@Lensa, Dostana wasn't just Abhi's hit! Agreed that John was just showing off his body in the film, but trust me, a lot of women (and men) who went to watch it, probably were drawn more by John's butt than Abhishek's acting skills!😆 And in anycase, if I were an actor who had done close to 50 films in 10 years of my career and had just a film like Dostana to my credit, I would be feeling very embarassed about myself!
Kareena Kapoor who debuted with Abhishek might also have lots of flops to her name, but she had proved her status in the Industry and amongst the audience time and again! She has a number of huge hits to her name and all said and done, her Kapoor Surname has not helped her in the least bit! If she had churned out multiple flops, she wouldn't be starring alongside the likes of Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and SRK! She has made a star status for herself, which IMO, Abhishek has not been able to make! If she has done films like Kambakht Ishq, then she has also done films like Omkara and Chameli which not only proved her worth as an actress but were also commerical successes!
Abhishek has not done any film where he was critically acclaimed as well as got commerical success! They have always been mutually exclusive for him!
I do agree that Aishwarya has no role in his career in anywhich way! But Amitabh and Bachchan surname does!
And I don't think Abhishek is unlucky at all! Any guy who can manage to stay employed with such a bad success rate is not at all unlucky, IMO! He might or might not get commerical success with his films, but he does get paid for them! He is employed and earning, despite not being able to prove himself! How does that make him unlucky?
Name just one actor who gave so many flops one after another and yet kept up with a continuous line up of films for himself / herself? And I am including Star sons and daughters too!
