Victory
The soaring tensions and the piling runs
Echoing in the rooms were massive groans
The fall of wickets in quick succession
It felt like a sad, tragic procession
Some people had bitten their nails to the quick
And some of us were actually feeling sick
The temperature rose, it felt like fever
And others started feeling their bodies shiver
My heart was trying to beat its way out of my chest
In pretty much the same state were all the rest
A few of us gave up watching the game
It was to avoid bad luck, yeah it sounds lame
A selected few were forbidden the freedom to move
Quite a few of us sat stuck to the chair as if by glue
I never before realized I was superstitious
If some had told me, I would have said that's fictitious
But there I sat in my Hilfiger socks and jammies
The same exact outfit I wore for the semis
While a sweet friend of mine held my hand
I was praying for a favorable outcome in the end
To cheer up my buddies and me who were feeling down
I posted song, upon song from the ipod I own
We were literally scared to even watch
Fearing the Sri-Lankan will get a catch
The insurmountable score which seemed so high
At times feeling it would be easier to without wings fly
The Indians stuck to their guns, played their hearts out
And with a sixer the stadium echoed with victory shout
All if us here heaved a massive sigh of relief
And believe me when I say still looked on in disbelief
The day, the moment we have all been waiting for
This accomplishment will always be a part of the lore
I will also remember this day forever as long as I live
When all seems lost the comfort a friend can give
I will cherish this day I shared with you all
The day the team scaled an order tall
When I was impressed by sports men's conduct
The moment I almost felt a leak in my tear duct
It was a day phenomenal in every single way
Where determination, grit, courage held the sway
I salute you , the team, the nation and sports fans all over
May God in his kindness every blessing on you shower
