I have seen many tv serials, There were very few women characters who were actually close to real women.. I mean in almost 98% tv shows lead women characters are like doormat and sacrificing people or rather Devi kind of character ...But to some extent Maryada has been able to break the rule..

In this show one woman is ready to take her relationship with Jijaji ...Though she may be wrong in her decision , but Uttara thought about her physical pleasure as well as emotional dependence ...I mean when was the last time we saw lead woman character going through this tough emotional disturbance for her illegitimate relationship .

There is another woman who was betrayed by society and her husband, even knowing that her husband is a homosexual she decided to keep the relation mostly in the name of Maryada ..It is one of the truth of many household..But it was also shown beautifully how Vidya wanted a physical relationship with Gaurav .
Devyani is an another example, there are many household where teh women keep silence to show the world that the family is happy. Where as she is burning in pain everyday...So many issues so many relatable characters ...I feel this is one of the shows which somehow managed to show us real people or real pain ..than glitters , glamour and saas bahu kitchen politics.

What i liked most is makers never made this characters Devi like..Uttara , Priya , Devyani , Vidya somehow they are also responsible for their fate ..

What do u all feel? Do u find real women in these characters? Do u find the helpless mother in Roshnidevi ? Did u feel that this is your story? ,...Write here

Devyani is no different. She kept silence, and still she keeps silence. Most of what she does say is because of Priya's insistence, and most of Priya's words are ignored but some words get through after some effort by Priya.

As for Uttara. Ehh. I guess it is different. Even still in the end she allowed herself to be manipulated by a disgusting character as Brahma.

I've been reading up on older serials, and it seems a decade or so ago the serials were much more willing to be 'controversial' than now. And in this case from what I read, it's not even in the way of Uttara being lied to and tricked by Brahma.

I honestly don't know. I did a search and found this. But it can be viewed only from India. If you are in India, or can get around with proxy servers, I'm guessing you should be able to watch.

This show could happen in reality, crooked cop, gay son, affair in the marriage with a close one. The only difference is that It may not happen in one household in reality!

Vidya's devyani's and uttara's role is very very very realistic.
Priya being molested, false allegations is seen very commonly everywhere but being a DIL of ur molester and not telling the family for months is not true at all.
I think self respect/esteem is more important to any girl than 15 days of lustful love.🤔

Interesting topic Pia.
Out of all the four women, i feel Devyanis is the most realistic. There are many women who will tolerate anything for the sake of their children and family. Whether its abuse from the husband or the in laws. But then thats the older generation
As reddhaute says, all this does happen but not all of it happens in the same household.

Like FIZK6, even I feel Devyani's character is the most realistic in comparison to the other three. Her nature and the varied reasons why she has kept quiet all these years is something all of us can relate to. Irrespective of age, I can see a lot of Devyanis in real life who choose to keep quiet and bear all sorts of insults either for their children's sake or for their family's sake.

In the August 10th episode, Devyani makes a mention that there was one other reason why she chose to keep the truth of Brahamanand from Uttara. She had said that since Uttara was better than her at everything, ranging from the smallest to the biggest; she was getting one chance to show to her sister that she is also good at something, i.e, being able to maintain her marriage very well. This I can see is a result of a complex she had with regard to Uttara's superior abilities in comparison to her own. I can also see that this is somewhere due to the Eldest Child Syndrome. These are things people of all ages can relate to. Being much younger than the character of Devyani, I myself can relate to this aspect of her nature and character.

Being an older child myself, I can see reflections of my own self in certain aspects of Devyani. I can very much relate to her low self-confidence, low self esteem, etc. I can also relate to her nature of keeping many things to herself and burning from within due to the pain of not being able to disclose anything to her family. I too have gone through such situations where I have forgone my own wishes for the sake of my family, albeit for various other smaller and big reasons. So, I feel age is not at all a barrier to relate to Devyani's character.

The next most realistic character I feel is that of Uttara.

So, all I can say is Devyani is definitely the most realistic character although the others are also very realistic.
PS: This is just my opinion. I do not intend to offend anybody nor would I like to enforce this view of mine on anybody else. This is purely a product of my own thinking.
