I have a feeling they used the same clip for most of the times that they showed Dimpy crying, her expression remained constant pretty much throughout. So it is likely that they just edited the scene that way, so Dimpy looks like she's crying even before Mahajan started talking...

On an aside, how convenient was the interview clipping that they showed the girls. Rahul could control both the questions and the (vague) answers, and leave all the meaty stuff out....
