Part 29
A quiver ran down her spine as she dressed for the party. He had been summoned to the hospital for a short hour and had promised to return home to be able to leave in time for the party. She knew that his dedication shall always come first and she did not mind it at all. She felt a pride in that and gently tucked her saree pleats at her slim waist and surveyed her handiwork in the mirror... What met her eyes brought a soft smile of pride in the eyes... which flashed back, shining with an untold excitement... a light which spoke a lot... she saw the flushed pink face which looked beautiful... The delicate bone structure now slowly filling out yet appearing like delicate china... clear complexion.. she had applied very little make-up just a slight moisturizer and a dab of soft pink on her lips to match the shimmering silvery shell pink saree... The creamy shoulders exposed as the little revealing halter necked matching blouse neatly enveloped her skin... daringly exposing a part of her back. She had deliberately chosen this ensemble as there was a fire burning in those dark black embers... Her second track whispered furiously... 'Ahaa... fire.. playing with fire... I know it why.. ha ha ha ha ha... oooh fire is hot... naughty woman... burn.. burn...' she bit her lip but smiled at her reflection and winked and taking a deep breath leaned forward to wear the jewellery which was again a gift from him... a beautiful diamond and coral set... The coral carved to show a beautiful rose surrounded by tiny diamonds... the ear-rings matched as did the bracelets... She took in a deep breath and then stilled as the tiny hairs at her nape rose in warning alerting her of his presence...
He stood there at the door of the en suite.. his shirt unbuttoned halfway as he had stopped in his tracks upon seeing her... his fingers stilling in their feat... she turned and saw him her breath crashing out as her pulses raced... she could see how beautiful she appeared in his eyes... as they surveyed her handiwork and then as if an automation prodded him, he moved towards her... She turned back to face the mirror and he stopped behind her as he held her gaze in the mirror and glanced into her very soul... His eyes slowly following his way down her forehead... her eyes... the proud lilt of her nose, the soft curves of her lips.. the swell of her blushing cheeks, her slim throat where he wanted to trail his own lips... and below... as he felt her breathing quickening, his fingers rose as his eyes to hold her shy gaze with his own blazing chocolates... she gasped at the feel of her fingers at her back... as he gently tied the bow of the blouse... his fingers lingering there leaving behind a fiery trail in their wake... as his other hand joined its twin to slide up each arm to her shoulders... and with his eyes, which never once left her gaze, drinking her beauty, he spoke huskily... "You planning to kill me tonight Jingles?"
She softly gasped at the burning feel of his touch, his proximity... and then her heart stopped as his head dipped slowly into the soft curve of her neck as his lips found their mark... Her eyes closed as the million little flighty things in her belly rose at the same time.. her feet turning to a floating mass and rubble of jelly... as she leaned into him... a thrill passing through like an electric shock... After so long... she felt the same tickling in her belly, the familiar flames leaped high burning through her very core... as she moaned feeling the silk of his lips at her neck... the scrape of his evening stubble against her jaw as his lips tasted and savoured, his nose inhaling her sweet familiar fragrance of which he had been deprived for so long... his fingers rising from one shoulder to gently move the heavy silk curtain to traverse the silky expanse of her exposed back... to pay homage to the other side of her neck as she was lost in the myriad of tumultuous emotions that gripped her...
"Jingles!!!! Are you alright? You appear flushed to me..." The voice brought her back to reality, like the sharp cracking of the mirror... as she jerked to see him standing in the doorway and busy looking into the reports in his hand as he momentarily had murmured that she looked beautiful in her saree... He had taken off his shirt and had placed the file of reports in the closet as he murmured checking in the mirror standing behind her... "You are ready... give me a few minutes okay.. and I will be there..." She took in a deep breath as she nodded feeling like a deflated balloon at his easy nonchalance, irked within by his casualness... yet a firm decision made within... 'Okay Doc... show your non chalance... watch out doc... ' and she smiled as she replied... "Yes I am okay.. just need your help with these blasted doris. I simply can't seem to reach them..." He stilled at the casual sound of her voice as inside he tried to contain a raging storm... 'Gawd.. she looked so beautiful enough to devour her..' It took every ounce of will and control for him to not give in to his desire which was to gather her into his arms and kiss her senseless... and now this.. her request... he swallowed hard and turned form the closet and nodded showing complete detachment and taking a deep breath smiled a teasing smile to try to cover up his unease and took the errant doris in his hands and tied them with surprising finesse... "There Madam... you are ready... now give me half an hour... okay?" He turned but not before he had seen the sharp glimmer swimming in her eyes. he felt like a world class heel for doing this to her... but he was helpless as he did not trust his own control... which were already on a tightened leash of strong restrict... It was going to be a big gruelling long night for him...
She bit her lip hard to stop the tears from spilling out suddenly not looking forward to this night out... yet she felt within that she must not stop trying.. Avni aunty's words ringing in her head... 'Men are dense Khanak... they think that science is everything.. but little do they know that there is something above this rational world in which they feel comfortable in... something more powerful and divine... So don;t stop trying... never say die... my girl...' A deep breath and the furious blinking of her eyes did the trick as she moved away from the mirror with another resolve strengthening her step...
He shut the en suite door to lean against it weakly at first taking deep breaths...as he closed his eyes only to groan softly realising it to be his undoing as her face wafted up in his mind's eye and he saw her beautiful enticing form... Breathing in and out he resolutely moved to take his usual cold shower... He raked his hair as he towelled himself dry and surveyed his face in the mirror. He was about to swish the razor through the foam on his jaw when the door opened and he stilled, his hand with the razor midair as she entered and then showed him his cell as she mouthed "Ravibhaiya" He grimaced as if saying to her... hello I am shaving... and she chided him as she spoke into the phone.. "Bhaiyaa anything urgent.. he is in the washroom... shall I ask him to call you back?" and after a long pause she murmured.. "Oh sure.. we can do that... no issues... alright see you in 30 minutes? Bye.." She turned to him and said appearing not as cool as she sounded as here he was standing there looking like a Greek God... she was in a dilemma... if she looked up, the broad expanse of his chest disturbed her and if she looked down... her face flamed at the train of her thoughts and she cleared her throat and supplied as he swished and swashed his razor "Ravi's bhaiyya needs a ride till Chaand's Ma's house... we have to pick him up. His car broke down..." He nodded as he splashed water to wash his face and she turned to leave but let out a sharp cry as his hand snaked out and as he pulled her to his chest...
"Doc!!!" He rakishly smiled and spoke throatily, eyeing the soft pink tongue moistening the soft lips... "Mrs. Jingles Khandelwal... did anyone not warn you that it is positively criminal for anyone to look so beautifully ravishing!!?" For a moment she was thrown off guard in surprise but recovering soon she grabbed the edges of the towel around his neck and pulling his head closer she murmured at his lips, an innocent impish glimmer shining in her eyes... "Nooo... would you.. care to enlighten me Doc?" And not in the least bit giving him any time she kissed him fully as he groaned and finished what she had started...

