I wont say I didnt like Dil se, but it somehow never connected with me. There were bits I loved and a few bits I didnt. The performance were excellent- It was a career-best performance by Manisha. I loved her in that scene just after the Jiya Jale song when she starts slowly realising that she too longs for love and a regular life, that was so beautiful. SRK was very good but I still think Kabhi Haan, Kabhi Naa is his best performance to date.

The movie had everything going for it, strong performances, soulful music, exquisite conematography, but somehow it just didnt come together and click for me. I felt something was missing, soimething I cant point out.

I had last seen the movie a few years ago, perhaps I should watch it now, I may enjoy it or could find the reason why it didnt click for me.

I remember seeing it when I was younger and I remmber thinking it was "meh". Maybe I'll like it better if I watched it again now. Though Ae Ajnabi has to be one of my favourite songs EVER.

The movie BOMBED at the BO..it was more like a washout. No one really wanted to see what's happening in Kashmir nor how their people suffered and becomes terrorist. I loved the movie, i thought everyone acted so well. Srk Manisha scenes were so beautiful especially when she tells why and how she becomes a terrorist. And Srk tell her to forget what happened and start a new life. I read Mani Ratnam edited out MANY MANY important scenes because sensor wouldn't let release.

Er...as far as I remember, the movie was not about Kashmir...I think it was about the eastern side of the country...Assam etc..

And about the movie....I didn't like the irresponsible manner in which he gets himself killed..putting his entire family into the risk of getting harassed for life....The ending did make SRK look like a love sick puppy who can't think of anything else other than his lover...

But for the ending, the movie is a classic by itself...Great performances, brilliant screenplay, soul stirring music, stunning locales...what else you want...*DD*...I enjoyed it through and through....and still have the songs on my ipod...

I don't rememeber much of it, watched it when I was 13 I think. But I remember really liking the ending and Manisha's performance. I liked the fact that both of them died. And the songs were awesome. I always used to be confused between chaiyya chaiyya and chamma chamma....it was the rage back then. I'm gonna watch it again one of these days with my adult brain. Lets see how I feel this time around.

To answer your question, it probably flopped because of no glamor quotient. People liked SRK in candyfloss romance back then (heck still do 🤪) so the movie suffered. And besides who wants to see a movie in theatre when the main protagonist is a female and a villian??🥱

It was a beautifully shot movie. The songs - both lyrics and the music were excellent. I loved Preity's character in the movie. She played it very well. But I just couldnt connect with it - maybe I need to watch it again. I just couldnt understand why SRK's character is so strongly in love with Manisha. But he landscapes made me want to take a trip to Ladakh asap. Everytime SRK wanted to be different he got burnt no wonder he sticks to romantic roles

I heart SRK's perfomance in Dil se:L..though i m not a fan of his character sketch..But he was awesomeeeee especially in the second half..Definitely his best after CDI,Swades..Manisha Koirala was great as well..her character was so complex and manish nailed the angst, frustration almost all mannerisms and emotions of her character..She is really underrated as an actress..Preity was nice too ,she impressed me as a newcomer
Beautiful picturisation and fab fab songs..aah Rahman's golden melodies..I still have all those songs on my ipod..Ae Ajnabi is one haunting number, each time I feel like crying when i hear it..Cheiyya cheiyya,tu hi tu still gives me goosebumps..Script had some looppholes..Never got why SRK's character had such intense passionate feelings for Manisha's character that he even risked his family's security for that?.. but adore the climax scene<3..
I guess it would have been a hit if released now..Those time bolly movies were ONLY about candyfloss (though i love them lol) feel good story lines..Deffo a movie in which SRK dies wouldnt have been a hit haha
