Part 6
Arnav watched Khushi run out of his office as he took the call. Oh well a Lion can't always make a kill. Now wasn't the right time anyway. His questions about his mysterious personal assistant needed answers first. Arnav's conversation with his business associate ended just as an email popped up from Aman.
Miss Gupta's personnel file had arrived.
He looked up. She was sitting with her head resting against the surface of her desk. She must think she's made a lucky escape. Relax for now Khushi Kumari Gupta, for now I'll just learn more about you.
He opened the email and quickly scanned through the file.
Basics...age... 24...place of birth...Lucknow...professional experience... not much...qualifications...Bachelor of Arts in Hindi Literature.
Arnav sat back. Bachelor of Arts in Hindi Literature. That was impressive. Why in heaven's name had he thought... NOOO! corrected the angel, you ASSUMED that she was a village idiot didn't you. Yes I did, he admitted to himself. She wasn't polished like the other girls he came across so he didn't even consider that she would be educated. 'Shame on you' yelled the angel, whilst the devil skittered sulkily into his corner.
The personnel file didn't tell him much. 'That's because you want PERSONAL information about her not personnel information' said the angel sagely.
URGGGHHH. Bugger off the pair of you!! I can't believe that I have two figments of my imagination acting smart with me, thought Arnav as he shook his head as if to shake them off his shoulders. Where had these two emerged from anyway?!
Arnav decided that he needed to call in the big guns now. He reached for his phone and dialed.
Meanwhile on the other side of the glass partition, Khushi desperately tried to calm her racing heart. Devi Maiya...help...or else it's going to pop out of my chest! Phew!!! that was a close escape. She took a really deep breath.. Chaal Khushi, worry about the Rakshas later. Right now you have business plan to write.
I want the information in less than 24 hours. Make it happen.
'No problem Mr Raizada, leave it with us. Whatever there is to know about this Khushi Kumari Gupta, we'll find and deliver to you ASAP'.
Crap. He was late for his meeting. Arnav grabbed his file, phone and laptop and raced out of the office. He'd have to deal with Ms Gupta after.
And there he goes like a tornado. Chaal Khushi, breathe now. He'll be away for a while. Time to get your skates on and get down to work.
Eight hours later, Khushi sat back and smiled. All done.
Arnav arched his back as he stepped out of his SUV that night. It had been a long, tough day spent trying to troubleshoot a problem with a client in another time zone. As a result, he hadn't had a chance to go back to AR Corp and deal with a certain Ms Gupta. Don't worry, she'll be there in the morning, sniggered the little devil.
Arnav showered and had his dinner. He settled into his bed and flicked open his laptop screen and logged into his email client which linked all his mail services, including the newest one.
His eyebrows arose in surprise.
A business plan. From Khushi Kumari Gupta.
He started reading.
Half an hour later, he sat back. If he thought he had been surprised enough by Khushi that morning, then this was the icing on the surprise cake.
She had actually managed to pull it off. And quite well at that. The business plan for the Jalebi Junction was well written, strategic and strong. It needed some editing and strengthening in some places, but overall, for her first attempt, it was outstanding. She had a really good idea and with the right investment and management it had the potential to be a success.
For the first time that day, Arnav conceded and said it. Wow.
The angel began the jig of joy on his shoulder. The devil sulked. Arnav smiled.
Just as he was about to shut down, a ping signaled an incoming email.
He looked.
It was from the private investigator. Arnav knew there was no way he could sleep unless he read it first.
He hit 'open'.
So... what did you think? Part 7 is all ready to go, but I'll like to hear your thoughts first.
