money so desperately. He said that if I breathed a word about this to anybody, he said he would use his advocate-influence and see to it that he would make my life hell... But when I heard that Mr Raizada was involved, I..." she trailed off, knowing she had been understood.
Anjali pitied the woman. She touched her hand and said warmly, "Don't worry. My brother will make sure that nothing happens to you or your family..."
Arnav nodded and Khushi smiled assuringly, though feeling disgusted that Shyam had stolen money from Di.
"Thank you. I should get going now." Kamla said, getting up.
Anjali nodded smiling. Kamla left.
Arnav looked at Anjali. "Di, What next?"
Anjali looked at him seriously. "We meet the doctor who treated Shashiji..." {Just a reminder: Shyam confessed about having attempted killing Shashi when she was kidnapped... Khushi obviously told the SPYzadas... ;) }
-At Laxmi Nagar-
"Hai re Nandkisore! Damaadji? Aao aao!" Buaji welcomed Akash and Payal.
They took a seat, and explained the purpose of their visit. "Kaa! Shyam ne humri titaliya ke saath aisan kiya! Uko hum chhodengey naahi!" Then they explained their plan and everything. So THIS is was what Naniji was talking about the other...Uko batae ki naahi!!! She thought...
"Waisan tumka agar sabooth chahiyye na, toh padosi se baat karo haan...!"
Akash and Payal looked at each other, and an understanding passed between them. Thanking Buaji, they left GH. Making sure they had left, Buaji picked up the phone. "Hello? Devyaniji hai ka Nandkisore?!"
-At Hospital-
"I am sorry, but the doctor is unavailable today..." the receptionist apologised. Thanking her, Arnav walked to Anjali and Khushi and told them that the doctor was unavailable. They went back to RM
-Few Hours Later, at RM-
Dining Table-
An eerie silence prevailed over the table. Initially, only Manorama was chattering away, but quitened as she noticed the tense atmosphere. Naniji was lost in her thoughts. Shyam noticed the glumness and was quiet as well.
The last step...Arnav, Khushi, Akash, Payal and Anjali were in the same tense bubble. What next?!
Later, in ArShi room-
Khushi had a bath, and came out of the bathroom, towel-drying her hair. She filled vermillion in her partition, and put her mangalsutra. She let her fingers linger over it for sometime; it had a whole new meaning now...She smiled lightly.
She felt his hands snake around her waist, as he inhaled her scent. She closed her eyes in anticipation and he kissed her neck. And as suddenly as he had come, he was gone. Khushi looked around in surprise. Few seconds later she felt a tingling at her neck, and looked down, shocked at what she saw. Arnav was tying a necklace around her neck.
"Main janta hoon ki tumhe farq padta hai..." he whispered in her ear.
Khushi did not know what to say... The same necklace she had liked, and he had purchased it for Lavanya on purpose. She turned around and hugged him. He held her chin, and lifted her face to meet his gaze. "I am sorry again for hurting you Khushi." In response, she rose on her toes and kissed him softly on the lips, taking him by surprise. "Arnavji, please forget what happened. The fact that you love me, compensates for every pain I went through. Please stop trying to make amends, because you already have... And I did not forgive you because I never was angry with you in the first place. Hurt, yes. Angry, No. I always loved you. Please forget everything...Let us start anew. For me?" she said softly against his lips.
Arnav sighed in defeat, and was moved by the sincerity in her words. "After all this, I promise we will have a proper wedding Khushi..." he said.
Picking her up, he lay her on the bed. And with both their hands entwined in each others, they fell asleep.
