Having popped the pills, Sudha goes to the basin to gulp it, and Uday intercepts her. She tries to fight him off, and he tells her that w/ her, he too would die. He then tries to reason w/ her, asking her whether their dying would solve anything? By living, they are still in a position to salvage things. He tells her that right now, Jyoti needs her the most, and if she goes, who'll be there to salvage her? Sudha starts crying again, and the pills fall out of her mouth. She is safe
Next scene - Jyoti standing in the balcony, (admiring the beauty of darkness ) Deepu comes there, and tries to tell her to talk to Pankaj once, but Jyoti is in no mood to listen. Deepu tells her that someone has to take the first step, and Jyoti tells her that by sending the divorce papers, Pankaj has already done it. Deepu asks her what next, and Jyoti doesn't know. She says that it's no longer just about her, and that she wants that whatever decision she take be the right one for everyone.
Deepu is at his would-be sasural, and has explained everything. He tells his parents-in-law that they are familiar with the situation in his home, and asks them how does he marry in that situation? Mahesh asks him how is Jyoti's divorce in any way related to his and Poonam's marriage? Deepu can't say, but tells them that he's not prepared for marriage under these circumstances. Prabha protests that the tilak is done, but her husband stops her, and asks Deepu whether Jyoti will sign the papers, or contest them? Deepu tells him that that's a decision he too is waiting for, but he wishes to request them to postpone the marriage for a few days. Mahesh asks him - few days? Is he even aware how long such cases take? They take years. He says that people are going to say plenty of things about them, and what face will they show? He asks Deepu what they would do?
Deepu tells him that truthfully, he has no answer to this. Mahesh tells him that he has no answer to anything, and yet he's telling them of his decision? Deepu tells them that he's not there to tell them his decision, but just request them. Until Jyoti's situation is resolved, he cannot marry (how's that not telling them what he's decided?) He apologizes to them and walks out, w/o even looking @ Poonam, who's standing there w/ a tea tray.
Poonam puts down the tray and runs into her bedroom, crying. Her parents come in and try to comfort her. Poonam tells her mom that he cares more about his sisters than about her. (Looks like Mythily may have been right, in which case, Poonam might have an ally in Padma) Prabha explains to her that if a guy loves his sister so much, then tomorrow, after he's married to her, he'd love her so much more. She tells him that she feels that they have not made the wrong decision by picking this guy. Mahesh Trivedi however says that they do need to talk.
Next day, Padma enters KK's room, and he sarcastically remarks that she must have had sweet dreams. She must be dreaming of buying a new car and jewelry like her friend. Padma is now outraged, goes to him and reminds him that when she was 18, she laid down all her dreams and married him. The color of sindur is red, representing the happiness of the girl's life, but what happiness did she get? She married a guy who was already a father of 2. She couldn't even take her husband's hand and walk, b'cos she had to carry those 2 babies. It was 8 years after their marriage that he took her out to a movie, but she never protested at his decisions. However, now she's not going to compromise on the lives of her children. She demands to know how long will Deepu run things? Won't he ever marry or have a family of his own? And it's not possible for Jyoti to run such a big house on her meager salary. And he would fight in court a case, selling each brick in the house, as well as his blood? She tells him that all this sounds good to hear, but in reality, even after they do all this, they won't be able to even face the Vashisths, let alone win this. If he thinks after all this that she has $$$ signs in her eyes, she does. She's even willing to put up w/ his insults to salvage her kids' futures.
KK tells her that she isn't greedy, but just tempted easily, while he, despite being handicapped, is still strong in mind. Padma tells him that she doesn't want to hear any of this, and tells him that he can do whatever he feels like. Regardless of whether she has to do it laughing or crying, she'll stand by him (Loser!!! She should be the one asking for a divorce)
She goes to the other room, where Dadi is done w/ pujas, and Jyoti w/ the tea. Jyoti goes to KK and gives him the tea, and KK asks her to sit down. He tells her that by filling herself w/ household chores, she's suppressing her feelings of sadness. He tells her not to avoid the problems she is facing. Jyoti tells him that she's forgotten how to do anything, including cry. KK says that that's a result of being hurt by the person she loved even more than herself. He asks her to cry her heart out b'cos her struggle is about to begin. Jyoti sheds her tears.
