Written Update Nov 19, 2010, Episode 5

The aunt cries saying that in one blow everyone died in the house, and the killers are living happily, what type of justice is this. Gulaal consoles her and asks her to trust God, he will definitely see justice, Talsagra has ruined their lives, they will never see greenery (prosperity) on their land, hearing this Vasant looks shocked and worried since Gulaal's words have come true.

Poonam serves Gulaal's father, he tells her that he has asked Guruji (the priest) to come visit, she should ask him about Gulaal. She tells him that Lakha has gone to the aunt's house with Gulaal, he tells her that Lakha is a stranger and they should not give him so much importance, she tells him that she knows Lakha is not like that. He tells her that Gulaal and Yogesh should not spend so much time with him.

Vasant is pondering about the situation about Talsagra vs. Rashipur and wonders what is God's will, he has been brought to the same threshold where Kanchan died. He tells himself not to get lost in emotions and forget his mission, he has to find Neerja no matter what. Gulaal scares him and he yells Kesar, she laughs, he walks away. She follows him and asks who Kesar is, he likes her so much that he mumbled about her, he says I like her so much that he made her his brother, she asks brother, he says that Kesar is his younger brother and naughty like Gulaal, he scares him exactly like this. Vasant flashbacks to young Kesar and misses him. Gulaal and Vasant tease each other some more, and he runs away.

Vasant is at home, Poonam asks where he was, he says he went to find someone. She says he will find that someone, he should not feel so sad, he should trust God. He says that is the only thing he has for his mission, he feels so happy seeing the prosperity and greenery in this village, but in his village there is everything but no water, rivers have filled with gutter, clouds have escaped like convicts, there was just one hope, raamjaliya, but he also left them, there was one final hope about Neerja, only she can save them. When he turns around he sees that Poonam left and he feels silly.

Gulaal calls him downstairs since Guruji has come. Poonam asks Guruji to see Lakha's palm. Vasant apologizes since he doesn't believe in lines on the palm but on one's deeds. Gulaal's father looks at him sternly as if he offended Guruji and tells him that Guruji is a renowned person, he has prayed his entire life, how can he decline without knowing his powers. Vasant says that he is not declining, if they make future so big they will start feeling weak. Guruji says that when humans don't have experience they have disbelief, and asks Vasant if he will show him his palm. Vasant agrees. I think Vasant declined only because he doesn't want to be found out, else he had no reason to refuse so much.

Vasant extends his palm, Gulaal's father looks at him clearly not liking his presence or trusting him. Guruji asks him his birth date, and tells him that his name should start with a different letter (associated with a different astrology sign), not with L (Lakha). Vasant looks guilty. He asks if Vasant is a farmer, Gulaal says he is a bangle-seller, Guruji says but his lines say something else, Yogesh tells him that he is also a drum-player that is why his hands are so stern, Guruji says stern hands do not wipe out lines, Vasant says Guruji knows so much can he tell him if his mission will be fulfilled. Guruji tells him that it will be fulfilled soon, he should pour a glass of water on Shiv God every morning and pray.

Gulaal's father then shows Guruji Gulaal's astrology report. Guruji sends Gulaal to the temple to pray, she leaves but not before scaring Vasant and giggling. I LOVE Gulaal so lively, she was so full of fun and life, and she looks and feels so young and pretty. She has aged a lot and lost all of her charm, fun, and innocence. The amazing thing is that Kesar loves this Gulaal and the Gulaal he sees now, all brooding and unhappy, he has seen and loved all sides of her.

Guruji tells her parents that Gulaal has two relationships written in her life, the first one is under shadows but the other is safe. This girl is very special and strong and will always win in her life, Poonam worries and asks if there is any solution for the two relationships. He says that they will pray the next day with Gulaal's own hands, and takes his leave. I wish I had a Guruji like this who could tell my future, but clearly the prayer didn't work since Gulaal's fate still turned out this way. Why don't her parents call Guruji again to find out what will happen next? Poonam is worried and crying, Vasant tells her that she herself told him to trust God, and asks her to trust God to make everything right. She tells Vasant not to tell Gulaal.

Vasant sees Gulaal praying in the temple and feels smitten with her, she delicately fills oil lamps to light them, she sees him watching and says the Goddess is that side (not at Gulaal), he looks embarrassed and prays. She asks him what did Guruji say, he says that he said the girl is crazy but good at heart, she is naughty but one in a million, she is pretty. She laughs and says she is not talking about him but Guruji, what did Guruji say. The director sure knows how to make men look at Gulaal, the heart literally feels a thrill and breathlessness just seeing that immense look of love, first Vasant with love, then Dushyant with lust, now Kesar with love. Vasant says that Guruji said that only, why is she thinking of these things, what matters is the present not future. She insists, he tells her that Guruji says she will always win in life, she says that is it, she knows that already, he asks what else does she know, she says that it is time for her to leave for the fair and asks him to collect his things and not leave without her else she will not leave him for 7 lives. He leaves.

Vasant sells bangles at the fair, its the last day of the fair. He asks some girls if they know someone by the name Neerja, they giggle. Gulaal searches for him in the house and asks Poonam where he is, she says he left for the fair. Gulaal gets mad and goes to the fair. The girls giggle at Vasant and ask him why is he looking for Neerja, he says he needs to give her anklets, one of the girls (Gulaal's friend) asks him to give it to her thinking of her as Neerja. The girls tell him that Neerja is not of their village, must be another village. Gulaal comes there and asks why he left without her, he says what if the girls would search for him, a bangle-seller has to think of everyone. Gulaal asks him to accompany her to the merry-go-around, he says that today is the last day of the fair and he needs to sell all the bangles, she should go alone. She says fine annoyed and leaves.

She goes to the roller-coaster and sits on the ride. Suddenly the place she is sitting in starts breaking, she yells and drops when Vasant runs and catches her saving her life. This scene was sooo fake, typical Hindi movie, but I think the CV's wanted to get it over with quickly. Both look at each other, Vasant with love, Gulaal feeling grateful. Vasant flashbacks to all his moments with her, clearly thrown off by the mere though of almost losing her, hence his running desperately to catch and save her.
