Today's epi brings to my mind these lines of Emily Dickinson (who is one of my favourite poets!) -
The Truth must dazzle gradually
or every man be blind.
Isn't that the situation facing the Gujrals and Saxenas now? If the boys only had the chance to reveal the truth to the girls themselves, I'm positive things wouldn't have gotten so nasty... Yes, they'd be tears and recriminations and a good deal of anger, but the relationships wouldn't have been pushed to the brink, as they have been now. The jodis are so messed up now that it's going to take a lot of grovelling/tears/heartbreak (or at least it should! cvs had better not botch this up) to get them back together. But the silver lining to this dark cloud looming over our favourite people is that finally they are free to love without demons... And which woman has ever been able to resist a man who loves her truly?
VaRni
Roshni has become a Gujral woman, in every sense of the word... Gone is the playful girl who thought the world was rosy and perfect, and her place has been taken by the tough woman who just won't listen to any excuses. Loved how she stood up to Varun and told him in so many words that she was done loving him. I felt bad for Varun tho, cos of the three brothers, he's the only one who actively tried to shield her from this pain. Still, he does deserve this, if only to make him realize that Roshni is not a woman to be trifled with. She still needs her older sisters' support, especially when Ela collapsed like that, but her decision to be strong for her mother and sisters is just admirable. Kudos to Roshni for her metamorphosis! I only hope that once the nastiness is all over, she'll be back to being the little ray of sunshine that we all love...
SaVni
They were brilliant today! Loved Avni's "Jai, oh sorry, Sameer right?" So the kitten does have some claws! This was so needed and I admit I felt really at peace seeing her give Sameer what he deserved. "I can't believe I trusted you again" and " I hate myself" were splendid lines and Perneet absolutely rocked today... And yes, loved Sameer's concern too. The way he brought out that chair and asked her to sit down was really very cute and he's gained a lot of brownie points for that one gesture. Good lord Lucifer! If you act this sweet, I'm going to have to think of a new name for you... Avni telling Sameer to drop the act of love and concern was gold and silver and rubies! You rock girl! Oh and before I forget, kudos to the editing depatment... The recollection montage was superbly done! Glad to see that the technicalities are back to brilliant! Yayy!!!
PriDa
Will come back to this later...
Prithvi-Avni
Ok, this scene was mind-blowingly stupendo-fantabulous!!! For the first time, Prithvi was unable to meet her eyes or reassure her or be the big brother she admitted she saw in him... He was a broken man today, a man who has fallen in the eyes of the girl he loves, the girl he considers his sister and worst of all in his own eyes... It was painful to see the normally self-assured Prithvi so helpless and lost, but I guess it was needed. Avni was upset yet calm and you could see that everything she said was hurtng and weakening him further. Loved the dialogues here too " Kya khoob rishta nibhaya aapne!" "Apni behen ki shaadi ek dhongi se karvadi" Wow! Again Perneet rocked this scene. And the hurting Prithvi was portrayed to perfection by Gaurav! The tears, the choking voice, the helplessness - all wonderfully done! Gaurav seems to be improving by leaps and bounds...
Sameer-Rosh
Short yet effective. Loved how Sameer stressed on the fact that though they had cheated the girls, Varun at least had loved Roshni, and that too before he knew who she was. Hope VarNi are the first ones to make up, cos Varun deserves to be lauded for (a) trying to protect Rosh (b) Writing the note (which she stupidly lost)
Varun-Damini
This was quite good too. Damini as ice queen is really scary so first of all let me just congratulate Varun on having the guts to actually say something. Loved how he tried to tell her Prithvi couldn't hurt even his enemy and that he really loves her. Absolutely loved the expression on Damini's face when Varun tells her about Prithvi's love. It was hurt, anger and disbelief, tempered with a tiny dose of hope... And that hope is what is keeping me going at the moment...
Ela
This woman is classy in evrything, even in getting a mild stroke! Poor woman seems so shattered... I feel for her and hope she won't be reduced to being another veggie or worse, killed off... To me, she's the one who can play a positive role in the messed-up lives of her children, cos her guilt about Balraj's death will make her more forgiving of the boys... Let's see what the cvs have in store for us.
PriDa
What do I say about these two? The intial outburst set the tone, with Damini telling him to stay away from her and her sisters' lives. Loved the way he grabbed her by her shoulders, looked her in the eyes and told her his love wasn't a farce. Loved that they both were tearing up and trying to hide it. After a long time, the PriDa-passion is making a slow entry... Bring it on, show!
The scene in Ela's bedroom was painful to say the least... Poor Prithvi was trying so hard to help, but Damini wouldn't budge an inch! You rock, Queenie! Make him work really hard to gain you back!!! Btw, did they use a body double for Gaurav in the beginning of this scene or was I imagining it?
If the previous scene was painful, then the scene outside Ela's room was just heartbreaking... The three sisters huddled together, their worry for their mother etched on their faces, was so sad. The boys looked quite lost too... And that's good! I liked how Prithvi came rushing up to talk to the doctor. And poor guy's face fell a mile when he heard Damini's "Don't involve the outsiders". Awww...
Damini's angry outburst after this was top-notch! She seemed to be focusing on saying the most hurtful things to Prithvi and she succeded there... He looked heartbroken, towards the end. Worse, he looked defeated, like he'd lost all will to even try to defend himself. I loved the way Varun and Sameer supported him then, cos he was crumbling and you could just see his heart breaking into a million pieces with each word that Damini said. And Damini wasn't any better-off - behind that fury and those cutting words, you could see the pain and heartbreak reflected in her eyes. The last shot was especially poignant, with Sameer and Varun trying to lead a broken Prithvi away and Avni and Roshni doing the same to a shattered Damini. Yet, PriDa couldn't break their gaze, couldn't seem to look away from each other's tear-filled eyes... And when Damini finally turned and went into the room, Prithvi actually had to be held up and supported by Sameer and Varun. What have you done, Pri my man? Do you now realise how hard it will be to live with your Damini's hate? Sighhh...
The truth does prevail after all, but who knew its aftermath would be so painful?
Over to y'all...
p.s. I know this is quite a ramble, but you can forgive a girl for venting/ranting after today's epi right? I knew you'd understand... 😃
