Chaiyya Chaiyya..... What a rage it was those days....
Dil Se... IMO was not SRK's best performance.. I would any day rate Swades the best followed by CDI..
Dil Se ... Yeah .... I did like the movie....Very intense... and SRK and Manisha did a good job...
Coming to why it did not click.... People liked to watch SRK in the Loverboy roles...romancing the heroines in chiffon sarees and in the Swiss Alps...
Dil Se released right after Dil to pagal Hai and Pardes which clicked at the BO and those were the roles people wanted to see him in...
And I think there was just a 1-2 month gap betwen the release of Dil Se and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai....So when Dil Se released the KKHH songs were already chartbusters and people looked forward to KKHH and did not care abt this one...

Dil se was a spellbounding flick dude.. it was just too good!! Mani Ratnam and Santosh Sivan.. i am a HUGE fan of Santosh sivan's cinematography.. i loved his movie Asoka.. NO ONE I mean no one captures the beauty of Indian landscapes like Santosh sivan.. the guy is a genius.. Dil se captured Ladakh's beauty sooo sooo well.. it was just mesmerazing.. then Gulazaar's lyrics chaiya chiaya..satrangi re.. dil se re.. Manisha koirala.. god.. what an actress.. she was so mystical..Srk was damn raw in the movie.. i can go on and on.. the flick rocked!! Despite its flop status.. the movie has its place in the history.. so who cares if it tanked..

I love Chaiya Chaiya so much (despite it being an old song now). ❤️

Yeah, that definitely could be one factor...nonetheless, SRK was better in DIl Se than in KKHH imo.

Dil se in my opinion was def one of his best performances, if not the best.

Dil Se is one of my favorite movies and I had tears watching this song. Shahrukh was good and Manisha was so real. Preity too played her Malayali character really well.

I care...😆

lol,
yes, I love that song satrangi re too..ok, this may sound dumb, but that song gives me goosebumps. 😕 It's so good...especially when Sonu Nigam sings mujhe maut ki goud mein sonay de, teri rooh main jism daboney de, satrangi re...manrangi re....definitely, one of Sonu's best songs.

That song captures ladakh in the most beautiful way.. right from the opening shot.. i love Manisha's outfits in that song.. and Srk looks cute too.. I have heard that while it used to take years to shoot movies back in those days.. they shot dil se in like 2-3 months.. and it was a quick shoot where they were travelling from parts of india.. from north like ladakh to south in jiya jaley song..

I really loved Dil Se but it sucks that it bombed so badly. I think people had a set mindset of what they wanted to see SRK in--loverboy roles like DDLJ, DTPH, KKHH, etc and Dil Se was very different from that. The songs are simply mindblowing! Manisha was very good..I also thought Preity was good for her first movie.

I agree his voice give a "ruhani" effect to those lines which indeed gives goosebumps... and also I loved Farah Khan's choreography it was way ahead of its time 😊
