FF: Rules of Attraction ~ Part 1
Khushi played around with the ring on her ring finger that did not fit her very well. Due to its unfitting size, it was easier for her to toss it around while she herself was deep in thinking. So much has happened since the last time I saw him'" thought Khushi sliding her back on the couch placed in Raizada Mansion. She slightly developed a half smile when she recalled about her first visit to RM, she had sat on this silky couch, I almost sank into this couch thought Khushi and then shook her head to get it all out of her mind. She went back to playing with her ring when 'his' voice from the backside made her jerk up. "Having second thoughts about that ring?" came the calm yet furious question. Khushi instantly stood up and turned around slowly praying he would disappear and she would not have to face his face or rather his eyes that made her weak.
He stood there with one hand in his pocket while other hanging down clenching on to his cell phone. Khushi finally faced Arnav who was standing opposite to her with a couch in between them, there was some kind of pain in his eyes that she could spot but not quite understand due to her own nervousness at the moment that was not letting her think. Why am I nervous? He is no one to me..he should not be affecting me in any way, was Khushi's thoughts while her mouth opened to say "Uhh..actually Arnavji, Nani wanted me to come visit her.. it's been awhile soo.." she was interrupted by his harsh reply "I didn't ask you to justify..I asked you about that ring" in low, dangerous tone. Khushi realized she had avoided this topic! "The ring" was defiantly not her discussion topic, not at this moment. But she was too stubborn to admit it so she loosened her shoulders a bit "huh? Whaa..oh the ring! Right! No I was just admiring it" she said in her trying-to-be-calm tone. His hands clenched his phone tighter, yeah right admire my foot! Were his raging thoughts that could break the phone in his hands right away.
She slowly walked away from the couch towards the stairs praying he would not stop her but of course that never happens. She was almost near the stairs when she saw him smirk from the corner of her eyes "your ring does not even fit you Khushi and you admire it?" was the mocking question he asked her. Furious at the remark she turned around in a swift "my ring is none of your business Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada so stay out of it" she spat out and before he could shout back she ran up to Nani's room. His smirk vanished off in less than five seconds and stared at her back which was moving away from him. He closed his eyes and tried to suppress the pain that was over powering him. He wanted to be angry, shout at her how she dared to think that I have no business in her life! He thought opening the raged filled eyes and walked up to give her a piece of his mind.
Khushi paused in front of Nani's room panting heavy breaths not able to find reasons for her sudden outburst. He was right, this ring does not fit me.. she thought looking down at her finger. She suddenly dropped her hand when she felt someone tap on her shoulder. Her mind or rather heart was not ready for another heated argument "I don't want to talk to you" she said in a flat tone and was about to go inside when she heard a soft voice call her back "Khushiji'". Khushi recognized the voice and quickly turned around saying "Diii" . Anjali stood there with tears filled in her eyes on seeing her sister in law and with a huge smile she hugged Khushi in a tight grip making her fall back a little. Khushi hugged her back with equal warmth forgetting everything that happened in the past. Khushi and Anjali were still in the hugging position when Khushi opened her tearful eyes and was shocked to find Arnav standing near the stairs with a slight smile on his face, the innocent smile that she had missed seeing. She was about to smile at him back when Anjali broke the hug making her come out of her little day dream. She saw Arnav disappear into his room which got her a bit disappointed. Her disappointment was soon gone when she felt Anjali's fingers on her face, making her glance back at Anjali. "How are you Khushi? And why didn't you tell me you were coming?" asked Anjali in a concerned yet exciting voice. "I wanted to tell you but Nani said it would be a good surprise" replied Khushi genuinely. Anjali pulled on her wrist "well then come meet Nani" she said.

Arnav dashed into his room and pulled off his tie roughly not wanting to remember the ring in her finger. He wanted to break down every single furniture in his room. Pacing around he thought back to the moment she had hugged Anjali, the familiar warmth he had seen in both their eyes. She still loves my family.. he thought feeling softness filling in for her which was soon converted into anger "if she cared then she would not have left" he screamed at himself.

Khushi sat next to Nani on the bed with Anjali opposite to her. Nani's tears would not stop rolling down. Khushi wiped it with her dupatta and hugged her making it easy for her to speak. "Khushi betiya..I'm glad you came. I mean after what we all did to you" she said with regretful eyes. Khushi cupped her face and smiled "no nani please don't..you all have already apologized so many times". Nani held her hand in hers and asked her casually "leave this..tell me how is Armaan? When is he returning to delhi?". The question was suppose to be a casual question about her fianc but it made her a bit uncomfortable and even more guilty as she saw Anjali's smile face away. "Ummm Armaan is fine Nani, he will be returning tomorrow morning" answered Khushi like she was answering in an interview. Nani smiled at that and Anjali gave her an awkward smile too. They spent few more minutes in casual talks when Khushi saw Armaan's number flashing on her screen and excused herself out of the room. She stood near the stairs and looked around to see if she was alone and finally answered her call
"Hello?" in a casual tone
"Sorry sorry I know I should have called earlier but was caught up in a meeting" he apologized.
"It's ok Armaan..I understand" she replied understandingly.
"No no look when I come back tomorrow, I'll make it up to you ok?" he said with a playful tone.
"Alright then we will see" said Khushi in an equally playful tone and hung up.
His voice somehow always cheered her up and amde her smile. And as she turned around to go back to Nani, her smile made a run out when she saw Arnav standing two steps away from her staring angrily into her eyes.
