Maharashtrians ( marathi) people bring GAneshji's statue home every year for 3-10 days . do Pooja.Relatives get together.On the last day the idol is immersed water.

I don't know whether its done in other communities as wel. I thought it was exclusevely A Marathi custom & other people from Mumbai just follow it. I don't know how Walia's have it. They are Punjabi's. ( Ram kapoor doen't have it at his house but his in laws who are Marathi have it for years)

they r punjabs?!! i thought they wud be rajputs like the SIngh family from saat phere, since they all know each other..i thought they wud be from same caste and stuff...o well i'm confused, i don't even understand the whole caste system! 😕

i guess ganpati festival is celebrated by all Hindus irrespective of the caste but it is more the maharastrains who believe more in ganpati or to be more precise, ganpati is the fav God among the marathis,
