KESAR A WITNESS TO KITCHEN POLITICS

Kesar, out of habit, stepped in to defend Gulaal's honor. He did not like HIS Gulaal getting blamed for his actions. Kesar was powerless when Gulaal herself asked him not to interfere between her and Sudha Babhi that they can decide and settle it between them.

KESAR AND GULAAL

Kesar impatiently waited for an opportunity to speak his mind and get Gulaal's misunderstanding cleared. That is how Kesar is. He can't hold the feelings for long especially when it is do with Gulaal. Kesar repeated he loved her and his intentions were not dishonest. Kesar was helpless that he is being misunderstood when Gulaal said she understands him and his intentions. When Gulaal declared that in her hearts she would never accept him as her husband, Kesar was hurt. Tears rolled down immediately and painfully (for the misunderstanding), regretfully (for her lack of trust) and unwillingly (dreading the separation from her) he agrees to stay away from her and try his best not to meet her face to face. Did that stop Gulaal midway to actually listen to what he said just then? Do we see hope that given her time and space she would trust his intentions. Did Talli really understand his struggle and trauma?

Actually I notice that Gulaal since her entry to this house has definitely made a distinction between her life as Vasant's widow and Kesar's wife. Today she mentioned as being alone even in Vasant's absence then and in Kesar's presence today. So she does see herself in the past tense while speaking about her life in Vasant's absence. And she faces the reality that today whether she admits or not, she is Kesar's wife.

GULAAL/PANNBA

Did Pannba help her or scare her.

KESAR/GULAAL

Gulaal got all conscious hearing the footsteps as though she waited for the inevitable: Kesar's entry into their room. Kesar was again feeling guilty and sad when he sees Gulaal sitting in his room. He leaves the room with his pillow. (Kesar with Boriya Bistar headed to the terrace). The scene was shot beautifully in moonlight. Kesar and the terrace effect have a very different feel. We can sense his loneliness and despair as he looked around, threw the pillow and sadly cuddled up giving the impression of a giant prawn. I still doubt Gulaal if she is trying to still hook up Kesar and Talli by making her attend to Kesar's simple needs. But Kesar is smart to check on Gulaal at the window seeing Talli bring him the blanket. I think he did feel a sense of relief at her magnanimous gesture that Gulaal did care for him after all.

Talli looked all saintly with her advice to Gulaal, or when she did not stay for a while longer after giving him the blanket and also advicing Kesar next day morning.

KESAR AND TALLI

Loved to see Kesar's reluctance to walk in to his own room. Staying true to his word, he was cautious that he does not end up in front of Gulaal. That was obvious when he asked her whereabouts to Talli and told her that he would join for breakfast after Gulaal is done with hers. His staemment 'Chaahta tha!!" confused Talli for a minute but he quickly assured her "Chaahta hoon!!!".

We could see the desperation in him saying "Kya kiya hai? I did not have any option left" to prove at least to Talli that he did not have any other wrong or bad intention in bringing her back home. He was honest with her to discuss that HIS WIFE doubts his intentions. Very strange their relation is. He is talking to his friend about his wife doubting him.

When Talli mentioned that Gulaal also would have her own choice even if she is someone's wife, daughter or DIL, he realized that he did not think of Gulaal's choice in this matter. Kesar can't think of a time when he would have to lose Gulaal forever. So when Talli asked him that, he was in a matter of seconds, reduced to tears. I seriously wish he finds a good friend in Talli. He basically is lost among the crowd. He does need someone who can mean good and wish well for him.

Love every time Gulaal and Kesar are on screen together. loved everythiing about their conversation, tears, sadness, bitterness, caring for each other...love it . *big sigh*

Had trouble with PaanBaa again. Here was her opportunity to give woman-to-woman advice...mother to DIL advice but she fails Gulaal. And Kesar again. She brings up her doubts about the kitchen politics as apposed giving Gulaal advice on how to accept Kesar as her husband. Since Gulaal has come back into the house as Kesar's wife she needs to really think about what is right and wrong or fair towards Kesar. He deserves a proper wife and a future with kids etc... Paanbaa could bring up those concerns.

But she doesn't do that! I understand she is from a different generation where you don't share your feeling but I feel the writers are really missing an opportunity to add an extra layer to depth and width to this show. They could have Paanbaa talk about her experience, how she accepted Motabha as her husband. Not sure if Vasant was her first husband's son. The difficulties she faced. There is so much to explore. I would really like to see Paanbaa take more of an active role in the family instead of the passive one she does!

I love the actress and think she would do wonders to some challenging dialogues!

