Aamir Khan explains why formal wedding can wait with girlfriend Gauri Spratt, says “Marriage is something..."

Aamir Khan has once again found himself at the centre of public attention after speaking candidly about his relationship with girlfriend Gauri Spratt. The actor, who introduced Gauri to the public on his 60th birthday last year, recently addressed reports about the couple moving into a new home in Mumbai and shared his views on marriage.

According to reports, Aamir and Gauri have shifted to a new residence located close to where his family members live. When asked about the timing of the move, Aamir told an entertainment portal, “This is happening right in the middle of my production Happy Patel being released. So, it’s madness.” He added that balancing personal changes alongside work has been hectic.

During the interaction, Aamir made it clear that while he and Gauri are deeply committed to each other, there is no immediate plan to formalise their relationship. He said he already feels married to her emotionally, but has not yet decided whether to make it official. “Gauri and I are really serious about each other and we are in a very committed space. And we are, you know, we are partners. We are together. Marriage is something, I mean, in my heart, I’m already married to her. So whether we formalise it or not is something that, you know, I will decide as we go along,” Aamir said.

Aamir had confirmed his relationship with Gauri during a private media interaction in Mumbai on his milestone birthday. He revealed that they had known each other for 25 years before reconnecting about a year and a half ago. “We met accidentally, kept in touch, and it all happened organically,” he had shared.

Gauri, who is a mother to a six year old son, had also spoken about what she was looking for in a partner. She said she wanted someone gentle and intelligent, qualities she believes she found in Aamir. She is now associated with Aamir Khan’s production house.

Aamir was married to Reena Dutta in 1986 and shares children Ira Khan and Junaid Khan. They separated in 2002. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005 and separated. They have a son, Azad, together.
