We all know Mallika Sherawat had a married life before she came to Bollywood.
The latest issue of a leading bollywood magazine gives an insight into the actress' past. They also have published a interview with Mallika's ex mother-in-law, Mrs S S Gill.
Mallika was married to a pilot, Karan Singh Gill, when she was still Reema Lamba (her real name). The actress has never spoken about her whirlwind marriage and subsequent divorce. After achieving stardom, Karan and his family went into hiding, not wanting to do anything with Mallika anymore.
Finally, members of her own family come forward to reveal what really went wrong. 'Stardust' meets her uncle Sushil Lamba in Mallika's hometown Moth in Haryana, who says, "As their (Mallika and Karan) friendship started brewing, the lovebirds decided to marry soon. It was a love-cum- arranged marriage and everybody from both sides of the family were present there at the wedding. It was a grand reception in Delhi."

Lamba then adds, "She always had a thought of becoming rich and famous. She married Gill because she was in love with him but married life wasn't made for her. So, she decided to quit wedlock and lead an independent lifestyle. From her own parents to her in-laws, everybody was against her decision and as a result, she had a major argument with all of them."

It is now clear that Mallika's in-laws were totally against her joining films. As Lamba says, "Her in-laws were not interested in sending their girl into films and they were completely against her late nights and parties. As a result, tension started brewing between Reema and Karan. This might be the reason for their break-up."
The magzine has also interviewed ex mother-in-law, Mrs G S Gill who makes no bones about her disapproval for her ex-bahu. When asked about Mallika, Gill says, "We don't know anybody named Mallika. A few years back, we had a girl in our family called Reema Lamba. She was my daughter-in-law and we all loved her very much. But, afterwards, her behaviour and independent nature started creating problems for us."

Mrs Gill explains that Mallika's soaring ambitions to make it big in Bollywood is what caused problems for the family. She says, "We wanted a girl who was independent in her thoughts but at the same time, someone who understood the needs of the family also. But her dream was something different from what we expected. She wanted to have a career in the glamour industry."

Whatever her past maybe, I could care less. The fact is she makes me laugh with her real life crazy antics.
😆

And I like her because she can be quite entertaining unlike the little miss goody-two-shoes actresses in bollywood who are andar kuch aur, bahar kuch aur.

Don't fret or sweat!! Go for it Reema Lamba......a.k.a.....Mallika Sherawat! You have every right to chase your dreams, and accomplish them. Who cares what your biological age is. You put a lot of the biologically younger ones to shame!!! Lage raho me Lady!!!! Don't let the age old Taliban Female Indian susris-in-law scare you or stop your progrerss. 😉

So her ex MIL didnt like her because she had dreams and had an independent nature, what the crap? So when a woman gets married she should stop dreaming & stop being independent.
Thankfull my in-laws are nothing like this. In fact after I got married my career took off in a better way thanks to the support of my hubby & my in-laws.

^^ i think they were against her late night parties even after marriage.. can't say i blame them too much.. if one is not ready for marriage, then one shouldn't get married, imo..
but yes, otherwise i doubt very much anyone would mind.. as in your case.. 😳

well it sounds like she always wanted to become an actress well then i think she shouldnt have married him but i agree that her in laws should have been a bit more supporting but come on bollywood is not really a place where you want to send your bahu . it also said that she has a child is that true then or what?