Thanks Shelly. That is why I felt if it really helped her or scared her more. I agree she could not discuss with Kesar but today she could explain to Gulaal. She could have explained to her how she had adjusted to her life with Motaba when she remarried him. Actually when the other day JamnaKaki just stopped short of mentioning about the family history of Deeyarvatu when Kesar came into the living room, plus the age difference between Vasant and Kesar has always made me think if Vasant was her son through her first marriage.

Lovely analysis, MeySimi!

LOLL@ Kesar curling up like a giant prawn to sleep on the terrace...aww😆

I agree that scene was really nicely shot...they've shot a lot of his scenes in that blue lighting recently and they come out quite well.

Re: Kesar-Talli's friendship...and the fact that he told her about how Gulaal is misunderstanding him...I think it was understandable...Kesar has no one to turn to really...but many times it has only been Talli that he has really tried to confide to about the turmoil he is feeling regarding Gulaal cuz fact remains that he does view her as his best friend...someone he does trust in a sense and hopes for understanding and comfort.

And this time Talli did say the right thing to make him think...Gulaal's feelings do need to be taken into consideration or he may push her away forever...and THAT got Kesar's notice as always.

As for Paanbaa...I think if they wanted to, they could use her a very powerful plot device to move the story forward...but instead they've basically made her a spectator sort of character...she doesn't get involved...only muses and acts as a sounding board for the characters from time to time without providing any solutions.

I still think Paanbha will at one point give her views and talk to Gulaal one on one in the future as a woman and woman who has gone through a deeyarvatu and so on, as most you are hoping on what she talks about her so on, right now - her saying anything of such wont make that much of a difference until the time we and she sees that Gulaal is moving forward in a way i guess
Overall its good what and however Paanbha is with Gulaal, coz none of the other women are there for Gulaal not even her own mother lol
I agree with the blue lighting shots, they come out so well, some of the terrace scenes do that...
Little care and gesture for Kesar is big enough isnt it

I agree. I understand Paanbha not talking of her own experience and talking about accepting Kesar. The last thing Gulaal needs is someone telling her to accept him or start trying to accept him, when she's not ready to do that.

Paanbha knows Gulaal's not ready for that and still doesn't even want to think accepting someone other than Vasant.

Yeah, he looked like one. Actually pura paka hua

The cinematographer has done the film Sawariya too apart from Devdas and Black.

Last time she hit him asking why she should remain his friend just to understand him. Bit I guess, their last confrontation he told her he is even willing to marry her because he does not want to lose her friendship. I think since she is convinced he can never love her, otherwise why would he back out in the last phere of the wedding, she has begun to understand his worries and pain. Hopefully.

And this time Talli did say the right thing to make him think...Gulaal's feelings do need to be taken into consideration or he may push her away forever...and THAT got Kesar's notice as always.
he was too freaked out about not having her beside him that he has not thought of anything else. Talli saying that if her wish and will is not accounted for, he may lose her forever has set him thinking. I genuinely wish they keep Talli on a positive plane. When Dushyant has turned a new leaf under Gulaal's influence, i just hope Gulaal's upbringing can never bring about a negativity in Talli's character. Sudha is a different story altogether. I think if Talli explains at a later stage that her antics in hurting Gulaal is hurting her instead, she will at one point come around

She seems to be too lost for words at any point of time but I did see her a bit fierce and strong in her words when she told Gulaal to stop deciding Kesar's future. I guess she knows Gulaal wont answer her back.

Thanks Lennie and Likarsh,
I feel she did know about the way Gulaal has taken this decision suddenly and hence alerted her. She told her that by accepting to stay with him as his wife, she would have to, at one point consider the relationship on actual terms. Obviously a woman and man are not going to stay in the room as friends when offcially they are husband and wife. Pannba also has not understood Kesar. But she is practical. She just alerted her of the long term repercussions just like how she did when Gulaal decided on Deeyarvatu with Kesar. Way back then, Gulaal did what she felt was right, being the need of the hour and she is facing the consequences now. Same goes now, she has done what she felt was the right thing to do.
But an added dialogue stating her POV that for her too, it had been hard to accept her relationship with Motaba but eventually she accepted the reality and is happily married to him with three children would have added a personal touch of care and concern coming from a woman who has experienced tis herself.

Good point Lennie and Likarsh,

However, I don't mean that she goes full fledged on the first conversation. She needs to start referring to her own experiences and show some empathy as she is the only one with experience and can show empathy. I would like see PaaBaa become more active instead of being so passive. She doesn't say anything unless someone (insert JK) crosses way off the line. Which JK does all the time and Sudha is starting to as well.

From the small hints they have shown..Motabha and Paanbaa seem to have a healthy relationship and as a viewer I am very curious as to how they reached that point considering their history.
