In my opinion, Hinid movies were best around that time. The songs are still popular today and movies are still quoted. The 90s were the beginning of a lot of the current major actors and the innocence still showed on their faces.
For a few weeks now, I have been watching movies from the 70s to the 90s and I can't think of any other good ones. Hence the creation of this thread.
What is your favorite movie from this time period?
Please write the cast if you have the time, but if not, just write the movie name, Thanks soo much!!

I don't know about the best period. That is like a generation, but I would definitely say 70s was the golden era in terms of music.

Randomly, here is a bit of my list:
Sparsh-Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah (Directed by Sai Paranjape and best film to tackle the subject of disability in Hindi films)
Yeh Woh Manzil To Nahin-political film and directorial debut of Sudhir Mishra. It has Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapur in the ensemble cast.
Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron-best film Kundan Shah has directed and probably will ever direct. A great dark comedy. Naseeruddin Shah, Satish Shah, and Om Puri are all in this film. This movie never gets old, have watched it numerous times.
Arth-Back in the old days, when I liked films that the Bhatts made. A sensitive film directed by Mahesh Bhatt with great performances by Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil, both of my favorites.
Sholay-AB, Sanjeev Kumar, Dharmenda, Hema Malini, Jaya Bayaduri
Ardh Satya-Govind Nilihani directed this extremely powerful film. And Om Puri simply excelled here.
Masoom-Urmila Matondkar as a little kid, Shabana, Naseer based on the book Man, Woman, and Child by Eric Seghal.
Koshish-Jaya and Sanjeev Kumar directed by Gulzar
Angoor-also directed by Gulzar has an excellent double role by Sanjeev Kumar and is an adaptation of A Comedy of Errors. Moshumi Chatterjee and Deepti Naval are good also.
Deewar-Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Parveen Babi (also some classic lines that become common place are from this film)
Baaton Baaton Mein-Amol Palekar and Tina Munim, a cute film that touches on Bombay's Christian community. They don't make comedies like this anymore.
Chasme Buddoor-my favorite Deepti Naval film and reminds me of why I like Sai Paranjape's films so much. I guess it is nice Farah Khan gets so much press, but she Sai is probably one of my fave directors for Hindi films.
Kissi Se Na Kehna-Deepti Naval and Farooque Sheikh-great chemistry together, loved their films
Aandhi-Suchitra Sen, Sanjeev Kumar
Guddi-my favorite Jaya Bachchan movie
Umrao Jaan-Rekha, the classic courtesan movie
Khamosh-one of the first films Vidhu Vinod Chopra made, a nice thriller
Parinda-great film and I really liked Nana Patekar in this movie
Chotti Si Baat-another Amol Palekar comedic film from the 1980s, really sweet romantic comedy
LOL, 20 years is a bit too long. Maybe, a decade would be easier to narrow down stuff for me. Now, I am done editting though I added alot of more to my post in terms of casting.

Mannu, thank you for mentioning Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. That is my favorite SRK role. I love when he does those types of roles. I guess that is how I see him in my mind always, the lovable loser type. But it is interesting to look at where he is now and where the supposed good looking guy, Deepak Tijori, is now.

And I tend to overlook the 90s, but Maine Pyar Kiya, probably my favorite Salman Khan film, so I agree with Sanam there.

Perhaps, I am guilty of type casting when it comes to these two Khans, and how I see them.😉

I reckon there were some pretty good movies (as someone mentioned, Mahesh Bhatt films, were awesome then) made in those times...but a whole bunch of bads ones too...probably after the 70s...for some reason bad Subhash Ghai and Rajiv Rai films come to mind when I think of that time period.

Still...I was a kid then and only looking back now I realsie how terrible they were...at the time, I thought they were Amazing!!.😆

I Loved all Sajeev Kumar, Vinod Khanna and Sashi Kapoor films☺️ And one of my favourites is Amar Akbar Antony...I loved Silsila and Khabhi Khabhi too!

Oh Oh...and whats the film with the song..."Hai na...bolo bolo...pappa ko mummy se...mummy ko pappa se...pyaaaaaaaaar hai...pyaaaaaaaaar..." ?? I remember liking that too!!😆
