In that respect Nihira nad Himani (2005 contestant) is much much better than her. 2007 contestant the winner (Vaishali) is better than Abhilasha. But None of the above I mentioned can match Sniti in voice quality. She is totally different and as per my view is better than all. Her voice is her forte. Abhilasha gasps for the breath in every song.

However, Abhilasha has sung very difficult songs and excelled. Watch SRGMP Marathi on youtube -- shura mi vandile, mi radhika and many other truly classical numbers- they are very difficult songs. I am not marathi, I am a punjabi girl. But a music lover:).
This SRGMP season, the Ganpati aarti, the Laa Mangeshkar song in her first performance, her audition song, even the Kaminey song , and actually most of the songs she picks, are very tough. SHE makes them sound simple. That is the beauty of a great singer, - make the audience hearing the song feel like it is an easy song. One's sur, taal, and voice needs a strong, unbreakable quality for that, and YOU have endorsed that quality about Abhilasha's singing unknowningly.
Yes, her voice might be common, but common among the bestest. Therefore by that definition, uncommon on average. Also, the thing about her that is a cut above the rest is her versatality, she can sing and has sung many different types of songs.
I like Sniti's voice, but I feel scared when she performs, I don't know if she is going to mess things up or sing well. THAT is a definition of a powerful yet "not thayyar" singer. She has a ways to go before she is "ready".
The one thing I do concede is Abhilasha's breathing, most noticeable in her "yeh haseen waadiya" performance on the A.R Rahman show. That is something that she needs to work on. Noone is impervious I guess.
