Excerpts from an interview: Tell us something about Corporate. If you're striving to watch something different than this is a film for you. A general woman is showed in a very different light in the film. The film is about today's women who views life larger than her marriage and children and looks forward to education, values and the urge to do something. They are in top position today on the strength of their beliefs and talent. Likewise it's the same about men. This is one of those progressive films of India. Woman shouldn't be considered less, as she is smart, educated, and intelligent, so there shouldn't be hesitation considering her ambitious. What is your character Nishigandha Dasgupta all about? When I was rendering this character I felt as if it was real me, but only a little more mature. She is a boss, with a name and fame and people look up to her talent and respect her for the position she is in. But back home she is an ordinary girl, a homemaker and a cook and she balances everything perfectly. She values her family and work at the same time. Hers is one of the strongest characters of the film.
I believe that people can look glamorous in whatever outfit. It's not always that skin show can make you look stunning. Anything that makes you look attractive is glamorous. You've to have the right attitude to carry it. I was acquainted about the role from the very beginning. I knew how a corporate woman should be, how she had to act and behave. Madhur has already done a lot of research for the film. How do you feel bagging the role? This role was initially offered to Ashwairya Rai. I feel lucky that I'm doing it now and any other actress in my place would have felt the same. Even though I wouldn't have been a part of this film I would have loved to watch it, I'm sure. How was it working with Madhur Bhandarkar? He is one director who inspires you. His sensibility towards women and their mindset is very vast and his sense of topical filmmaking attracts me. He presents woman's character so beautifully and that is complimenting. All his films are in the same module. I had already watched Chandni Bar and Page 3 and I loved his sense of showing women realistically.
It's a must see for working women and girls who aspire to be something in life. The film throws light into the aspect how ambitious women in India are always misunderstood and are considered as bitch. That's very sad. Every people who have similar thoughts should come forward and watch this film. What are the other films you're doing right at this moment? After this my next release will be Vishal Bhradwaj's film 'Omkara'. There I'm playing the character of Billo an adaptation of Bianca from Othello. It's a very crucial character. Following that Dhoom II will come up next and Abbas Mastan's untitled movie. |
