Movie Reviews : Kalakalappu @ Masala Cafe

UTV and Avni Max's joint production venture Kalakalappu @ Masala Cafe received a positive response from the celebrities. A special premiere show was screened in Chennai yesterday for the celebrities and their families and all those who have seen the film enjoyed a lot appreciated the movie.

A movie that is based on two brothers and how to save the cafe. The movie starts with a flashback telling the history of the restaurant "Masala Cafe". The story then moves onto the current generation where it's maintained by "Vimal", Oviya and her grandfather.

The restaurant doesn't have the popularity as in the past and Vimal tries a lot to improve the restaurant but each and every time due to his bad luck it results in failure and increases the money which he borrows and finds difficulty in returning that. As this issue still continues Vimal sees Anjali who comes to kumbakonam by transfer and gets a different welcome by Vimal and he falls in love with Anjali. Anjali then issues a notice to develop Vimal's restaurant within 2 months of duration and their meetings happens often. Where is our other hero? Shiva gets an unexpected intro and adds extra ingredients with Oviya.

The second half is focused on retrieving the diamonds while introducing our comedy king "Santhanam". During the election period Santhanam becomes friend with Vimal, what happens when they become friends? Fun all the way! The climax keeps you guessing who gets the diamond and what happens after that with few twists.

Overall, Masala Cafe is a pure entertainment which can be watched with family!

# Sundar.C has shaped well all the artists and matched them with their characters and to the story.
# Music was really good and matched with scenes
# Visuals of the songs could be improved and making the speed of the movie bit slower would have added more perfection.
# Oviya and Anjali were more glamorous and could have avoided that since there is no need of those.
# Comedy was superb and made the whole audience laugh. Santhanam was the rockstar.

Kalakalappu @ Masala Cafe is a comedy entertainement which is been directed by Sundar. C and it is also his 25th film. Masala cafe stars Vimal, Shiva, Santhanam, Anjali and Oviya in the lead roles.

Ithu idayula vimal oda thambi Shiva varuvaru anga Shiva oviya va pathathum kadhal panna start panniduvaru rendu perukum roamce malarum. Apo Vimal enna summa va iruparu avar ennoru track ottuvaru anjali ah love pannitu irupaaru. Apparam palaya kalathu sapadu item lam recipe kettu Shiva and Vimal panni masala cafe hotel ah form ku konduvaruvanga. Apparam ennoru track odum Subbu Panchu oda team oda diamonds miss ayidum athu yaar kitta irukku athu climax la theriyum. Ithuku naduvula Santhanam kum anjalu kum kalayanam fix ayidum atha stop panna vimal plan poduvaru. Rest of the story is Is Vimal and Anjali love succeded and Shiva and Oviya love succed? What happened to their hotel masala cafe? Who finally got the diamonds is the rest of the story.


Vimal - HIs track was very boring for the first 15 mintes after thaan etho paruvayillama pochu.. He done a ok job.

Shiva - He is the scene stealer avar varura scene ku lam siruchuttu irukalam nalla coemdy pannaru avar dialogue semaya irunthuchu..


Anjali and Oviya - Just use as a glamour piece only songs la romba glamourous ah nadichanga athuku heroine illama padam ah vechu irunthukalam..


Santhanam - Avara pathi enna sollurathu avar varura scene sirikalam vaai vittu asusual...

Ilaarasu - Chinna role thaan panni irunthu paaru but sema...



Direction/ Screenplay - Sundar c has directed this film he comes to direction after long time. Avaroda typipical style la eduthutaru comedy ellam chinna pullai comedy mathri vechu irukaaru. Neraya double meaning comedy vera varuthu atha avoid panni irunthukalam. Screenplay la oru power illai ella scene um doubt ah pakka vendiyatha irukku ithu nalla iruka illaya nu. Koncham little drag pannuraru padam. Logic illai seri ana ella scene um predict pannura mathri vecha epdi pidikum.. Songs la thevai illama ethuku glamour ah use pannaru athuku songs vechu iruka vei thevai illai.. Comedy nalla irukku but nammakai doubt varuthu ithuku sirikalama vendama nu. Climax nalla panninga compare to the whole film padathula oru power vechu irukanom apo thaan every type of audience will be like it. Sundar c did a below average only.. Masala cafe is typical sundar c type of film ithu vanthu ullathai alitha, winner atha mathri kitta thata.. Just time pass film


Music - Songs ah ithu romba mokkai ah songs ah pottu irukeenga sir Kanden la super ah song ah pottutu intha padathula ipdi mokkai ah pottuteengalai..


Kalakalappu will be come in average attempt we can watch it just for the comedy. But romba logic pakkura mathri iruntha just avoid it as every type of audience won't like this film. Just 2.5 hours nimathi ah relax ah pakkanom nu nenaicha go for it. Shiva and santhanam are the huge plus for the film avanga comedy nammala sirika vekkuthu especially Shiva he rock all the way. Glamour could have been avoided and the songs picturization is very poor as no one want to see the songs as the song is very dull.Comedy nalla irukku athukaga pakkalam one time ana athu kooda mindless comedy koncham yosicha sirika vendam nu thaan thonum. First half bore second half blade last 30 minutes super.. If you are cinema lovers please avoid masala cafe as u won't like this film. Sundar c could have concentrate more on the screenplay and make the audience engage the film throughout. Finally Masala Cafe sumar padam thaan.


Verdict : Typical Sundar C type of film just time pass film !! Sumar Movie thaan comedy nalla irukku meethi onnum seri illai !!
