The Uday-Devika story really puzzles me sometimes.😕 isnt it strange that uday's mum never has any doubts about devika? i mean, kahan se aati hai, kahan jaati hai, kahan rehti hai, kya karti hai?? she is considering to make devika her DIL and she just lets these things in the air. plus there is the sudha look-alike connection. she is encouraging her son to go steady with a girl who hesitates when talking about her family and dosent even know where she is from. 😲

what do you people think?

one more thing is that when uday's mum was reprimanding jyoti and saying that she shud work hard and learn cooking, so does she expect devika to be a grand homemaker?? 😲 😆

I know what you mean, do they even know what she does for living where she comes from anything she just like her, and what is wrong with them Sudha and her look the same why are they not asking her about, its weird but looking forwad to seeing what will happen later on

yes even i agree that Choti maa is a bit confussing in her behaviour actually she is very insecure and possessive about pankaj and is very apprehensive in sharing him with someone else, and so her behaviour towards jyoti is so cold.she has not completely accepted jyoti, and is insecure coz pankaj loves jyoti the most.And about devika, Choti maa is very modern in her outlook so might be she is accepting devika but i m sure once she comes to know about sudha and her split personality she will not accept her.

yes i was wondering that too but after all it is a drama :) anything can happen i noe that if i wasn't a girl and was a guy my mom would freak out where the girl lives and blah blah but his mom didn't ask much yett,...... silly of the mom LMaO

One thing that struck me today - when cm was talking to Jyoti, she again managed to embarrass her by remarking on the unremarkable fact that Jyoti had never stayed in such a hotel before - Jyoti was stunned to hear that. Then she told her that as a part of the Vashisth family, that was the sort of place she'd stay from now on.

I've tossed this about, and it looks to me like cm is for Sudha what Padma is for Sushma. Just as Padma loved Sushma to the point of indulging her, cm admires Devika, and loves Sudha, but is somehow rough w/ Jyoti. I have a theory about this that attributes it to plain narcissism: since cm was the first from the family to see Sudha, she credits herself for 'discovering' her, and the fact that Sudha went out of her way to stop her and return her credit card just makes her doubly grateful. With Devika, since she's been the first to see her, aside from Uday, she accepts her as well. With Jyoti, I think she is jealous of the fact that others in the family - Dayal uncle, for instance, discovered her, and that cm had nothing to do w/ introducing Jyoti into the family.

This does irritate me. Sudha doesn't look like one who for a second would betray Jyoti, so I hate to see her have a well-wisher who doesn't do the same for Jyoti.

I agree with Vrishna but i also think that she is pleasant to Sudha as she is not a threat as yet. She is not marrying into the family, so in cm's eyes she is merely a good natured girl who returned her purse.

Sudha and Devika are poles apart in personality. Devika's confidence and modern avatar is attractive to cm because she is assuming she hails from an affluent background or is worthy of their status. She belittles Jyoti as she feels she is unworthyand not to be trusted, perhaps that she has an ulterior motive; i.e. wealth due to her humble beginnings. Moreover, it is the fact that the family approved of her before waiting for her judgement. She seems irritated that she did not bring the 'perfect bahu' into Pankaj's life.

Plus, it could be just pure double standards, that for her own son she is so liberal and encouraging him to pursue his heart but for Pankaj she would have prefered that they seek out his life partner for him to ensure he is not taken advantage of.

Although, it is irrirating that she finds Devika's abruptness and boldness decent but criticises Jyoti for not knowing how to cook even though she is very traditional and seedhi-saadi as a independent working women. I for one was glad they showed that Jyoti cannot cook as it was more realistic, otherwise she would have been too perfect.

I agree w/ PDM that cm has double standards, but I don't think her non-acceptance of Jyoti is necessarily due to her background, even though it looks that way. I mean, the night when Uday was brooding over Devika before the latter came in w/ a hostile introduction to the darwan, she did mention Sudha (though at the time she didn't know her name) as a possible alternative to Devika. Also, at the wedding, when the gossipy ladies were badmouthing KK's family and Sudha restrained Deepu, she went up to her and was all praise for KK's family. So I don't know whether she assumes that Devika is affluent or not, but she does seem to be accepting of not only Devika, but Sudha as well. Of course, having seen Sudha return her credit card, she'd assume that were she to marry Uday, she'd not be a gold digger, while she's assuming that about Jyoti, and has zero trust in the judgements of Pankaj or Dayal uncle.

The other thing about her double standards - on Thursday, while discussing things w/ Devika, she totally agreed w/ her that one had to be strong and chart her own course, and yet, just a day ago, she was dictating to Jyoti what she should wear while joining the rest of the family, when everybody else was perfectly happy with her sari.

I do think one thing - she needs Devika as a d-i-l, not Sudha.

That is correct Vrishna she is accepting of Sudha but again it is the trust issues. She is weary of Jyoti's intentions as she married Pankaj, the most vulnerable member of the household for CM. Moreover, Sudha's personality is not dominating so as bahu she could be easily controlled but Jyoti is far more independent and confident. I agree that Devika should be her DIL but with Sudha's softly spoken touch as Devika has the confidence to stand up for herself but she also comes across brash and arrogant at times.

Maybe she could be Sudha w/ Uday and Devika w/ cm 😆