The warm glow of pleasure stayed on her face all through the evening. Many of her old acquaintances and friends chatted with her, glad to see her back safe and sound.. careful not to mention of their loss... but wishing them health and cheer. Manu had been ecstatic at their sight as he with his eyes thanked him at her side and welcomed them... he knew that she was putting on a brave front at the moment but she felt a little tired and he did not want her to overdo anything. He once caught her holding her temples and had rushed to her as he held her arm enquiring in a little worried voice.. "Hey.. Jingles.. you okay?" she had nodded though not convincingly enough and had hung on to his arm from then on... He had been clueless to her impish smile which she had hidden, feeling the bubble of mirth rising to the fore which she suppressed... thinking in her mind... 'Yes Avni aunty, Men!! They are indeed dense!!!' She blushed then as she remembered how he had kissed her back in the en suite earlier... and she had groaned softly her needs to him with her eyes.. and he had almost given to her pleas... but suddenly he had held back his will power quite strong... but he had kept her in his arms as he had hoarsely whispered... touching his forehead to hers... "Not yet.. my love... not yet.. A little bit of patience... hmmm " she had felt deflated but had nodded as he then kissed her hard one last time and had released her to go and dress to kill... This time in a crisp dark steel grey blazer and matching trousers with a soft pearl white coloured silk shirt... she sighed as she hung on to his arm.. and he led her to the tables where she rested for a bit...

After dinner which he had made sure she ate well, he took her out in the garden for a short stroll... linking his hands in hers they tread lazily in the rose garden on the huge grounds at The Club... she walked in peace at his side and every now and then threw him covert looks... knowing somewhere in her heart that it was as difficult for him as it was for her... She knew that had been complications in her case... Dr. Raichand had spelled it out to her clearly... yet Avni aunty's words rang in her head.. sometimes men she knew and believed too.. made mountains out of mole hills... Taking a deep breath she sighed it out and his hands tightened in hers as he asked softly... "Tired? We can go back.. if you wish..." She had shaken her head and murmured... "I feel like dancing.. " they had taken a whole circle and returned back to the hall and she had heard the DJ announce 'Come on all you oldies..time to shake old leg of yours...
He did not show his turmoil and then felt her tug his arm as she moved to the dance floor and someone had already dimmed the harsh lights as a soft tune started to play and she gazed at him as he sighed and taking he into the circle of his arms began to dance... She was glad to lean her weight on him.. feeling him control the movements... just happy to be where she loved to be... in the warmth.. basking in the love that she felt through him... and he felt her relax and smiled at her temples.. and murmured... "You seem content Jingles..." She snuggled closer to him and murmured.. "I am Doc... very ..." His heart raced faster signalling him that he was treading on dangerous grounds, but then suddenly he loosened, throwing all caution to the winds... knowing that he had been nudged to do so by her beauty and the couple of neat shots that he had downed... He closed his eyes and leaned down to bury his nose in her hair as she in surprise faltered in her step but he managed to steer her as they swayed together slowly to the song that played...

He knew that later.. he would repent this loosening... but just now he was happy that she was with him... nothing else mattered anymore...
