Is Abhishek Bachchan's Career Over?

In a career spanning a decade, Abhishek has starred in close to 50 films (Source : Wikipedia) which includes, Solo films, multi-starrers and about a dozen or so special appearances / extended cameo's also!

Out of which, roughly 40 plus films were commerical flops! And in the remaning 10 or so films which had a decent run at the box-office, almost half of them were multi-starrers!
Abhishek has had just one solo hit so far. Bunty aur Babli! Out of 50 films in a period of 10 years, just one film that achieved commerical success!
Bad record by any standard!!! (I am not sure about Guru...was it a hit? Or was it average? Even if it was a hit, two out of fifty still remains a bad score!)
Unfortunately, despite being a decent film, KHJJK also seems to be a commerical disaster, the second one for Abhishek this year, followed by Raavan!
Abhishek has proved to be a good actor many times, but his potential as a star in his own right has always been a big, huge question mark.
So my topic of debate is, has Abhishek Bachchan's career come to an end?
Or more interestingly, did he ever have a career in the first place?
Or was it just Paa's second name that carried him this far?
Would any other actor in his place (especially an outsider) have got so many oppourtunities to prove himself the way Abhishek got?
In time, will Abhishek be remembered as a good actor, a flop actor, a middle-rung star or be forgotton completely, having made close to nil impact on bollywood during his era? Or remembered just for being Amitabh Bachchan's son and Aishwarya Rai's husband?

No. With every hit every star get's to the top. With every flop, the star career slows down, it doesn't mean it's over. He just needs to choose better script. Films he know will do well in the boxoffice like Dhoom 3 and Dostana 2, and Race 2. These will put him back on the map.

The answer to that is a big, fat NO. No outsider would EVER have gotten more than 2 movies with Abhi's luck at the BO, let alone 50 chances to prove himself.
I feel really bad for AB Jr. He's the only Bachchan I like, but sadly he's never quite been able to get out of AB's shadow and after marriage, Ash's shadow..
In answer to your question about whether his career is over, I do think it is for the most part. Yeah, he'll have releases that will probably work like Dostana 2, Race 2, maybe the remake of the Italian Job..but I don't see producers and directors lining up outside his house to work with him. He's not a good box office draw. He's never been known as a superstar and never will be IMO..

Even after giving 40+ flops he is still surviving in the industry just proves that his career has not come to an end.
Or more interestingly, did he ever have a career in the first place?
I would definetly say he did. Even Kareena who debuted with him was giving flops after flops but with JWM her luck changed and so did the audiances prespective of her as an actor.....the same goes to Shahid as well....he was also the flop king but with JWM and Kamineey a lot of changes happened.. May be it's not Abhishek's time yet. He has proven he can act...he just needs a good luck charm his way.
Or was it just Paa's second name that carried him this far?
Bachchan surname has been a blessing and a also a responsibility. I would say 80% of the reason why he is still surviving in this industry is because of his surname.
Would any other actor in his place (especially an outsider) have got so many oppourtunities to prove himself the way Abhishek got?
Definetly not. Being Amitab Bachchan's son has worked to his advantage. He has not been through the struggles of an outsider to make it big in bollywood. I have heard so many stories of people walking behind directors to give them a chance in a movie and also the daily maintanence these outsiders have to work for till a role comes their way.....surely Abhishek has never been through and never will go through (lets say 90%) such difficulties....
In time, will Abhishek be remembered as a good actor, a flop actor, a middle-rung star or be forgotton completely, having made close to nil impact on bollywood during his era? Or remembered just for being Amitabh Bachchan's son and Aishwarya Rai's husband?
Only time will tell...for noow he is mainly know for being Amitabh Bachchan's son and Aishwarya's husband we can't be too sure of what fate has in store for him.

sadly he is, not even his wife can save him as his co star. His only bet right now would be to stick to multi starrers as he cant carry a movie on his own. Its the bitter truth but people should realize it by now.

I feel very bad for him😔... seeing his current BO stand he will either continue in multistarrers and reap the success from that. But I don't think individually he will have BO success

How can Aishwarya save him when she her self is suffering from bad luck...her films Sarkar Raj, Raavan, Action Replay, Guzaarish have all flopped and Enthiran's box office success can't be given to Aishwarya...agreed she also made it look good but any heroine opposite Rajani would have given it the same success.

I don't think Abhi has only survived in the industry this long because of his father's name. If that was the case, Fardeen kahn also would be in Abhi's place. His father started producing/directing films for him. He tried to help him, but the audience just didn't care for him. Esha Deol for example would still be getting film offers after her flops. I mean come on, she is Hema Malini's and Dharmandar's daughter. The reason why she is not getting chances is because she has no Charm and talent as Abhi. Now her mother is directing her film because no one is giving her a good film. Let's see if that would help her. Abhi is talented and he is charming. He is super funny and has an awesome personality. THese are the reasons why he is surviving bollywood. I think his father's name has little to do with his career.