CM is in Kesav-ji's house, and he welcomes her as she gives him some presents. He asks her what's the occasion, and she tells him that Pankaj has given Jyoti her divorce notice (yeah, but that's not equivalent to him agreeing to marry Neelam, is it?) She was thinking of bringing Minal along, but then why deny them the pretext for a party? She invites him over to their place, and that they'll see off Minal after that.
Kesav-ji tells her that there is a saying in astrology that simply wearing some lucky charms doesn't alter one's fate. He asks her how is she so sure that just b'cos the divorce papers have been sent that Pankaj and Jyoti are divorced? He adds that he knows how these people operate, and that they'll try to cling to them desperately. CM assures him that she's really sweetened the deal for the Sharmas, and Kesav-ji tells her that if that is the case, then to invite him to Pankaj's wedding, and that after that, he'd combine it w/ Minal's bidai. With these words, he returns her the gifts w/ folded hands. CM is stunned at the rebuff.
Back @ the Sharmas, a lawyer has been hired by KK to contest this divorce on Jyoti's behalf. He tells them that the charges on the divorce sheet are despicable, and that he'd fight it. He promises to humiliate Pankaj Vashisth in court. He asks them to answer completely honestly any question he may have.
He asks whether they are sure that there is no evidence that Jyoti was w/ the person Pankaj has alleged her to be w/ since her marriage? Evidence such as hotel bills, or photos? KK tells him that all the charges are false, and the lawyer asks him whether any false evidence might just be there? KK says none (what if Brij is invited to testify, and does so supporting Pankaj's claims?) He then says that they can demand DNA tests to determine the paternity of that baby, and if that comes out right, then not just Rs 50 lakhs, but their entire property can be claimed. KK tells him that they are not doing this for money, but just to clear Jyoti's reputation. The lawyer tells him that he'll get all that, and they'll have to apologize to his daughter.
Just then, Jyoti walks in, and asks KK for the paper. She wants to meet Pankaj once, and have a few words w/ him. After talking to him, she would determine whether she wants to pursue this case or not. Everyone looks surprised, and the episode ends on that note.
First, Deepu's visit to his would-be in-laws. Given how generous they were in agreeing to this in the first place, I thought it churlish of him to insist on a delay. I can see where he is coming from, but given how he allowed himself to be overruled at home, he now risks doing the Trivedis the same damage that they were aware of on his side before they agreed to this. On one hand, nobody can force him, but the Trivedis can protest to KK & Padma on Deepu's move - Padma of all people would know how to force this. This move by Deepu 🤬 me off. This is also at variance w/ what Jyoti promised them - that her situation would not affect Poonam, and yet, here it is, doing just that.
I admired Prabha Trivedi all the more after her explanation of why Deepu was still right for her, although I see Poonam's point that he cares more for his sisters than her. Of course, this was precisely the reason that Deepu refused to marry, but then he had no business coming home drunk and upset that nobody wanted to marry their daughter to him. Hey, Sandeep, here's why!!!!
I also liked Padma confronting KK. While I normally agree w/ KK on Jyoti, I do agree w/ Padma that KK did her a great injustice by marrying her, and now putting his pride above the family situation. Padma should have gone a step further, and initiated the divorce herself, and demanded something like, say, Rs 50 lakhs, as alimony. It would be fun to see KK & Jyoti react to this. I also agree w/ Padma that KK is putting pride above everything when he boasts about selling each brick in the house, as well as his blood to get Jyoti's honor restored. His bhashan to Jyoti about letting her tears flow was pathetic.
I enjoyed thoroughly the rebuff of CM by Kesav-ji, even though it means Pankaj would have to actually marry before Minal was let back into her sasural. It's one thing that CM can't bribe KK or Jyoti, but it really sucks for her that even Kesav-ji or Sumant don't fall for her gifts. Maybe CM should drop the idea of giving gifts, since they are invariably either quid pro quos, or downright displays of her ostentatiousness.
On the meeting w/ the lawyer, KK should have left the question answering part to Jyoti, rather than take on it himself. After all, how does he know what evidence might be drawn out? If Pankaj asks Brij to testify in court, then the Sharmas would have to prove Brij a liar, which is not yet seemingly in the lawyer's radar. I don't have confidence in a legal contest, not b'cos of the lawyer, but b'cos the Sharmas are incapable of comprehending what Brij is capable of, in spite of everything he's done to date.
Episode rating: 👍🏼👍🏼 (Positives - the humiliation of CM again, Padma confronting KK on having to marry him, and Prabha explaining to Poonam how Deepu was her right choice. Negatives - Deepu trying to delay the wedding)
