Chapter 49 – Pyaar aur Sharartein

Nisha – "Are bhai ab jaan legi kya…hai kya dikha na"

Geet gingerly took out a jewellery box with simple yet beautifully elegant ruby and diamond set. It had a matching necklace, earring and a maang tika. Beneath it was a red chiffon saree with golden work on the border and pallu. (Like the saree Pari gave to Geet in GHSP)

Juhi gasped – "Wow….this is beautiful…Maan mujhe to pata hi nahin tha ki mere bete ki pasand itn sundar hai"

Naintara was jealous like hell seeing the saree and especially the jewellery. She made a face and looked at her mom.

Chayiji grimaced – "Are yeh sab…ek Kheer ke liye kuch zayda nahin ho gaya"

Maan did not like their expression at all but today he did not have eyes for anyone else. He looked straight at Geet who stood frozen. She was overwhelmed with everything and tears threatened to fall from her eyes. Maan spoke softly but firmly – "Nahin yeh zayda nahin hai…as a matter of fact it is nothing. This gift is not only for Sunday's dinner but for everyday…every moment which OUR Geet spends thinking about us…her family. From Dad's dreams to Rahul's love…from Annie's exams to Pari's shopping….from office to home….from bade pa's medicines to my dinner….we may forget…but she never does…we just dream….she makes them a reality…this is not a thank you…it can't be…it is just a similar token as to all the love she showers on all of us"

Raj got up and hugged Geet from side. "So true Maan…we just forget to appreciate our darling's efforts she puts in to make all of us happy"

Rishab wiped away tears from her eyes and hugged her "Meri pyari beti ke liye yeh kuch bhi nahin"

Geet looked at Maan with wet eyes and was shaken by love she saw in his eyes. As everybody crushed her in a hug, she just smiled and conveyed her love back thru her eyes.

Juhi decided to make the emotional moment a little lighter. "Waise Maan seriously yeh sab dekh ke to I am convinced that you are ready for marriage now"

She winked at Annie who got the message clearly. "Yes bhai…I agree with mom…ab to aap bhabhi ko ghar le hi aao"

Maan smacked her on her head "Shut up Annie…dinner laga mujhe bhuk lag rahi hai"

Annie put a plate for Maan but now there was no stopping to the favorite topic of Maan's marriage. Nisha chipped in "Kya shut up….Annie is right Maan…it is high time you get married"

Maan started having dinner and fielding their questions at the same time. "Badi Ma …please yaar aap logon ki problem kya hai…kam se kam chain se dinner to karne do"

After he finished his dinner Maan laid his head in Juhi lap and rested. But Annie was no where letting the teasing go.

Annie – "Kya Bhai…aap na bahut kharab ho…bahut selfish ho…bhabhi ko share nahin karma cahte na mere saath isiliye shaadi nahin kar rahe ho….jab tak aap shaadi karoge mera number aa jayega"

Maan – "God Annie….wow…so you are worried about your marriage or mine….and I am selfish? Mujhe nahin karni shaadi waadi"

Saying this Maan turned on his stomach and closed his eyes as if he was sleeping. Annie pouted and made a baby face looking at Geet. Geet was unaware of the reasons behind everybody's teasing and happily decided to help Annie. She winked at her and took her to kitchen. Sometime later they both came out giggling. Everybody looked at them in shock as Geet lightly pulled Maan's shirt away from back and Annie threw some ice cubes down Maan's back.

Maan was totally caught unaware – "Aaggghhh…Annie aaj tu nahin bachegi"

Maan yanked out his shirt from the waist to make ice cubes fall. His shirt was all wet and Naintara drooled over his muscles as they flexed with his actions.

Maan picked the jug of water and ran after Annie.

Annie – "Nahin bhai…please maine kuch nahin kiya it was Geet Di's idea"

Maan stopped in his track and looked at Geet mischievously.

Geet – "What!!!...Annie you are such a wimp".She looked at Maan – "Aise kya dekh rahe ho…haan who to maine aapko uthane ke liye kiya tha…hain na…who sab ko aapki shaadi ki baat jo karni thi"

She fluttered her eyes and took the jar from his hands "Maanji aap shaadi kyon nahin kar lete"

Maan smiled and answered in the similar tone "ab aap itna keh rahi ho Geetji to kar leta hoon"

Everybody's heart stopped at Maan's answer. He was dead against marriage and this was the first time he said something like this even if in a joke. Juhi – "Sach Maan"

But Maan's entire attention was on Geet and he missed reaction of the family. He put his hand on her shoulder "Kyon Geetji…aap mere liye ladki kyon nahin dhoond deti hai…aap ko to meri pasand pata hai na…aap mere liye ladki dhoond dijiye phir main shaadi kar loonga"

Saying this, he gently took the jar back from her and dumped the whole water on her head even before she realized what happened.

Maan burst out laughing as Geet was drenched completely. She blushed profusely at Maan's words and at his acts. Everyone just assumed she was red with anger. Raj decided to intervene before a world war starts – "Geet….beta koi na…tu jaake change karle…jaa". He practically pushed Geet towards the stairs. Everybody sighed in relief when Geet did not say anything and just moved to her room. Maan was still smiling and Geet was plain simple shy to meet his gaze.

Night 10:30 PM

Everyone had retired for the night. Maan had pinned Geet near the kitchen wall as she had come down to get a glass of water.

Geet – "Kya kar rahe ho Maan…koi aa jayega"

Maan nuzzled her nose on her neck – "Shhh…sab so gaye hain…tum na bahut bolti ho"

Geet – "Kya…acha"

Before she could complete her sentence, Maan captured her lips and gave her a burning kiss. Her hands were feeling her entire back.

The suspense is too much.. I don't want Maan to know that he is getting engaged to NT in the engagement ceremony.. I want them to fight this problem out rather than try to delay the matter..
